<div>hi my names Stephanie I was recently a victim of a hit-and-run as a pedestrian. I <strong>was given the right of way, but once i was almost done crossing, the driver sped up.</strong> I do believe this was intentional, as they ran me over twice and fled the scene. There is footage of the crash and what side of the gas station they turned to, but unfortunately, there is no clear view of the plates from the gas station.

Thankfully, no surgery was necessary, but it will take 3 months for a full recovery. Right now, I am in a walker and wheelchair now. Due to the hospital not taking my insurance, I am overwhelmed and unsure what to do. I feel very helpless knowing that i don’t have much and that the person might’ve gotten away. He developed severe, unpredictable seizures, lost bowel control, and began suffering from debilitating muscle issues that limit his mobility. He has seen dozens of specialists across multiple major medical centers and has undergone every test imaginable, including advanced whole genome and exome sequencing at the Mayo Clinic.

<div>As many of you may have heard, our mom, Sally Cullen, suffered a devastating house fire in the early hours of Friday morning, March 28th. Her home — and her beloved dogs — were lost.

<div>The fire broke out in the middle of the night. My sister was asleep in the basement when she heard faint screams for help. She rushed upstairs to find our mom engulfed in flames and the house already overtaken. She tried to drag her toward the nearest door, but they quickly became trapped — until, somehow, our mom, rose up and managed to push through, getting herself and my sister to safety. Miraculously, they made it out alive.

<div>Sally is now in critical condition in a medically induced coma, with severe burns across her body. She is currently at the Oregon Burn Center and will require long term rehabilitation. But if you know our mom, you know this: she is the toughest woman we know and has an unshakable will to survive. She <em>will</em> recover though her road ahead will be incredibly long and difficult.

<div>What many might not know is that this tragedy comes just six months after she was hospitalized for severe pneumonia, spending weeks in the ICU and in recovery. She was still finding her footing from that experience when this happened. Tragic Fishing Accident - Support Michael Shufeldt's Family

<div>On the night of Wednesday August 14th, my daughter Quan’Naejia standing outside responded to her neighbor informing her that it looked as if her bedroom was on fire. Unfortunately, this was the case. As she seen the flames coming from her bedroom, she called the fire department. Based on the fire departments investigation, the fire started from electrical issue with an AC unit plugged in the wall. She and the children have lost everything. Although the fire started in her bedroom due to the extensive amount of smoke, she has been advised that everything is unsalvageable. She had no rentals insurance. She is on an emotional roller coaster at this time, with the thought of starting from scratch. Our family is providing her with as much support as they can. She is reaching out to the community for any extra help, because this problem is bigger then anyone could ever imagine. She has three children two girls ages 9 and 5, and one son 10 months old who was with her outside the time of the fire. The girls were not home. As money will go towards furnishing her new apartment and any extra clothing and supplies she may need for the kids as she has now stopped working. Any donations provided is greatly appreciated. <div>Our first night of vacation quickly turned into our greatest nightmare. Thomas was killed by a drunk driver and in the process Thomas saved 3+ family members lives. To know Thomas, was to love him. He just had that personality, he would do anything to help anyone and loved fiercely. His girls are what made his world go round. He and Makenzie just celebrated their one year wedding anniversary on July 31st. Makenzie recently found out last week that she was expecting. Thomas will never get the chance to meet their unborn baby due to a selfish, senseless man who took everything from him and us. We want to do everything in our power to make sure that the man who did this gets everything that’s coming and then some. We’re doing everything we can to help but Thomas was the sole provider in their family. They don’t have much cushion to financially navigate this brutal season of life and that’s why I’m here asking for help. This would be used for lawyer fees, funeral arrangements, bills etc. The last thing a widow and her children need to worry about is how to bury their loved one and get the justice that Thomas deserves. In Memory of Bella Brave: Support Her Family In Time of Need

