<div>For 46 years West Bank Cafe has been a popular theater district haunt. It has been a launching pad for countless musicians, actors, comedians, and writers — a “must visit” for tourists, a “go to” for locals and a perfect spot for a business meeting, a pre-theater meal or after show drinks with friends.

<div>The road post-pandemic has not been an easy one, but Steve Olsen and the incredible staff at The West Bank Cafe have soldiered on and sacrificed to keep the Cafe afloat. Unfortunately, the challenges have become overwhelming and without our help, our beloved Cafe will close for good in late August.

<div>There were many factors that have led to this situation, but the largest and most unjust was that The West Bank Cafe was overlooked for the RRF grant, which is the reason most restaurants were able to make it post-pandemic. To make matters worse, due to an unfair and ridiculous technicality they were also denied the SVOG. Either of these grants would have made it possible for The West Bank to flourish over the past three years. Being denied both has resulted in the current situation.

<div>The West Bank Cafe will turn 50 in four years, and we must make sure that we are able to toast Steve, eat risotto balls together on the day of the iconic venue's golden anniversary.

<div>The West Bank Café is more than a restaurant and performance space. So many of us have celebrated birthdays, weddings, opening nights, closing nights, Tony wins, Tony losses, and everything in between there. Everyone is treated like a VIP when they walk through those doors.

<div>The West Bank is home to The Laurie Beechman Theater -a legendary venue that is as vital to the New York theater scene as any Broadway house or Non-profit theater. There are less and less rooms in Manhattan for artists to birth new work in a safe and supportive environment. The loss of the downstairs performance space at the West Bank would be devastating to the community.. The Laurie Beechman is more than a beloved cabaret, it is an important piece of New York City theatrical history.

<div>It is the stage where Joan Rivers performed her final set. It is the room where the original cast of Sunday in the Park With George rehearsed. It is where the Tony Award-winning play Side Man debuted, where Aaron Sorkin's first two works were produced, where Lewis Black and Rusty Magee cut their teeth, Where countless Oscar, Grammy, Emmy, Tony, and MAC Award-winning artists have developed new pieces. So many stars have not only played but have been born at the Laurie Beechman Theater.

 Outside of the communities he loved, he was a brother, a son, a family member, and a friend. He had so many family members and friends who loved and cared about him, and his absence is something we are all still trying to process.

The niche will not only hold his ashes but also has enough space for us to place meaningful personal items alongside him—pieces of the things he loved and reminders of the life he lived. It will give his family and loved ones a permanent place to visit him, remember him, and feel close to him.

<p>Hi, my name is Chris Mars, and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my brother Jesse Mars, who has taken on a tremendous burden in the wake of our father’s recent passing.

<p>For years, my brother paid two rents — one for his own house in Atlanta, and one for half our dad’s apartment lease — just to make sure our father had a safe place to live. Now, regardless of providing a death certificate, the leasing office is still holding my brother financially responsible for the final two months of rent, totaling $3,600, (not including utilities) because the lease was in his name.

<div>This is Willie and Angela Walker coming to you on behalf of our son Dominic, who is 21 years old. In January 2024, months before Dominic's graduation from the University of North Carolina (Greensboro), he was stricken with osteosarcoma - a metastasizing bone cancer.  Over the last five months (Feb-July), Dominic was hospitalized at a well-respected North Carolina hospital, over 80 miles from our home.  During this time, we moved to a nearby apartment so that we could be with our son full-time and stay on top of his medical care.  Unfortunately, after aggressive chemotherapy treatments, their treatment plan was not as effective as we had hoped, and his cancer has spread to his spine, lungs and skull and has caused paralysis from the chest down.

<div>Dominic’s NC doctors recently told us that they didn’t have any more treatments that would benefit Dominic. After researching, we discovered a cancer specialty medical center in Scottsdale, Arizona that uses conventional and non-conventional methods. Because the AZ hospital uses some non-conventional methods, insurance will only pay for a small percentage of treatment costs.  We need help covering the costs for his hospital treatments, in addition to transportation and lodging for 14 weeks.  We are working diligently to do all that we can to get our son the medical care that he needs, so that he can fulfill his God-given purpose. Financial Burdens

<div>Meet Nebula, our 8 month old sweetheart who has captured our hearts. From what we’ve been told, Nebula has had a murky past and a rocky history, she was the runt of her litter, and abandoned by her breeders because they believed she wouldn’t be able to breed with their males. She was dumped and abandoned. She came to us from a loving foster mommy who helped get her healthy and up to date on all of her shots and vaccines. She’s been with us happy, healthy, and spoiled with love for the past 3 months.

<div>Unfortunately, within the past week Nebula’s health has rapidly declined. After dozens of vet visits, x-rays, bloodwork, and an ultrasound it was determined that she would need surgery for a very complex liver procedure, essentially an internal liver shunt repair. The materials alone for this procedure are around $10,000+. The surgery once performed typically allows the dog to have a normal healthy life, which is why we are willing to take a chance on it.

