How's it going everybody, Pozermobil here bringing you an absolute banger of a decidedly very different kind of video today - I'm starting a GoFundMe to help out the rescue that helped me get my two best friends.
As some of you may know, I'm the proud dad to two Great Pyrenees pups - Sasha and Jackson - and I think it's safe to say that they're the best friends a person could have. Sure, there's a lot of fur everywhere and I'll have to clean dog drool off of my ceiling sometimes, but it's still worth it - they're big, intelligent, protective, very talkative loves that really would rather stay outside in the snow than be in the house most of the time. If you're a Spy X Family fan you already know one of these dogs - Bond, while not specifically stated to be a Pyr, is more than likely this breed - he certainly looks and acts the part, and if you've ever played the game Wargroove you'll recognize the goodest boy commander of the cherrystone kingdom, Caesar, who enjoys cheese sandwiches as much as my pups do - there's even a town in Minnesota that's had a Pyr as it's mayor since 2015 (Duke held the title for 2 terms before retiring, and now Khaleesi is in her first term as mayor.
My two are both rescues - Sasha was abandoned in Arkansas after the guy who bought her found that she had warts on her leg and tail (warts which bother neither her nor I), and Jackson was found simply walking the streets with his sister at two months old down in rural Tennessee - and that's where the whole purpose of this video comes in - I'm looking to help out the National Great Pyrenees Rescue, the group that helped me get my two best friends.
Now, I'm not going to make this into some kind of Sarah McLaughlin ASPCA type video with sad music and all that, but it would definitely be an understatement to say that these dogs are in need of some serious help. They come pre loaded with some very real genetic health issues like a pre disposition to elbow and hip dysplasia (Jackson has awful hips), skin issues (like Sasha's warts), eye issues, and GDV, which is a severe form of bloat that can affect dogs with a deep chest like the Great Pyrenees. On top of that, this is a breed that definitely needs a lot of knowledge on the owner's part because of how intelligent, strong, and independent they are - they're a livestock guardian breed for a reason, and they tend to not see much of a point in you telling them to sit or stay, and if you don't have a good fence in place they will absolutely just wander off.
That's where the national Great Pyrenees rescue (I'll call it NGPR from now on) comes in - they're the ones who find the dogs that need help, rescue them from whatever awful situation they're in, get them checked out at the vet, get them any medical help they need, transportation, getting them into foster homes, and, eventually, into their forever homes through adoption, plus providing every bit of knowledge a new Pyr parent could ever need. I've actually worked with them as a volunteer on the local level as a sort of inspector, going to visit the homes of people who are looking to adopt a Pyr to make sure that everything is good - if the people are fit to be Pyr parents or if they need some extra help, if the house is Pyr safe, if the fencing is adequate, stuff like that.
Now, I know that times are tough out there for everybody, so I completely understand if you don't have any extra money to give - if you can't, all I ask is that you share this with as many people as you can - the more eyes on this the more we as a community can help - but if you CAN spare some extra money, even if it's only a dollar, I think it would be awesome to send a donation from our trophy hunting community to help these pups out. They have their annual Pyr appeal going on right now which means that every donation is doubled by another organization, so the more we can get the better. I plan on running this every year from now on, so hopefully as our community continues to grow so too will our donation every year!
Alright that's going to do it for me though everybody. I've had the link on screen this entire time so you've probably figured out by now that that's the one you should go to so you can donate, but please head over to GoFundMe dot com slash pozermobil to donate or share that link with everybody you know so we can get more eyes on it! Everything you can give is tax deductible by the way, and aside from the small GoFundMe donation fee every single penny that you donate is going straight to NGPR, so let's do our best to help some big pups to be safe, healthy, and loved in a forever home.