<div>My name is Keith and I am starting this GoFundMe campaign for my coworker Mark and his children (Noah, Bradley and Hannah). On Friday June 14th, 2024 the families home caught fire and they lost nearly everything. Noah is a Sophomore in high school and a promising state wrestler at Aloha High school. Hannah is the youngest and has just turned 9 this year. <div>At 4 am January 14, Ian and Bri De Kalb were awoken by a fire in the old church next door at NE 62nd/Stanton in Portland. The fire spread quickly and ignited the side of the De Kalb’s home within a matter of minutes. Luckily, they got themselves, their 1 year old daughter and their big malamute Russel out safely, but aside from the clothes on their backs, they have little to nothing left and their house will be uninhabitable for several months. One of their two vehicles and Bri’s work vehicle literally melted in the driveway due to the severe heat. Their cat was missing but thankfully has been found and hopefully will be OK. To top it off, Bri is pregnant with their 2nd child.

<div>On Saturday, December 16, 2023, three of the former Afghan Air Force pilots, now residing in the United States, were killed in a single engine plane crash in Independence, Oregon. Major Mohammad Bashir Safdari, Major Sayed Hussain Musawi, and Lieutenant Ali Jan Ferdawsi were C-208 pilots of the Afghan Air Force and received their pilot's wings under a U.S. Air Force training program in conjunction with Raytheon Technologies. All three Afghan officers worked with their American military advisors until the takeover of Afghanistan by the Taliban on August 15, 2021.

<div>As the Taliban closed in on the capital city of Kabul, Afghanistan that fateful day in August 2021, the remaining elements of the Afghan Air Force and Special Mission Wing flew their aircraft, under fire, out of Afghanistan to the neighboring countries of Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. This heroic action prevented the aircraft from falling into the hands of the Taliban, but also meant leaving their families and loved ones behind in Afghanistan. Major Safdari, Major Musawi, and Lieutenant Ferdawsi flew to Tajikistan where they were placed in a detention camp for more than two months, then sent to another camp to the United Arab Emirates, and eventually brought to the United States as part of Operation Allies Welcome where they were placed in refugee camps on U.S. military bases. Resettled around the United States, these men and women of the Afghan Air Force and Special Mission Wing were granted Humanitarian Parole because a return to Afghanistan would have resulted in their execution by the Taliban.

<div>Major Safdari and Major Musawi graduated from the National Military Academy of Afghanistan, and Lieutenant Ferdawsi graduated from the Afghan Air Force Academy. All three officers were married with children. These families remained behind, and in hiding, in Afghanistan. The officers sent money home each month to support their families and were their sole sources of financial support in a country where the U.N. estimates 94% of families face food shortages.

As it was stated before, Rena is the only person that provides for these kids and these babies want for nothing. She does an amazing job taking care of them. She has to work a lot to give them the life she believes they deserve. This money that we are trying to raise up will give her the opportunity to stay home for a bit and walk through this with her family and take of the other two babies that are counting on her to show them that they are all going to be ok (eventually). For right now though, we are all just trying to make sense of things. <div>Baby, Eleanor Jane Mason, was born on November 17th to Joshua and Hope Mason.

<div>The parents did no genetic testing and the prenatal anatomy scan failed to show any signs of defects or abnormalities with Eleanor’s heart.

<div>Upon her birth, Eleanor displayed physical characteristics consistent with Down’s Syndrome. These characteristics, coupled with a low blood oxygen level at 12-hours old led to her being admitted to Salem NICU.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At the NICU an Echocardiogram showed serious heart defects, including a complete AV Canal, a narrow Aortic Arch, and that the left side of her heart was significantly smaller than it should be. These concerns were too serious to be handled at the Salem NICU, so the family was sent to Randall Children’s Hospital.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Further testing at Randall’s determined that surgery to repair the narrow Aortic Arch was necessary. This surgery was successful, but due to swelling from surgery, they were unable to close her chest. Eleanor’s chest remained open for 5 days after surgery while doctors tried to get her swelling down and her heart working the way it needed to.
</div>