<div>My wife Jackie and I have never asked for assistance before with pet care, so this has been a difficult endeavor from the start for us. We have two other dogs, and three cats. <div>Let me tell you some of Avery's story:

<div>When she was young, her parents divorced - and then when Avery was eleven, her step-father died in a highway accident and her mother passed away from fatal skin cancer shortly afterwards.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avery moved in with her biological father, unprepared to raise a child, who had significant struggles with substance abuse and was extremely volatile.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avery assumed a significant amount of responsibility for maintaining the household at a very young age - managing the household finances and correspondence, negotiating with landlords and working many hours to help pay her own tuition at a local private Catholic school. Despite the loss, trauma and chaos surrounding her, Avery was able to maintain excellent grades in school, hold down a job, and consistently volunteer to help others in her community.
</div>

</div>
<div>It was at this time that my own teenagers met Avery and formed a friendship with her. Avery's kindness and resilience were apparent from the first moment we met her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avery's father became increasingly unstable and abusive, and Avery did her best to keep up appearances and her functioning at school, but eventually reported the abuse to a school counselor who contacted New Mexico's Child Youth and Families Department (child welfare services) who arranged temporary housing for her and then promptly closed her case - offering no other services, follow up or support.
</div>

</div>
<div>At that time, I became involved in trying to get some safety, housing and support to Avery.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avery was, through all of this chaos, able to graduate from high school with honors and a 4.3 grade point average and received her Catholic school's Founder's Award for the student who most exemplifies Franciscan values.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Avery is now attending the University of San Francisco, which is an excellent fit for her values and is also the school that offered her the most significant aid package. She has taken out the maximum federal loans that are available to her. She has received a generous Ignatius Merit Scholarship based on her excellent grades.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She is exploring work/study options that might be compatible with her rigorous STEM class schedule. She is a biology student who hopes to go onto graduate school to study neuroscience.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Despite her hard work, Avery is still without sufficient funds for her educational and life expenses for the next three years.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Listen: If all of us who love Avery had the means to simply pay all of uncovered expenses we would do so. None of us on Team Avery have sufficient funds among us to support her in the way we all believe she deserves.

<div><strong>For academic year 2025-26</strong> Avery’s current shortfall is around $8500, after food stamps, summer income, and fundraising.

<div>Avery worked and saved over the summer, and is actively looking for work during the school year that is compatible with her study schedule.

<div><strong>For academic year 2026-27: </strong>Assuming she gets the same financial aid package for her senior year 2026-27 - we will again be negotiating a short fall of $15k for her final year of school.

<div>I have adjusted the GFM fundraising goal down from $70,000 to $24,000 to reflect our current status at the half-way point!

<div><strong>Only $24,000 left to graduation - these funds will be directed toward </strong> <strong>school costs, room and board, insurance, medical expenses, transportation &amp; psychotherapy.</strong>

Helping Avery Get Through University

<div>I'm raising money for surgery that Rolo, needs.
</div>

<div>If you do not already know Rolo, he is a 4 year old French Bulldog who has spent every day of his life so far dedicated to spreading love, joy, &amp; laughter to everyone he meets in Seattle, Washington, and he needs your help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Rolo recently had a serious fall where he landed squarely on his back. Although it took him a few seconds to get up and he seemed a bit shaken by the fall, he was up and walking around spreading his usual love a few moments later —so we thought he was fine. But he wasn’t.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, a couple of days later we noticed Rolo’s gait seemed “floppy” and his feet and legs were not in step with one another, so a veterinary appointment was made. Less than 48 hours later Rolo’s condition escalated to the point where he began struggling to walk and when he was able to make steps the tips of his feet become bloodied from hitting the ground the wrong way, so an emergency vet visit to the Ravenna Animal Hospital was in order. It was here that Rolo was first diagnosed with IVDD, Intervertebral disc disease.

<div>We hoped that rest and medication would help Rolo, but over the pasr 3 weeks he has become acutely worse.  Rolo  can no longer navigate up or down any amount of stairs, he cannot walk more than a few steps without falling, nor can he lift his leg to pee. His situation is becoming worse each day, yesterday incontinence became a factor. 
</div>

<div>All of this is not only frustrating for Rolo, who is normally an active and happy guy, but the worst part is this is increasingly painful for Rolo. 
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We took Rolo to the NORTHEAST VETERINARY HOSPITAL for an exam to get updated on his condition and a second opinion. Here it was made clear to us that Rolo has no other choice but immediate surgery. However, the $10,000 cost is extremely prohibitive, and it also must be paid in advance. As much as I hate to have to ask, it is too difficult to see Rolo in pain.

<div>It has been heartbreaking to watch Rolo deteriorate so quickly  knowing relief for him exists out there -but the immediacy of the costs make it out of Rolo’s reach …without your help.

