We are a group of former guests and future guests at this property, the GP, in Jamaica. Our goal is to support The Cats at the property and provide immediate veterinary care for cats in need. A group of us came together because we were concerned about the welfare of the cats on this property. In February 2026, there was a very unfortunate and traumatic incident that happened with a young pregnant female cat named Blink. She was missing one eye, very sickly, and was discovered by a guest at the resort who fortunately comes from a medical background. This guest’s plea for help led to several kind people coming together to facilitate Veterinary care for Blink. Unfortunately Blink and her unborn kittens were not able to be saved despite the efforts it took to get her to a local veterinary clinic. This incident with Blink led to the discovery of many sick cats living on this property. While Blink is no longer with us, so many cats need veterinary care and rescue. We have been trying to work with property management for many months, however things that have been promised have not been fully implemented. In cooperation with The Negril Spay and Neuter Clinic, the Hotel, and a team of volunteers, funds were raised, and a spay and neuter event was facilitated in May 2026. Approximately 20-25 cats from the property were spayed/neutered. Sadly, another 150+ cats need to be caught, assessed, spayed or neutered very soon because there are numerous kittens of various ages all throughout the property. Pictured here is Toffee, the much loved resident pool cat who is the sweetest girl you will ever meet, despite her having suspected “wobbly cat syndrome”, a neurological disorder that affects her motor functions. Toffee has never received medical care for her condition. She relies on guests around the pool to feed her and provide fresh water. Also pictured is young Arie, who has a serious case of suspected conjunctivitis. Tiger, the orange and white cat was at death’s door, but kindhearted guests took him under their care during their vacation when he was found lethargic, dehydrated, unable to walk or act like a kitten his age should. Tiger was hand-fed cat food brought by guests and spoon-fed water, and has improved so much under the care of these two families. Tiger needs to be assessed by a vet and neutered. So many more cats have eye conditions, worms, are generally in poor condition, and some have visible injuries and infections. Our goal to support The Cats at the Property in Jamaica is to provide immediate veterinary care for cats in need. We need to build a fund to support future spay and neuter clinics. We also hope to facilitate adoptions of these cats for guests who want to bring any of these cats home. All of this takes quite a bit of funding. With grateful hearts, we hope to receive enough funding to improve the lives of these innocent cats.
