<div>Hello, I'm Jonathan. I have been struggling with CISPplus, a rare variant of CIDP, for the last few years. In August 2025, I was hospitalized as my condition relapsed. They took nerve and muscle biopsies but didn't do the promised allograft (cadaver replacement), resulting in Complex Regional Pain Syndrome.

<div>I will finally see a disability judge in late July, that process has taken nearly 3 years in which I lost what little I had. Until then, I have no income and come April I will be unable to afford where I live.

<div>My plan is to buy an inexpensive RV/Mobile home, something on wheels, something that can be moved, so that me and my 4 cats (who save my life everyday) will have a place to sleep. Oddly it would offer a sense of security that I haven't had in the last few years.

<div>If I get my disability in late July, my plan after that is to build a tiny house on a trailer so it can also be moved, and we will be able to have a roof over our heads.

<div>I will most likely need my every 3 week infusion for the rest of my life. I will have to continue seeing numerous specialists just to maintain my current health, which isn't in the best place right now.

Today, October 9th 2023, around 10:00 am, my mom passed away peacefully in her sleep due to the complications of cancer. We are devastated to lose her, but watching her suffer so horribly for so long we are happy that she’s at peace. She was our bestfriend and a great mother.

Funeral Costs and Burial Services for Our Mom

<p>The past couple months have been difficult for our brave Commander. When we first noticed him having difficulty peeing, we took him to the vet and they told us it was manageable diabetes. Now, six weeks later, we are dealing with painful, life-threatening bladder stones that are blocking his urinary tract, making him unable to pee, eat, and breathe easily. We've tried a couple remedies to avoid costly surgery, but the stones keep re-obstructing, causing a lot of stress for both cats and humans in the Rippe Desmond household.

<p>We took out a line of care credit for the emergency trips, and have almost maxed out our line of $2000. The surgeries now required, including a cystomy and perineal urethrostomy, are scheduled for today and will cost $800. We would like to at least be able to cover those costs so we can rest assured we can pay for it. Anything over that amount will help us pay for additional monitoring, fluids, food, and the medical debt accumulated over the past week.

My name is Edy Perez, this is my vehicle registered under my Mothers name. We have spoken to our insurance company, and they told us the policy we have doesn’t cover “vandalism”. 

As stated I never expected to reach the goal amount , this was just an open campaign for those who understood the situation and wanted to help.