</div>
<div>At the 5-day mark it was highly likely that given the inability for the left side of Eleanor’s heart to grow and work the way it was needing to, that a surgery would be necessary to bypass the left side of her heart entirely through a ‘Single Ventricle Surgery’.
</div>

<div>This surgery was extremely risky, especially given the other heart defects and the Down’s Syndrome. Doctors put her chance at survival through the surgery at 75%. And if she survived The surgery it would drastically diminish her life expectancy.
</div>

<div>Doctors gave her another 48 hours from Sunday, December 4th at 12pm to see if her heart could function properly. But if it was still unable to do so by noon on Tuesday the 6th, they would need to perform this surgery.

<div>Meet Iryna and Ivan (and a sonogram of the baby they are expecting) from Mariupol, Ukraine. They escaped Mariupol March 2nd, 2022 and traveled for over a month to get to safety. They arrived at Ivan's brothers home in Clackamas, Oregon on April 9th. </div><div><br></div><div>Before the Russian invasion Iyrna and Ivan had just purchased their first home in Mariupol and were excited for the birth of their first child who is due in September. They were working and living a normal life. </div><div><br></div><div>Then on February 24th, 2022 Russia invaded Ukraine. On March 2nd Iryna and Ivan fled Mariupol after a rocket  exploded just 20 meters from their apartment. </div><div>They left everything,  just grabbed 2 bags,  documents and started the long way to a new life. </div><div><br></div><div>They stayed in different places in Ukraine for two weeks.  Then on March 16th they fled to Poland.  And on April 6th they flew to Mexico and on April 9th crossed the board to USA. I truly cannot imagine what they have been through. Their whole world being bombed and only having a few possessions they could carry.  </div><div><br></div><div>They are now Ukrainian refugees staying with my friend Viktoriia and her family. Ivan is Viktoriia’s brother in law. She is a wonderful person who helps me so much. It is hard for her to ask for help but now they are in desperate need. They need money for the extra food needed. </div><div><br></div><div>Ivan and Iryna are both trying to get a work visas so they can start building their new life. But the process is slow because the system wasn’t in place for Ukrainian refugees. Ivan is an electrical engineer and Iryna is a school teacher and choir director. </div><div><br></div><div>Until then they need money for food, for rent. Funds to help Ivan and Iryna to set up a new life here - an apartment, furniture and things like kitchen supplies. They also need to pay back the money for the flights required for them to get to safety. </div><div><br></div><div>In addition to Ivan and Iryna, Viktoriia and her husband have another family with children coming soon. She and her husband are looking for a larger home to prepare for their families arrival. </div><div><br></div>

<div>Joel Tranby, a 21-year-old Bend resident, was climbing North Sister with his girlfriend on Monday, July 17, when he fell about 300 feet down the Collier Glacier. He was very badly injured but still able to talk. About two hours later, he fell an unknown distance and out of sight. He has not been found. His girlfriend, Fiona Curley, was transported by helicopter off of the mountain.

<div>Joel’s family is thankful to Lane County Search and Rescue, Eugene Mountain Rescue, Corvallis Mountain Rescue, Deschutes County Search and Rescue, the sheriff’s offices from both counties and all the others who helped look for Joel. Due to treacherous conditions and the time lapsed since his fall, rescuers ended their search late Tuesday.

<div>It is devastating not to be able to bring Joel home. After the search was called off, some of Joel’s family and friends traveled to the mountain Wednesday to try to find him.

<div>Joel was a person who loved the outdoors – hiking and recreating in Central Oregon. Family memories include hiking 12 miles in one day with his entire family of eight – his parents and five younger siblings – without a single complaint among any of them.

