This fundraiser is on behalf of our dear friend, Jason Friedmann (who many of you know and love as Uncle Bison), and his beautiful family.

Jason has spent his life giving back to others—through his music, his environmental advocacy, and his work with the youth of Oahu. Now, he and his family are facing an unimaginable health crisis, and it is our turn to show up for them.

We asked Jason to share his story, and here is what is going on in his own words:

"Aloha everyone. First off, I'd like to thank all friends, fans, and strangers for having the heart to help a man when he's down. After the recent flood, I had to scramble to recover and find a living space. Luckily, there was so much love thrown in my direction that I was able to recover without pulling from the funds needed to keep my wife and kids safe.

However, my wife Angelica and our three daughters—Kiva, Raven, and Sequoia—were unknowingly exposed to black mold for four years. They have been tested with mold levels in their blood up to four times above the dangerous limit. We were living in a home with high levels of carbon monoxide and grey dust from what's called 'ghosting,' where unhealthy foreign debris seeps through the drywall due to a faulty boiler and bad circulation.

All of this has left them suffering from low energy, migraines, dizziness, and foggy thinking. In the worst case, one is battling Morgellons disease, which has been nearly unbearable and has taken a severe mental and emotional toll.

I'd rather not burden you with gloomy news, but as a loving husband and father, I desperately need help covering the medical treatments to heal my family, and to eventually get them back to living in Hawaii, the place they love and call home.

To all who have enjoyed my music—from performing with Dynamic Pressure and Go Jimmy Go—I'm starting a new project, The Bison. I plan on paying this forward with my music, just like I've done in the past with the American Cancer Society, the Kokua Foundation, the Surfrider Foundation, the Douglas Family Preserve, and other families in need.

Also, to all the families who have been part of the Ka Hana Pono family: Angelica and I plan to keep looking after the keiki of Oahu for years to come. We look forward to welcoming new Ka Hana Pono families and hold loving memories of those who have come before.

How the Funds Will Be Used

We have set a goal of $20,000 to help alleviate the immense financial burden this has placed on Jason. 100% of the funds raised will go directly toward:

Extensive medical treatments, testing, and detoxification therapies for Angelica, Kiva, Raven, and Sequoia.

Helping the family safely relocate back to Hawaii once they are on the road to recovery.
