Hi Friends,
I had a chance to go visit Ellie at her foster home today. As many of you may remember she is one of Eloise's puppies born in 2015.
Ellie has been owner surrendered to us as her own is no longer able to care for her. Ellie has Addison's but when she went to her last vet visit the vet had concerns that went beyond the Addison's. Ellie has lost quite a bit of weight since her last trip to the vet in February and the vet really wanted to do some bloodwork and X-rays.
We really had no choice but to go forward with the tests as we needed to know what we are facing with her care moving forward.
Her bloodwork looked pretty good and her Addison's values weren't too far out of range, but what they did find is a fatty tumor growing inside her abdomen.
Fatty internal tumors are typically not cancerous but they are physically difficult on a dog. It is pushing against her intestines and stomach and it is 2 feet in diameter. Unfortunately it is not operable. Removing a tumor like this is very risky and would likely require a lot of reconstruction of the abdominal wall.
Here are the images:
Ellie is with a FABULOUS foster family and they are taking amazing care of her. We have adjusted her food and her feeding and she is a very happy girl who is still enjoying being with people.
We don't know how much time we have with this special girl, but we will make sure that she gets the care that she needs.
The vet bill from the tests was $1,299.29 but we are just needing assistance with $600.
We need to try and raise funds so that we can continue to help her and other dogs in the rescue. We are grateful for any donation.