Daniel Gregory that prefers to go by Dan was shot while trying to defend other protesters from getting shot by a gunman that drove into a crowd of protesters. Apparently as the car was driving into the crowd. Dan apparently ran towards the car and the gunman and got shot in the arm, when he defended the protesters and was taken to Harborview Medical center in stable condition. Okay, so let’s talk about my buddy Lucas.<br /><br />Lucas is currently 18 years old, and came to the United States as a refugee 11 years ago. He speaks 3 languages, and he started wearing flannel before he even knew it was cool. He's hardworking, smart, and what I’d call an artistic prodigy, though he’s so humble that I can practically hear him mumbling an objection as I type this. In addition to winning numerous academic and artistic awards, he has won the hearts of many adults in his life—high school teachers, friends’ parents, and working artists such as myself— all of whom are currently doing our best to help and protect him. See, Lucas is going through some seriously terrifying shit right now. He's in a predicament that no one should ever have to face, let alone someone his age. <br /><br />Lucas is a transgender boy from a family of intolerant religious extremists. And I’m not talking about we-will-disown-you-for-being-trans religious extremists, I’m talking about we-will-hunt-you-down-and-kill-you-for-being-trans religious extremists. That’s not an hyperbole: his dad has threatened to murder him on multiple occasions, and has openly bragged about assaulting a trans person.<br /><br />Despite what his birth certificate says, Lucas has known he's a boy since long before he learned the words to describe his gender. Actually, there were a lot of words that Lucas would've benefitted from knowing earlier on, but his parents kept him strictly uninformed when it came to sex and his own body. Having never been told about menstrual cycles, Lucas naturally assumed he was dying when he started his. In a panic he told his mom what was happening, and she drove him to a pharmacy for pads. "You’re a liability now," she said to him, by way of explanation. "You can break down this entire family.”<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/32871012_1536637259273312_r.jpeg" alt="32871012_1536637259273312_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />Regarding him as a girl, Lucas’s parents allowed him very few freedoms. He was never allowed to visit friends or attend social events. He was forbidden from riding a bicycle, lest it compromise the integrity of his hymen and disappoint his future husband. His mom once caught him DANCING to MUSIC (scandalous!) and doused him with holy water to free him of the evil that had so clearly possessed him.<br /><br />Lucas was in his early teens when he snuck into a GSA meeting at his high school and learned about gender dysphoria. He begin to slowly understand himself and then, perhaps more slowly, to accept himself. With the support of his friends and teachers, he changed his name and switched his pronouns. For the first time in his life, he could exist as himself… but only at school. At home he had to pretend to be a quiet, well-behaved girl. He lived this double life for most of his adolescence.<br /><br />The first time his dad threatened to murder him, Lucas was 12 years old. His parents had found out that he had started his own email account, and were furious at the idea of him having this unsupervised link to the outside world. His dad violently attacked him and held a kitchen knife to his throat while the rest of his family watched. That night he made his first attempt to run away, but once out of his house he realized he had nowhere to go. He hid in a Walgreens for a few hours until the police found him and delivered him back home (#serveandprotect), where his dad kicked the shit out of him and assured him that if he ever tried to run away again he would find him and put a bullet in his head. <br /><br />Lucas spent the next six years planning a more well-thought-out runaway scheme. “Next time,” he told himself, “I’ll bring underwear.”<br /><br />This past June Lucas graduated high school. Unbeknownst to his parents, he had been accepted into college with a hefty scholarship. He left a note telling his family that he was safe and wouldn't be returning, and then, immediately after receiving an art award at his high school’s graduation luncheon, he snuck off to a Dunkin' Donuts, where a mutual friend of ours picked him up.<br /><br />Runaway plan 2.0 had commenced, and Lucas had forgotten to pack underwear.<br /><br />He spent this past summer in hiding, sleeping on the couches and spare beds of friends. He spent several afternoons hanging out in my studio, where I got to see firsthand just how talented he is— seriously, this kid is the real thing. He started taking hormones, filed for a legal name change, and began seeing a therapist, who unsurprisingly diagnosed him with PTSD. Meanwhile his parents searched for him. They got the police on board by telling them that Lucas had disappeared without a trace (so much for that note) and was an imminent danger to himself. I advised him to call the police and tell them that he was 18 years old and knew where he was, and therefore couldn't possibly meet the qualifications of a missing person. I had the brilliant idea that we use a payphone to make this call so that it couldn't be traced. Lucas politely reminded me that it’s 2018 and payphones are extinct, but I was unfazed: “There’s gotta be at least one payphone left in this city.” We put on baseball hats and went out into the night in my pickup truck, like a couple of misfit kids on a mission in an eighties movie.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/32871012_1536637325546827_r.jpeg" alt="32871012_1536637325546827_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />  <br />We didn’t find a payphone. Lucas was right. Lucas is always right.<br /><br />Hey Lucas, remember that time you told me that the person I was quasi-dating was bad news, and I chose to ignore your advice on the grounds that you're a teenager and have no dating experience? Turns out you were right about that one, too.<br /> <br />ANYWAYS- the police stopped their search, but his parents haven’t. Several of us have encouraged him to file a restraining order, but that would require him being in the same courtroom as his father, an idea that justifiably terrifies him. Also, law enforcement doesn’t exactly have a great track record with trans people, people of color, or refugees. <br /><br />Lucas started college in a different state a few weeks ago, which means he’s further from his family, but also further from his support network. We had hoped this would be a fresh start for him, but unfortunately (VERY unfortunately) his inept high school guidance counselor told his parents what school he’s attending. They’ve already showed up looking for him, and though the college issued some sort of legal thing that bans them from school property, he worries that they’ll come back. While his peers ease into the fun new independence of college life, Lucas still lives in fear.<br /><br />So we, the adults in his life, offer Lucas what we can: odd jobs, rides, places to stay, advice, and money when we can. We offer him affirmation, respect, and autonomy– things he never experienced at home. We do what's within our means to get him ever so slightly closer to the safe and comfortable life that he deserves, but our means alone aren't enough. <br /><br />We're raising funds to give Lucas a college education. Though he earned his school's biggest scholarship, it doesn’t cover all four years of tuition. He'll need another 40k to get that sweet sweet diploma.<br /><br />Additionally, we're raising money to cover gender-affirming surgery (top surgery). Because, you know, men who don't want boobs shouldn't have to have boobs. Since Medicaid seems to disagree with this sentiment (new slogan idea: "Medicaid: boobs for everyone, whether you want them or not!"), Lucas is looking at an out-of-pocket cost of about $10k. <br /> <br />So just to recap: by the age of ten Lucas had been relocated without warning to a different country where he didn't know the language TWO TIMES. He was physically and emotionally abused by his father. He was forced to live as the wrong gender for years. He was basically kept on house arrest by parents who regarded him with the subtlety and grace of the mom in Stephen King's "Carrie." But instead of having a telekinetic breakdown, Lucas has continued to fight for his right to simply exist as himself.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/32871012_1536644226305272_r.jpeg" alt="32871012_1536644226305272_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br />So just think for a moment about what your life was like when you were 18, then try, if you can, to picture yourself in Lucas’s situation. <br /><br />Together we can make such a big difference for him. <br /><br /><br />If you wanna know more about Lucas, you can read <a href="https://www.etsy.com/listing/623998200/radical-visibility-zine-a-trans-teens?ref=shop_home_feat_3">this zine</a>  he wrote! Transgender Teen in Crisis