<div>Joel was the first to be born, and he was followed by his sister. They were followed by their four younger siblings, whom their parents adopted from China. This is a beautiful family with such a big heart and full of so much love.
</div>

<div>Not only was he a fantastic older brother to his siblings, he was a “buddy” for several summers at Camp Attitude, a special needs camp in Oregon. Another family memory: He traveled to Florida to Pirate Camp, a camp for children with amputations, with his two brothers who were born without arms. Once there, he helped them go deep-sea fishing for the first time.

<div>It’s so tragic to see Joel’s young life come to an end like this.

<div>Joel would have done so much good in his life. His family wants his life to continue to do good by creating a scholarship in his memory at Oregon State University – Cascades, where he would have graduated this December with a degree in business administration.

<div>Ajike's children were playing in a field next to an Ocala apartment complex when an unidentified 58-year-old white woman reportedly began yelling at them and calling them racial slurs. The children left but accidentally left an iPad behind, which the woman took. When one of the children went to her residence to retrieve it, she threw it, hitting the boy and cracking the screen. After Ajike's children informed her of what happened, she walked across the street with her kids to speak with the woman. She knocked on the door, and at that point, the woman allegedly shot through the door, hitting Ajike, who later died from her injuries. The woman responsible has not yet been identified, arrested, or charged with anything by law enforcement.

She was a single mother whose life centered around her children. She was the Team Mom for her children’s football/cheerleading teams. She excelled professionally as a manager in the Restaurant/Hospitality industry. She was a devoted Christian who believed in bringing her kids up in a supportive Christian environment. After being a devoted mother, she was a devoted friend that took friendships to heart. There wasn’t anything that she wouldn’t do for those near and dear to her heart. She often would give to other single mothers that were in similar situations that she’d been in.

<div>On 4/11/2023, our family was blindsided by a call that would break us to pieces. A call informing us that our sister, <strong>JoAnna Speaks</strong>, who is a daughter and a mother of three, was found deceased.

<div>I broke the news to her two boys- Juan (13), and Braxton (12)- while her daughter, Meilani (7) was informed by her father. It was one of the most difficult and heart-wrenching things we've ever had to do.

<div><strong>JoAnna's passing is ruled a homicide, being murdered in an unknown location with her body dumped on an abandoned property near a run-down barn.</strong>

<div>We are asking for any donations, no matter how small, to go towards the cost of her cremation and burial- we were not prepared for such an expense financially, especially with it being so sudden and unexpected. <div>Hi, my name is Jodi Robertson and I am fundraising for the Haptonstall Family.  Their son Nolan (8 years old) was in a very bad accident yesterday while hiking on the Oregon Coast with family friends.   The trail they were hiking on became very steep and narrow, and Nolan slipped and fell down the embankment.  Rescue teams were called but due to the extreme conditions of the terrain, the US Coast Guard had to assist.  After nearly three hours, the Ropes team was able to bring Nolan up, where he was life-flighted to Gold Beach by the Coast Guard.  Upon arrival at the hospital, they realized that while Nolan was very lucky to be alive, he sustained a major head injury.  Nolan was again life-flighted to OHSU, where he had surgery this morning to fix his skull fracture.  He has been removed from sedation and is currently waking up, which are all good signs, but he has a long road ahead of him for recovery.

<div>Nolan's family is by his side up in Portland, exactly where they should be.  As we all know, life is expensive, but this situation will cause Mike and Alyssa to both be out of work for an unknown amount of time.  Along with the added expense of being out of town, the family will also be facing medical bills they were not expecting.  This family is always the first to step up to offer help to others, no matter the circumstances.  Please if you are able, donate.  Every little bit will help relieve some stress on the Haptonstall's as they navigate Nolan's recovery.

