This project is led by a group of proactive and socially conscious students who are determined to tackle the growing issue of beach pollution and reduce its harmful impact on our environment. It is time to make the UK’s cherished coastlines cleaner, safer, and more beautiful — and to preserve them for the generations that follow.

Beach debris, especially plastic contaminated with chemicals, is frequently carried into the sea by tides and waves. Once in the water, it is often ingested by birds and marine animals, causing injury, poisoning, and death. According to global statistics, more than one million marine animals — including mammals, fish, sharks, turtles, and seabirds — are killed each year due to plastic pollution. This crisis does not stop with wildlife; it also affects human well-being as contaminated marine life enters the food chain.

Giving Back to the Environment

Each week, we organise three-day coastal clean-up activities on some of the most polluted beaches across the UK. These activities include:

recruiting volunteers from local communities

manually collecting plastic, aluminium, and other waste left behind

sorting and gathering debris for proper recycling

Giving Back to the Community

As part of the Clean Tide Project, we are also supporting local residents who have been financially affected by the coronavirus lockdowns. We provide part-time employment opportunities for individuals who have lost their jobs and are seeking a way to support themselves by participating in coastal cleaning efforts.

All funds raised will go directly toward organising beach clean-ups and fairly compensating the participants who contribute their time and effort.
