<div>Jerry and Christine (Ryan) Walters lost their home and all of their possessions in a disastrous house fire Wednesday, August 21, 2024.  Thankfully, they were able to make it out of the house safely; however, their cats Pete and Marvin did not survive. Christine has been a teacher at Niles City Schools for over 30 years. Her husband, Jerry, is employed at Clark Dietrich in Warren, Ohio. Their daughter, Jacklyn (Ryan) Raketa, is a teacher at  South Range Middle School and teaches ELA. Their son, Jarrett Walters, is a musician and will be joining the Holland America cruise line to perform on the Rotterdam in October. My wish is to be sure that Jalen will forfill his dreams and complete college. I know I will not physically be at his college graduation, but it would mean everything to me, to know that he will have the financial stability to finish college. Jalen is my youngest son and has dreamed of being an Actor since he was 3 years old.

Out of thousands of applicants, the program accepts 16 acting/film majors, and 16 musical theater majors every year. This is considered a "lottery school" and Jalen has one of the spots. This is a dream come true for him. He has worked so hard to get to this point and I don't want to fail him but not being able to get him there.

<div>Jalen has received the program's largest scholarship possible. The Director of the Program believes in Jalen and asked the Board of Directors to extend the scholarship for both years. We need to come up with Room and Board which is $18,000 a year.

<div>I had filled out the FAFSA paperwork and had gotten approved for $11,000 so I thought I could make this happen somehow, between what I have socked away and my life insurance. However, I have just found out that FAFSA can not be applied to this program because it is a 2 year conservatory program. Any other option we have that does accept FAFSA, ends up much more expensive in addition to being a four year program instead of a 2 year program.

Tracey's Last Wish to fund Jalen's Education- HALF WAY THERE

<div>Erin is an 18-year-old high school graduate and college freshman who was hospitalized August 10 for a burst appendix. She had been ill since August 1 and was misdiagnosed by two different medical facilities, which worsened her condition to the point of developing peritonitis, a major and often fatal intestinal infection.

<div>So far, Erin has had three surgeries and one drainage procedure under general anesthesia along with six weeks of heavy antibiotics. Her recovery is going smoothly, but doctors said she will spend more weeks in the hospital and face a long recovery at home. She will also need another procedure to reverse a stoma in her abdomen in 3-6 months.

<div>A little about Erin - she is a super kind, intelligent, talented young woman who has big dreams to be a stage and screen actress. She was accepted into the Chicago College of Performing Arts at Roosevelt University for fall of 2023, and she plans to earn a BFA in musical theatre. She frequents her local community theaters, and was most recently seen in the ensemble of "Heathers." Out of all her roles, she most enjoyed playing Bebe in "A Chorus Line."

Journey 2 Broadway

<div>On 11/23, Ron suffered 4 strokes landing him in Englewood Hospital for 12 days. An MRI showed evidence of past chronic strokes, all of which we were unaware, and after many tests, an MRA (angiogram) showed severe stenosis &amp; vasculitis as the culprit. He has been impacted most severely by an impairment of speech, language, comprehension and cognition, otherwise known as Aphasia.

<div>After just 3 days in an acute rehab facility, Ron tested positive for COVID and was sent into isolation, which has been extremely debilitating for his progress. He has thankfully just been moved out of quarantine, however the facility and insurance company have decided that returning Ron home should be the next step in his recovery journey.

<div>We have obviously been completely overwhelmed and shocked by this life changing event but are grateful that he survived such devastating damage. We have been so touched by the outpouring support we have received from those of you who have asked "how can we help?"

<div>My brother Donny has been in the hospital fighting for his life with complications from Covid. He is in an induced coma and ventilated. He is self employed and has bills that need paid while he is in the hospital. He will be in the hospital for months and then will need to go to a long term care facility for rehab. We are praying he pulls through. If he wakes up he will have enough to worry about just trying to heal his body. We don’t want him to wake up and be stressed about bills that have accumulated while he was unaware. If you know Don, you know he would help anyone he could with no expectation of anything in return. He is the one that needs help now. All funds will be used to pay his bills and medical expenses. Every donation is appreciated, as are prayers. Thank you.

Help Don while he’s in the hospital

Chad is in dire need of financial assistance as he has put other people, especially his music students, in front of himself during a very difficult and financially debilitating year.   As any person involved with the Arts can attest that CoVid shut down Musicals and Live Performances in 2020.   Much of Chad’s income came from directing and accompanying these live performances.  Specifically, 5 planned Musicals and 4 concerts could not happen which caused significant income loss.  <br /><br />In addition, CoVid put a strain on school districts across the Nation.  Because of these organizational and financial issues within his school district, Chad has lost over $2000 a month in income.   In order to continue sharing his gift of teaching music to his students, he started a business which had substantial startup costs to do so.  This was the only way to maintain his employment status within the school district while serving the students who looked to him for voice and theater training.<br /><br />Chad has already significantly altered his living expenses but is behind on utilities…however the biggest need is to help him avoid Repossession of his car.  He has a court date of January 8th and he must come up with $5000 immediately.  <br /><br />Chad is not one to ask for help.  In fact, it took some time to convince him that there are people in his life that want to help him through this very difficult and humbling time.    Please consider contributing anything you can to help this wonderful instructor, coach and friend get out of a very stressful and scary time.<br /><br />If you have any questions, please reach out to me (Carla) or Jenn Bryson.  All donations will go directly to Chad.<br />Thank you for your support.  If you can not not donate, please consider sharing this link!

CHAD KENDALL NEEDS OUR HELP!

<p>Due to a recent post we made on Facebook (that kind of took on a life of its own!) we've been asked to set up a "virtual tip jar" for the kids that work at Mootown.  We have 16 teenage and young adult employees who work the front counter scooping ice cream and smiles this summer.  For several, this is their first job ever! Mootown Creamery Virtual Tip Jar

Due to the isolating nature of COVID-19, we as family members and friends cannot be with our loved ones in the hospital. Being able to FaceTime with my husband Brett Breslow as he battled this virus, has been a huge source of comfort for me and my children during this incredibly difficult time. I just learned that the ICU he is in only has 1 device for 30 beds. We need to adapt and stay in touch with our loved ones as best as we can, so I'd like to ask you to donate any amount towards the purchase of iPads for Cooper Hospital's ICU. Max gave the gift of life to six recipients through organ donation.  He was a gifted musician, a natural athlete, a loyal friend and the most loved brother and son. <br /><br />When Julie informed friends and family that "My Dear Max" had passed away, we thought what better way to remember him, but to start the "My Dear Max" Memorial.    There are 2 parts;<br /><br />First, this memorial fund is for his legacy of kindness and caring to live on to honor the devotion and admiration he had for his beloved brother, Jack.  We have worked with University of North Carolina Greensboro, where Jack is studying and this is the best way to handle the funds to go towards so that it is seamless for the family.   This fund will enable Max to be a part of Jack's future and to be present in everything Jack does forevermore by.  In a way, this fund enables Max to go to college with his big brother. (Surplus dollars can be used by the family to set up a scholarship in Max's name in the future).  All funds will be channeled through family account to UNCG). <br /><br />The second piece is for the rest of the family.   Upon donation, we are asking each person to write a "DEAR MAX" message.  Whether you know Max, or a family member, or know "how it feels", this will be a way for the family to remain connected to people who love Max, for years to come.   We urge you to continue to write ongoing Dear Max messages to the family  with memories, funny stories, and sentiments.  In the future, we ask that you check in with Julie in particular, with Dear Max messages that serve as updates on how you are doing because she loves each one of Max's friends as much as Max does.<br /><br />Thank you for being part of this special memorial.