Rolo Needs Surgery

<div>In the early morning of Sunday, April 23, my brother’s family suffered an unimaginable loss to their home of 27 years due to a horrific house fire. The family of seven and the family dog escaped, but they lost their beloved cat. While the Morristown and surrounding Fire Departments did a fantastic job, they could not stop the blaze before it rendered the house uninhabitable, and they lost most of their possessions. They were only able to leave with the clothes they were wearing.   While the family seeks to rebuild, recovery will be extremely long and challenging. There are no obligations, but if you can find it in your heart to donate, it will be greatly appreciated.

Morristown family house fire

<div>I’ve begun this Go Fund Me on behalf of my daughter, Grayson. On Sunday afternoon, Feb 5, 2023, a fire broke out in her kitchen. She was 10 minutes from home at the time, and against the Fire Dept’s urging, ran into the house anyway to rescue her two puppies who were home alone. Grayson has asthma, and she &amp; the pups were treated by EMS at the scene. The puppies are “her children” and thankfully checked out okay at her vet yesterday. Unfortunately, however, her house is not.

<div>The damage to Grayson’s home is greater than we imagined. She initially thought it was confined to the kitchen, but upon walking through with her insurance representative yesterday, it was clear the upstairs guest room sustained extensive damage as well, including a ceiling fan that melted. This room also doubles as her home office, and since Covid, my daughter has worked from home (pharmaceutical trials). She additionally had an Etsy sticker side business which she’d worked on diligently the last several months.

<div>The kitchen/dining room will be a total loss, as well as much of the house’s wiring &amp; electronics, including the upstairs bedroom/office. In the meantime, Grayson, her partner Ellis, and their 2 puppies (Daisy &amp; Brodie) have been displaced and are residing with family. It will be weeks before they’ll be able to return.

<div>We’re all humble people &amp; find it awkward asking for help, but because this was an unplanned emergency, there are so many things she needs so she can at least return to work &amp; resume her Etsy business.

Hi, my name is Kristen and I am raising money for my brother-in-law's husband who unfortunately has recently been diagnosed with stomach cancer that has spread to his brain. Ron Mulligan is a bright soul whose life tragically took a traumatic turn on October 16th when he fell ill and was rushed to the hospital. <p>Hi there! I’m AG. I’m currently fundraising because my life decided to take an interesting turn, and I’ve found myself with a cancer diagnosis. There’s some pretty big tumors on my left knee that has caused me problems for years, but only recently revealed itself as something for sinister. I’m approaching a surgery where they’re planning on removing the lower half of my femur, so they can get to the tumors and then we’ll be able to get more info on what exactly is going on. The surgery will determine whether or not I’ll be going through chemotherapy as well. No matter what, I know the days ahead will be trying. Since I won’t be able to work, my biggest concerns are going to be rent, car payments, student loan bills and the medical bills that will start flooding in. Juanita Thompson, a long time resident of Randolph passed away suddenly yesterday.  Anyone who knew Juanita knows that she was spotted at every high school lacrosse game, football game, girls lacrosse game and more.<br /><br />Juanita was so full of life and was the kind of Randolph mom who would do anything for anyone without even a moment's notice.  <br /><br />She leaves behind two children, Leila Cromartie and Ahmir Perry.  Leila is a junior at RHS and Ahmir is a senior.   Adjusting to life without Juanita will be emotionally and financially very difficult as she was a single mother who managed to move heaven and earth to care for her family.<br /><br />As a community, let's come together to assist Leila and Ahmir following this tragic and devastating loss.<br /><br />Thank You

<p>Hi friends and strangers! We are <strong>Todd Siff</strong> and <strong>Matt Live</strong> from the band <strong>Freerunner</strong>.  We are currently in the process of recording our sophomore record, "<strong>The Logic We Don't Understand,</strong>" in Austin, Texas. Our story began four years ago when we met by chance; Todd was picking up Chinese delivery from our apartment building's front gate.  Todd said, "You play music, don't you?" So began our collaborations together. Now four years later, <strong>we have an incredible opportunity to record an album of our co-written songs with a producer who has worked with the likes of many of our favorite artists</strong>, including Coldplay, Simon and Garfunkel, Ben Folds, Dream Theater, Five For Fighting, and many more.<br /><br />We are here because recording costs add up quickly. We have to pay our producer/engineer, backing musicians, studio fees, rehearsals, and to have the songs mixed and mastered. Although we have in place a budget that will allow us to make the album on our own, our producer/engineer is moving away in mid-June, so our window to make our budget is very narrow. We heard that people do these "crowdfunding" things these days and figured we could give it a shot!<br /><br /><strong>We know that with a little extra help from our fans, friends, family, and supporters, we can make "The Logic We Don't Understand" extremely special.</strong> Unlike most crowdfunding sites, GoFundMe doesn't allow us to add perks - however, with any donation we will gladly send you a digital copy of the record upon it's completion.</p>
