Access to affordable, high-quality health care is a human right

Millions of Americans have lost their health insurance through no fault of their own, leaving them unprotected in the midst of the worst public health crisis our nation has seen in over a century.

It’s devastating.

But we are encouraged by the fact that the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services has established a special enrollment period to help people access affordable, quality health care coverage. At GoFundMe, we want to do our part and help spread the word about the new special enrollment period, and ultimately help more folks to stay healthy and find the care they need.

From February 15 through May 15, we encourage you to visit HealthCare.gov. Spread the word about the special enrollment period and the options available to anyone who needs health insurance.

We believe that access to robust, affordable health care is critical, especially in the wake of the pandemic. It’s clearer than ever that we need all hands on deck to address the systems of inequity that bring so many Americans to GoFundMe. A fundraising platform cannot—and should not—be a solution to complex, systemic problems; only meaningful public policy can effectively resolve those.
