Covid-19 has created an even worse food insecurity problem in Sub Saharan Africa, and when my friend Augustus reached out from the Maasai Mara, I was able to help within the week. GoFundMe was the most expedient way to get my direct ask to a wide net of friends and allies! When funds were donated, GoFundMe helped immediately funnel them to my account where I could transfer (in minutes, thanks to the African friendly apps SENDWAVE and XOOM) funds to help provide relief to his village on the Maasai Mara! And because of generous hearts stateside, we were able to help the rural village Motopi, where I teach each year in Botswana — a large amount of people were able to be sustained for 30 days. On my second GoFundMe round, we doubled our target. We are able to get funds to my friend Claire Gataka in Nairobi, who is organizing food baskets with the teen residents of the largest slum in Africa. GoFundMe made it possible and doable. It is my wish that more people of means would use this platform to directly help the more vulnerable communities of the planet. Let's spread the word.
Due to circumstances in my life, I was without money to pay rent and was scared of ending up on the street. As a last effort, I decided to try and crowdsource money to be able to pay the rent. Thanks to some nice people and this site, I was able to reach my goal (a portion of it was donated privately by friends). This was done in just a few hours and I went from despair to hopeful. Thanks to all the wonderful people willing to help me and GoFundMe for offering this opportunity.
We are very pleased with the GoFundMe support for our small non-profit museum. Like many, we have been heavily impacted by the loss of revenue caused by mandatory closures and activity restrictions throughout 2020. The funds we have raised through GoFundMe will help us considerably.
My son was diagnosed with Nephrotic syndrome and had to be rushed an hr and a half away from home. With no funds, I was so stressed, and someone suggested this site, and it was a Godsend. I am so grateful for all the love and donations that he received. It was really a Godsend. Thanks GoFundMe. Y'all are really the MVPs.
I was very hesitant about starting a GoFundMe fundraiser. I have never had to ask for help. It became necessary when our business was closed due to Covid. It became very clear that my daily life would be greatly affected without getting the medical supplies that I could not afford. It was so easy. I posted on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. By far my Facebook was the best forum. I was blown away with the response from friends, friends of friends and classmates. I take no responsibility for the kindness of my donors. I am so happy with the result of this fundraiser.
Such a brilliant platform. I'm cycling around the UK coast and some of my friends wanted to send me some cash to help me buy winter gear. Instead of giving bank details individually, I set up a GoFundMe page. It took literally 2 minutes, was incredibly easy and because it's such a well-known and trusted platform, all of my friends (and a couple of strangers) were very comfortable making a donation. The target was hit within 24 hours of set up, the withdrawal process was quick, easy to arrange, and funds were transferred directly to my bank account. Thanks to GoFundMe and the generosity of people, I'm now warmly and dryly carrying on until November. Can't recommend GoFundMe highly enough.
When tragedy struck my family, and my 36-year-old cousin died, leaving three small children in the care of my elderly aunt and uncle, GoFundMe gave my family a platform through which we could communicate to everyone what had occurred, and what the children's needs were efficiently. We quickly met our goal, and the website made it very easy to share the information, to donate, and to quickly thank everyone that helped us out, all from one place. I am so grateful that something like this exists. Without it, I doubt very much that we would have been as successful as we were in securing the funds to continue supporting my cousin's baby. I would definitely recommend this to everyone.
I'm grateful for GoFundMe and for the donations I have received. Every donation, regardless of the amount, does help. Although I am a long way from my goal, I know that it is most likely due to the fact that I don't use social media. Many of my contributors also don't. I guess it's because we are older, and it's not something we are familiar with. But I am not losing hope that more donations may come in. Many people were affected by Hurricane Sally. Some more than myself. So choosing who to help is probably challenging. As I've said, I still have hopes that I'll meet my goal and thanks to everyone who has donated thus far!
Hi, I’ve been helping my sister in Poland to become independent through education. It came to a point where I didn’t have enough money to pay for 1.5 semesters. GoFundMe came to the rescue, and just in few days, all my friends and family came together and helped me raise the amount needed. My sister raised me when she was just 12 years old. My parents are disabled and deaf. She takes care of them. I was so touched to be able to help her. She has been so much. It was breaking my heart not being able to help her out. She is 49 years old and trying to stand on her feet. It’s a long way ahead but it’s a wonderful start. The web design was easy to use and I appreciate all the tips on how to make the fundraiser successful. Thank you so much for your help from my heart to yours.
My 4-year-old suddenly got sick with E.Coli 0157:HUS, and because of that, both my wife and I had to take time off work, and she had to take weeks off. Bills don't stop coming when you're at hospital bedside with your child. GoFundMe was an amazing tool in a time of need and allowed us to raise over $5000 to help keep our bills paid! We would not have been able to raise so much without GoFundMe!
Easy and stress-free. Which is great because I was so stressed when I turned to the GoFundMe campaign. I was just starting training at my new job, and after months of unemployment, my car was repo'd. I ran out of time for car notes and bills. Now I'm still behind on the rent, but I can focus a lot more clearly. I wish I had added it to my campaign needs. I'm glad this option was available.
With GoFundMe, I was able to raise over $300 for my project to give people who are homeless in Los Angeles masks in light of the COVID-19 pandemic. GoFundMe made it very easy to raise this amount. The link I was provided with was very helpful and to-the-point.
My son James is not like any other boy. He suffered a massive stroke during the delivery process which caused bilateral brain bleeding. Over the last year our family has been trying to work with insurance companies and government programs to help get the care needed to help improve our son's condition. Currently he can not hold his head up, eat by mouth, track, reach for toys, and sit up. We started our GoFundMe because we were tired of letting our son down because we couldn't get the programs needed through the normal channels. It has been the best decision ever. Its an easy to use, friendly platform to collect donations for your cause. After a week of campaigning, we have gotten our son feeding therapy, vision education, and HBOT dives.
