Women-Owned Businesses to Support on GoFundMe

Supporting women-owned businesses by visiting their shop, leaving positive reviews, and spreading the word are great ways to help, but did you know you can also support women-owned businesses on GoFundMe? We’re highlighting four fundraisers supporting women business owners so you can get inspired by their stories and even donate as an act of kindness.

1. Sunrise Books’ business owner taking maternity leave

Edith owns Sunrise Books, a children’s bookstore in the heart of NE Portland. The store is a “space of joy, play, and gathering,” and Edith shares that she sees books as a “vehicle to bring folks into the community.” Her fundraiser is to support her business expenses while she is away on maternity leave. As the only employee, she expects book sales to be almost completely at a standstill, so her GoFundMe is a great way to support her business while she is embracing maternity leave.

2. Chef launching her dream restaurant

Nid is a chef building out her dream restaurant in Manassas, VA, and is “looking forward to having [a] place that makes you feel like [you] have a delicious meal at home.” She has worked in the restaurant industry for 25 years and speaks of the fondness she has for sushi and Japanese cuisine. In her fundraiser, Nid says, “Every day, it doesn’t matter how tired I am but I am so happy and looking forward to seeing smiley faces from the customers.” Donations to her GoFundMe will go to her for the restaurant development.

3. This founder is making healthy options accessible in food deserts

Tatiana is the CEO and founder of Nosh Posh. She started Nosh Posh in Minnesota after “noticing how difficult it was to access healthy prepared meals and snacks.” Her business brings healthy foods to food deserts with a commitment to “source all of our products from BIPOC and women-owned businesses.” Balancing her life as a mom and founder scaling her business, Tatiana is the picture of resilience and grit. Your donation to her GoFundMe helps Tatiana continue to scale Nosh Posh.