My name is Syd and I've been out as a transgender man for about eight years, living my daily life as a male. I have always been aware of my self-identity but didn’t feel comfortable or safe to truly start transitioning until my mid-twenties. After making it through the innumerable unique challenges of being a trans identified man, I was finally able to begin Hormone Replacement Therapy (HRT).  on June 30th, 2011, I gave myself my first shot of Testosterone (T).  Taking testosterone was a dream come true for me. I was ecstatic when the day finally came that I was fortunate and blessed enough to begin my medical transition, which began to accompany the mental and emotional transition that had been progressing for me over so many years. </p>
<p>Now the next step in my transition is a big one. A mastectomy, more commonly know in the Transgender community as “Top Surgery”. Which brings us here, today. This is a fundraiser for top surgery. Top surgery, is a medical procedure that, in my particular situation, will include bilateral mastectomy and male chest reconstruction.</p>
<p>On a personal level, deciding to create a crowd funding page was an extremely difficult decision (still is), and it doesn't come without some discomposure, particularly for a procedure that is so intimate. I feel conflicted to ask for help in this way and to display a vulnerability that feels far too exposing. And yet, over the past eight years, my life has unfolded to lead me into wonderful friendships and relationships with people who have endured similar experiences. It has also led me to work in a field where so many others seek to align their inner experiences with the people and the world around them, without shame. My dream is to be standing, arms wide, glowing in the light of the sun; Free and unbound.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/20413752_1494886406.4274_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />WHAT: <br />This page is dedicated to the pursuit of top surgery, which is a gender-confirming/affirming surgery. Top Surgery for Syd

