This upcoming August 6, I will be 58+1. My last year in the fifth floor of this interesting thing called life. For the past nine years, I have celebrated my birthday with a fundraiser for Almost Home Pet Rescue (AHPR), a non-profit organization that rescues dogs from the streets and killing shelters, giving them a second chance at life by finding them forever loving homes.
Sadly, not all the dogs AHPR rescues are adoptable due to personality or health issues. With the help of AHPR fosters, these unadoptable dogs stay with the rescue group, which covers all their needs while the fosters provide them with love and care until the end of their days. AHPR currently has eight dogs under the non-adoptable category that are enjoying their lives to the fullest thanks to Almost Home:
1. Toro
An 8-year-old Bull Terrier dumped by his owners on the street. He has heart arrhythmias that require visits to a specialist at Gulf Coast. He was recently diagnosed with high-grade soft tissue sarcoma.
2. **Yardley** - My medical foster. Yardley also needs to visit Gulf Coast due to severe allergies that have hospitalized him more than once. He requires prescription food, medication, and monthly allergy shots.
3. **Channing** - 14 years old, hospice.
4. **Berry** - 10 years old, hospice. She was burned with car oil and found tied to a tree in a shopping mall.
5. **Honor and Haribo** - Two purebred German Shepherds born into the rescue. All their siblings were adopted, but they were not due to suffering from megaesophagus.
6. **Drax** - Born into the rescue and returned four years later because he was sick with Cushing's disease, which requires expensive medication.
7. **Ellie** - Also born into the rescue and returned eight years later due to health problems. She has Addison's disease and a fatty tumor in her abdomen that cannot be surgically removed.
Taking care of these precious angels is a labor of love, but it takes a toll on the rescue's capacity to help more dogs find their forever homes. Your support can make a real difference. Will you join me in celebrating my last year in the fifth floor of life by helping me reach my birthday goal to ease the expenses these beautiful souls bring to the rescue?
Every dollar counts and goes directly to their care—medical treatments, special diets, and providing them with the loving environment they deserve. These dogs have faced so much hardship, yet with AHPR's help, they live with dignity, comfort, and love.
Please consider donating. Your generosity can change lives and give these dogs the chance to live out their days happy and cared for. Together, we can ensure they get the best possible care.
Thank you for being a part of this journey and for your support in making my birthday truly meaningful.
