<div>Leaving did not set her free — it nearly broke her.

<div>When the marriage ended, her husband took everything inside the home and forced a $38,000 payment from her just so she could keep the mortgage — while she was unemployed and already traumatized. She was left in an empty house with PTSD, no income, and no safety net.

<div>She enrolled in community college to retrain and rebuild her life. She applied for workforce assistance — and was denied. Right now, she is trying to heal from abuse while studying, paying a mortgage, and surviving day to day.
