(Español abajo) Rosa is pregnant, due in August, with three kids ages 15, 14 and 5. On April 24th her husband, Jose, was taken by ICE on his way to work. Rosa was taking their three kids to school when they got the call that he had been detained, and in an instant the life they had built for their family was forever changed. Jose was quickly sent to a Louisiana detention center, and has since been deported to Guatemala. The family now finds itself without the love and support from Jose, who was the sole breadwinner, leaving them in an impossible situation. They are struggling to cover their basic necessities—food, rent, utilities, etc. This is especially difficult as Rosa is preparing to welcome a new baby while also taking care of their other 3 kids by herself. The emotional and financial toll on the entire family is overwhelming and they need your support. We are reaching out to ask for your help and contribution towards $13,770. The money raised here will be used by Rosa to help cover their rent, utilities, groceries and daily expenses of the family for 3 months. (Español abajo) Reginaldo Urgent Update May 9th: IMMEDIATE NEED FOR LEGAL FUNDS! On May 6th, Reginaldo had his court hearing for speeding violation and the judge signed the order that released him from detention. Yaneth and her family went to the detention center in Winchester to meet him but when they arrived they were told that he would not be let out because ICE had asked to look over his file. The lawyer who had helped with his motor vehicle case advised the family that he would not be held there for more than 48 hours. So their family, full of hope and anticipation, returned to the detention center yesterday to wait outside the prison for him to be released and to bring him home, but he never came out. In the early afternoon, Reginaldo called Yaneth to let her know that he had been handed over to ICE, leaving Reginaldo devastated, and Yaneth and her children more heartbroken than ever.. Yaneth and her family have now hired an immigration lawyer in order to file a habeas corpus petition and to represent him in court in the hopes of preventing his deportation. They urgently need to raise $8000 for this legal support while he is being held in Virginia. ———————————- This fundraiser is being shared on behalf of Yaneth and her family during an incredibly difficult and uncertain time. On April 16, 2026, Yaneth’s husband, Reginaldo, was detained in Winchester, Virginia. Since that day, their family has been navigating fear, separation, and the sudden loss of their only stable source of income. Yaneth is currently at home caring for their four children, and the family is expecting their fifth child. Their oldest son, 18, is preparing to graduate from high school. Their 13-year-old son, once full of energy, has become withdrawn and is struggling emotionally. Their youngest children — a toddler and a one-year-old — do not understand why their father has not come home. The toddler continues to ask for his Papa, while the youngest only senses his absence. Reginaldo is a deeply loving and devoted father who spent his free time playing with his children, and his absence has left a profound emptiness in the home. Reginaldo was told he could be released only if he agreed to return to Guatemala. After much prayer and reflection, he made the difficult decision to remain in detention, holding onto hope that there may still be a legal path forward for him to stay with his family in the United States. The family urgently hired an attorney, which required borrowing $3,500 and placed them immediately into debt. Reginaldo came to the United States from Guatemala in 2014, seeking safety, dignity, and the opportunity to build a better future for his children. He is a Mam-speaking member of the Indigenous Mam community and has built deep roots through his church and local community. For years, he has worked as a skilled electrician, providing for his family with dedication and integrity. He also serves as a catechist in his church, sharing his faith and supporting others in their spiritual journeys. The family’s faith is central to how they are navigating this moment. They wanted to share a verse that has been sustaining them: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.” — Psalm 34:18 With no income and full-time caregiving responsibilities, Yaneth is currently unable to work. The family urgently needs support to cover rent, utilities, groceries and diapers, car insurance, and legal fees (including the $3,500 already borrowed). Without assistance, they are at risk of falling behind on rent and losing their home. Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference for this family. First detained in Buffalo and now in Louisiana, he has lost 10 pounds as he, his wife and lawyer seek justice and freedom. The successful painting business he built employing 15 others and paying taxes over the past 2 decades has been decimated. The Catholic prayer group he and his wife hosted has sustained Marta during this traumatic time, but it has lost its charismatic leader. His wife and two girls, 8 yrs old and 10 months old, miss him greatly. The family and faith community were able to rally support to pay for a lawyer initially, but legal costs are mounting, the business is bankrupt, and family savings have been spent. There is one last chance to fight for his release, but it requires additional money for legal fees. The situation Marta faces is dire. As she fights to free Juan and unite with him, she can’t afford the lawyer’s fees and has no money to pay monthly bills that keep rolling in. As debts mount, she cannot work outside the house because she has to care for their infant. Her faith sustains her but she needs our material support. Wilmar was the unwavering pillar of his family, a devoted father to his stepchildren for six years. They deeply miss every part of him. Their cherished dream, born on the Venezuelan coast, was to live off the sea from their own fishing boat. That dream, and their home, were shattered when for fear of his safety, they were forced them to seek refuge in the United States. Here, far from the ocean and his dream, Wilmar tirelessly supported his family through long hours of food deliveries. But in October, tragedy struck. While simply delivering McDonald's to an Uber client, he was violently arrested. Now, he remains detained, caught in agonizing uncertainty about his release or deportation. His family, brutally torn apart by this event, now struggles for basic necessities: food on the table, rent paid, and the comforting warmth of being together. Without Wilmar, they feel adrift in this country. Should he be deported, they will desperately need assistance with plane tickets to reunite. In the interim, immediate help is vital for rent, utilities, and food.
