Hello everyone!!!

my name is Edith Johnson and so far in my journey of life I’ve learned a few things about myself. I LOVE a good story and I LOVE gathering! Opening a bookstore was so fitting for me! I can be immersed in the world of stories ALL DAY LONG!! But what I discovered is…building community has been the hallmark of Sunrise Books existence. The connections built, conversation had and joy experienced has been hands down the new mission and purpose of the bookstore. Yes, I exist to bring joy and inspiration but not only with amazing books but also with experiences in community. It’s what’s desperately lacking in this day and age. Join me on this journey to build just that! A space for literacy, joy and inspiration IN community! A third space that is safe, fun and inviting. Sunrise Books has been around for THREE YEARS!!! We’ve been able to sustain with a lot of hard work AND a lot of support and love from friends of the bookstore that believe in having a special place like this sweet childrens bookstore.

Thank you for taking the time out of your busy schedule to be here! Now that I have your attention let me let you in on how you can invest!

im looking to EXPAND!!! There’s a sweet space on 43rd in Fremont(3 blocks down from my current location) it has a GARDEN! A KITCHEN! Separate ROOMS!! Oh the possibilities!! We can offer outdoor education classes, come together in nature, have gardening events and MORE! And hello!!! Can we bring back home economics!! The kitchen area will provide a space for cooking classes, a larger variety of STEM activities, and more! Separate rooms would provide a play space for littles, a storytime room and a literacy lab! This location is on the street(we’re currently upstairs) very accessible for parents with strollers and it has PARKING! There is a VOID right now in coming together! I seek to fill it!

im raising 35k! This will take care of the rent, marketing, bookshelves, books, consulting, renovations and more!
