Friends, I need your help.
As many of you know, I have been with Almost Home Pet Rescue for many years — and today, I’m reaching out to ask for your support for a very special dog, who also happens to be my foster: Torro.
Torro’s story is heartbreaking. He was abandoned on the streets by his previous owners — left to fend for himself without his critical heart medications. By pure luck (and a little detective work), we discovered that Torro had been a patient at Gulf Coast Vet Specialists. His cardiologist was shocked to hear he had been dumped — and after contacting his former owners, it was confirmed: they no longer wanted him.
His owners gave up on him, but we would not.
Almost Home Pet Rescue stepped up, and Torro has been safe, loved, and cared for ever since.
Torro’s Diagnoses:
Mitral Valve Dysplasia
Supraventricular Tachycardia
Ventricular Premature Complex
Aortic Valve Dysplasia - mild AS and Mild Moderate AI
Systolic Dysfunction - mild
In short: Torro has a complicated little heart, but with medication and regular care, he’s been doing so well.
Unfortunately, things have gotten slightly complicated again.
Torro’s cardiologist moved out of state, and Gulf Coast Vet Specialists no longer has a cardiology department. In order to keep Torro healthy and properly medicated, we need to get him established with a new cardiologist.
We have an appointment for Torro on May 14th at MedVet Houston Bay Area — but the estimated cost for this initial visit is $850. This includes the necessary diagnostic testing to ensure we are managing his heart condition properly.
This is where I’m asking for your help.
Every single dollar helps. Truly. If you’re able to donate, you’ll be helping us continue to give Torro the life he deserves — safe, loved, and comfortable despite his medical challenges.
We are a small rescue and we are struggling like so many other rescues right now. No amount is too small.
