<div>Beach debris, especially plastic contaminated with chemicals, is frequently carried into the sea by tides and waves. Once in the water, it is often ingested by birds and marine animals, causing injury, poisoning, and death. According to global statistics, more than one million marine animals — including mammals, fish, sharks, turtles, and seabirds — are killed each year due to plastic pollution. This crisis does not stop with wildlife; it also affects human well-being as contaminated marine life enters the food chain.

<div>Each week, we organise three-day coastal clean-up activities on some of the most polluted beaches across the UK. These activities include:

<div>sorting and gathering debris for proper recycling

<div>As part of the Clean Tide Project, we are also supporting local residents who have been financially affected by the coronavirus lockdowns. We provide part-time employment opportunities for individuals who have lost their jobs and are seeking a way to support themselves by participating in coastal cleaning efforts.

<div>All funds raised will go directly toward organising beach clean-ups and fairly compensating the participants who contribute their time and effort.

Save Our Shores

<div>The Kathleen &amp; May leaks badly through her hull and a temporary measure of applying sawdust in and around her hull has been applied. The sawdust gets drawn in by the inflow of water, it expands and temporarily seals the gap. When the vessel moves in the water, the sawdust washes out! The vessel is in need of emergency repairs if she is to survive.

<div>The goal of this epic 100-day fundraising appeal has been organised by the Kathleen &amp; May CIC, formed in 2024 and registered with Companies House to acquire and preserve this iconic vessel. Upon success in meeting the fundraising target, the Kathleen &amp; May be will be acquired by the CIC as a community vessel and will immediately dry-docked for emergency repairs in early 2026 at the world-leading shipyard of T. Nielsen &amp; Co in Gloucester Docks.

<div>Out of thousands of vessels, only one unconverted wooden sailing coastal schooner of this type survives, the Kathleen &amp; May. Launched in 1900 in Connah's Quay as the Lizzie May, she sailed from North Wales for eight years before she was sold to owners' in Youghal, Ireland. In 1931 she was sold again to owners in Appledore before she was she was laid up in 1961.

<div>In the 1970s she was selected as a cornerstone of the Maritime Trust as part of the National Historic Ships Fleet. In the late 90s, she was once again rescued and restored under new ownership in Bideford and displayed in Liverpool.
</div>

<div>The vision for the Kathleen &amp; May CIC through the Kathleen &amp; May is to honour the seafarers who made Britain's maritime trade possible and recognise who they were, the families that supported them, and the owners, shipbuilders, suppliers and agents that supported the trade.
</div>

</div>
<div>Beyond the emergency repairs, the longer term aim is to see a restored Kathleen &amp; May return to sail from the Port of Gloucester, a Heritage Harbour. The vessel would sail each summer to every corner of Britain and Ireland for 20 years as a research and exhibition centre. From the shore a graceful vessel will sail by, in harbours and seaports, the Kathleen &amp; May would be a compelling visitor attraction.

<div>The Kathleen &amp; May was designated a National Treasure by the Arts Council in 2011.  She is a cultural legacy of maritime transport, a survivor with one last chance to be saved.

<div>I feel that this would be incredibly appropriate due to Mr Farage taking such an active interest in the RNLI's activities right now. If there is any money left over, we will purchase a pint of real English ale to smash against the front in the naming ceremony, and if there is loads of money left over we may even buy a second vessel and call it 'The Galloping Grimes' or 'The Hovering Hopkins.'

<div>I know many of you already know me but for the people who don’t, my names Jordan and here’s my story.

<div>I was a normal happy person like everybody else. Unfortunately at the end of 2023 I was diagnosed with bone cancer at the age of 27. I underwent several rounds of inpatient chemotherapy and specialist proton beam radiotherapy. It was a tough ride and thankfully just over a year later I was given the all clear, I was in remission. 
</div>

<div>In April this year, 2025, I was re-diagnosed with the same cancer. I restarted chemotherapy but as time went on my cancer progressed. Sadly on my most recent scan it was confirmed the cancer has spread to other places in my body. Following this i was told my diagnosis was terminal and I have months left and not years.

<div>I have book a trip to New York as it has always been a dream of mine. Unfortunately, It was a bit of a shock that my travel insurance is going to be so high, which I did not anticipate. It’s going to be approximately minimum of £1500-£3000 depending on different companies and cover available to me.

<div>So this is why I have made the go fund me page to try and make my dream come true, as this insurance price was not expected.

Help Jordan get his dream in time

<div>Hello everyone and thank you so much for taking the time to read this. We are a group of Nicola’s friends and family, people who have laughed with her, leaned on her, grown up with her, and loved her for the incredible woman she is. Writing this is something we never imagined we would ever have to do, but we are coming together, united, to fight for our friend and to try everything in our power to give her the chance she so fiercely deserves.

<div>On the 2nd of October we were given the earth-shattering news that our wonderful Friend, Partner, Mamma, Daughter and Sister, Nic, has been diagnosed with Bilobar Hepatic Disease, following an initial visit to the doctor on the 15th of August this year. In simple terms, Nic has secondary cancer in her liver, but despite extensive and exhausting tests, doctors have been unable to locate where the primary cancer began. This makes treatment incredibly difficult, and on the 13th of November we were delivered the most devastating blow imaginable: Nic's case is incurable. CUP (cancer of unknown primary) has extremely limited treatment options here in the UK, with the NHS only able to offer her palliative treatment.

<div>This heartbreaking diagnosis is especially hard to comprehend because Nic is only 39 years old and is otherwise the picture of health and strength. In the last year alone, she has completed a triathlon, a marathon, and is an avid cyclist, having also completed her first century ride this year. She lives in the Northwest and is a devoted Mamma to her three beautiful boys, Roux (9), Rex (8), and Jude (5), and partner to Matthew. She is the heart of her family and a pillar of love, energy and resilience to everyone who knows her.
</div>

</div>
<div>As Nic’s friends and family, we refuse to accept that her story should end here. We are fighting with everything we have to get her to the right place for the right treatment. There are promising and potentially life-saving options available in Germany and beyond, treatments that simply are not offered or licensed here in the UK for people with CUP. But time is not on our side. Each day matters, and we urgently need to get Nic to Germany as soon as possible to give her the best chance.
</div>

<div>Through tireless research by Nic’s sister Laura, we’ve learned about specialists overseas who have extensive experience with complex cancers like Nic’s, and whose innovative treatments have helped many people manage their disease in ways they hadn’t been able to elsewhere. Their approaches have given patients stronger outcomes, more stability, and in some cases a better chance at longer survival. Knowing that such expertise exists, and that there is hope beyond what is available here, has been one of the few things keeping us going. We truly believe that getting her to these specialists in Germany as soon as possible could make a real difference. However, this is only one part of the puzzle, and the combined treatments she may need could cost more than £100k

<div>We never imagined we would find ourselves in this position, and we are pouring absolutely everything we have into giving Nic the chance she deserves. But the costs are overwhelming, and we cannot do this alone. Any contribution, no matter how small, will help bring us closer to getting Nic the specialist treatment she so desperately needs.

<div>To give Nic the best possible chance, we urgently need to raise funds to cover the cost of specialist medical treatment, as well as the travel and accommodation expenses involved. These treatments are not available on the NHS, and the financial burden is far beyond anything her family can manage alone. Every single pound raised will go directly toward giving Nic access to the care she desperately needs, as quickly as possible.

Unfortunately the life coach a mental health bus got broken into. Tom does so much for hundreds of people in Gloucestershire so why not give back to him?