We will never understand this side of heaven why God decided it was time to call him home so soon. As most of you know, Brandon leaves behind the love of his life, Alissa and 2 precious daughters. <div>On Thursday, April 13, 2023, my nephew Ralph P Yarl was on his way to pick up his twin younger brothers from their friend's house a few blocks away from his house. He didn't have his phone. He mistakenly went to the wrong house, one block away from the house where his siblings were. He pulled into the driveway and rang the doorbell. The man in the home opened the door, looked my nephew in the eye, and shot him in the head. My nephew fell to the ground, and the man shot him again. Ralph was then able to get up and run to the neighbor's house, looking for help.

<div>Unfortunately, he had to run to 3 different homes before someone finally agreed to help him after he was told to lie on the ground with his hands up.
</div>

<div>Ralph Pual Yarl is a fantastic kid, and I am not just saying this because he is my nephew. He truly is. At school, he is a member of the Technology Student Association and Science Olympia Team. Jazz and competition band. He is a section leader in the marching band; a scholar and one of the top bass clarinet players in Missouri. He recently earned Missouri All-State Band recognition with an honorable mention. He plays multiple instruments in the metropolitan youth orchestra. He is a 2022 Missouri scholar academy alumni. Ralph can often be found with a musical instrument. He loves them all.

<div>Last summer, Ralph attended Missouri Scholar’s Academy, where he got a full college life experience. His goal is to attend Texas A&amp;M to major in chemical Engineering. When asked how he plans to get into this university, he said, “Well, if they have a scholarship for music or academics, I know I can get it.”

<div>Ralph's teacher and friends describe him as “ a kind soul,” “quiet,” “friendly,” “well-mannered,” “always willing to help,” “super smart,” and a “musical genius.”

<div>Ralph was looking forward to graduating high school and finally getting the opportunity to visit West Africa before starting college.
</div>

<div>Life looks a lot different right now. Even though he is doing well physically, he has a long road ahead mentally and emotionally. The trauma that he has to endure and survive is unimaginable. He is our miracle. We have heard these types of stories many times, and unfortunately, most black boys are not alive to get another chance.

<div>Ralph deserves to have the future that he has dreams about. He deserves to be the light that shows the world that LOVE wins and that humanity is still Good.

<div>Aron and his sweet 4 month-old puppy, Buzz, were found dead just off the Walupt Lake trail by two hikers on Saturday, August 20th, 2022. The couple immediately trekked nearly 4 miles to inform authorities.
</div>

<div>Our family is grateful to these good samaritans and those who helped them for their immediate and compassionate response.
</div>

<div>Amid many questions and speculations in those first weeks, a coroner working the case told our family it was the “strangest case they had seen in over 20 years.”
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Two difficult months later, on Oct. 26, the Lewis County Coroner officially confirmed that Aron died of a gunshot wound to the chest. His case was deemed a homicide.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The man who shot Aron confessed to the crime but was never arrested. His 17-year-old girlfriend was also present when he killed Aron and Buzz. According to the Sheriff, the couple later admitted that they knew both Aron and the dog were dead on Friday, August 19; still, they left them on the trail and “continued hiking.” Two days passed after the event before a family member of the shooter notified the Sheriff on Sunday, August 21, of the incident.

<div>We are confused, disheartened, and exasperated by the handling of this case and fully believe that by now, over 90 days after Aron was killed, arrests should be made.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On Thursday, Oct. 27, the Lewis County Sheriff’s Office released a statement reporting they had sent the case to the prosecutor's office because Aron Christensen’s manner of death was ruled a homicide.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Six days later, we learned that the prosecutor’s office referred the case back to the Sheriff’s office for further investigation where it still remains as of November 18th. The family repeatedly requested autopsy reports for Aron’s puppy, Buzz - but none have been provided.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Due to the unorthodox nature of this investigation, our family has obtained an attorney to help us navigate this tragic situation. We have continuously been left with more questions than answers. For months, we have received unprofessional speculations, conflicting information and even censure for speaking out from the Lewis County authorities.
</div>

<div>We are seeking justice for our son, brother, uncle and friend. <strong>We will not give up.</strong>