I'm writing to you today in hopes you will begin praying for our daughter, Helena. She is scheduled to have brain surgery on Tuesday,  3.21.17 to remove a tumor.<br /><br />First let me tell you Helena is in no pain. Her spirits are her usually merry and happy self. She has been an absolute trooper through this entire process. For a kid who's never had anything other than the usual vaccines, she got the IV calmly and heroically.<br /><br />It began when I witnessed a seizure on Saturday, March 4th. Over that weekend, she had nearly 40 such seizures. This brought us to a pediatric neurologist. From our visits with him, watching videos of the seizures I had captured, and testing; he referred us to have immediate surgery. When options were put in front of us, we decided to come to CS Mott Children's Hospital at the University of Michigan.<br /><br />Mott's did some more tests and decided not to do emergency surgery because they wanted to get a better idea of what they were looking at, thinking that this is actually a more complex issue than initially thought. <br /><br />They are heartened however that she has been performing perfectly with all of the clinical neurological tests. Things like touch your finger to your nose, walk backwards, stand on one foot, etc. They did vision and hearing tests and she is perfect.<br /><br />There is a mass at the top of her brain more than likely between the two hemispheres. It is around a major vein supplying the brain. In God's Perfect Design there is redundancy in case something goes wrong with one part of your body. Unfortunately there is only one sinus vein supplying blood to a certain section of the brain. Depending on the placement of the tumor they might not be able to get it all at risk of compromising the only blood supply to a part of her brain. However they think that the majority of the tumor is in the first one third of this vein. The radiology department has said it looks as though her body has already started to create new pathways to compensate for the shutdown of certain sections of this sinus vein branch. This mass is what they think has been causing the seizures. <br /><br />Also of concern is a mass growing around a cluster of nerves that effect vision, in the absolute middle of Helena's brain. They see some other lesions in her brain, including one on each of the bundles of nerves for auditory functions. That's one on both sides. These cannot be removed through surgery.<br /><br />The diagnosis thus far is Neurofibromatosis type II. Once they see the mass, they can make better diagnosis. However pathology results (which takes weeks to return) will reveal the final type(s) of tumors.) NF 2 comprises of multiple types of tumors present at once, all of which are usually benign.<br /><br />The second MRI Helena had last night was a grueling 3.5 hour ordeal. As usual Helena was great and took it like a champ but for a few bumps in the road. That MRI was so that radiology could map out where all the lesions are. This will become a benchmark baseline for all the future MRI testing Helena will have every year until she is 18 or 25 (depending on puberty) at the minimum.<br /><br />She has been moved out of the primary care of Neurology and into the care of oncology. <br /><br />In preparation for surgery next week, Helena will be on a course of steroids to reduce the swelling in her brain and anticonvulsant medication (Keppra). She and I have developed a cough. We await test results to see if it's Influenza B. If so, we are prepared with a script of Tamaflu. <br /><br />The long-term after care will include close monitoring of tumor growth throughout her life. Because NF II is related to a possible genetic marker she will eventually have genetic testing, later down the road. Depending on the results of that testing, Christopher, myself, and Mike might be tested as well. She will continue to see a neologist and oncologist at Mott's for years to come. Even if just to prove she has been fully healed through the miracle we are all praying for and planning on.<br /><br />Short term care will involve protection of her skull while the bones grow back together. No activities involving things with wheels and no climbing any higher than her waist level. <br /><br />A portion of the tumor removed will be banked for future research projects. More of the tumor will be studied and will be DNA mapped.  Should she ever need radiation or chemotherapy to address the masses, they will have identified what would respond best based on the genetic makeup. We will also find out through that pathology if these tumors are hormone receptive. If they are not hormone receptive they are less likely to return at the onset of puberty.<br /><br />The actual surgery will be about 6 hours long. Post-op, if all goes well, she will spend one day in ICU and three days in recovery before going home. We were told to plan on a seven day stay just in case. <br /><br />Now as long as I have you in prayer mode please lift up in prayer another member of my family who has had a major health event, possibly from stress of this with Helena. If you already know who I'm talking leased, please don't be a bonehead and tag them on Facebook. <br /><br />I can tell you that the care here has been fantastic. They have people on staff to do nothing but play with the patient. There is an entire room for play, a room for older kids to play  a music, and a ton of arts and crafts. They have shown her through the dolls and videos how the surgery prep and post will go from her perspective. In a "God-incedent" (like a coincidence​, but better) Helena's American Heritage Girl troop had been to Flower Hospital for a field trip on the 4th. She got to see triage, imaging, surgery and an ambulance.  It might have helped assauge some fears.  Kit is fine and has been working on a Batman Lego project while at home.  Mike and I have been getting rest as we can. I should have listened when a co-worker reminded me to stay hydrated. After that MRI last night, a glass of water and a cup of bouillon never tasted so good.  We think we might have Helena return to school for Friday and Monday, to keep it normal and so Mom and Dad can return to work for a few days. We are thankful to God we live in modern times, close to a great hospital and have decent health care. <br /><br />Please note I am referring to it as the mass and NOT making it a mass owned by her. So don't call it "her tumor". <br /><br />Thank you for your continued prayers and working with us through these uncharted waters. Please pray for complete healing so our child can be a witness to others as to the power and miracles only Our Lord and Savior can provide. <br /><br />I will keep you updated as we go along.<br /><br />I love you Helena.

Helena's Family Fundraiser 

<p dir="ltr">My brother, Steven Phillips was the most amazing person I was ever blessed enough to know. I say he had the personality of 1000 men. He has such an infectious smile and brought so much joy to our lives. He had an impact on every person he ever met. He has changed or influenced change in many ways. Steven passed away suddenly on March 8th 2017. Nearly 3 months after losing our father. As many may know, Steven was battling problems with his heart. After two open heart surgeries, he went back to the hospital complaining of severe chest pain. The doctors then found that his second valve implant had been rejected by his heart yet again and the infection had returned . He needed a 3rd surgery. Steven was then transported to most qualified Heart center in Cleveland Ohio. It was then that we learned how bad his condition actually was. The infection had spread and his heart began to swell. It was hard for his heart to pump blood through his body. He was very ill. His blood pressure dropped and his heart was beating uncontrollably. He was being treated with many medications and they decided to try dialisys. This is when we learned the devastating news that my brother was not going to make it home. This was the saddest day of my life. Everything happened so quickly and this was so unexpected. Steven did not have any form of life insurance as he was only 31 years old. I thought he was invincible I thought he would be by my side forever. We come to you in our darkest hours and ask you all to help us lay his outstanding soul to rest. Every little bit counts, every prayer and every share. Thank you all in advance. RIH my dear sweet brother. You will be missed by so many. Until we meet again.

Hi! I'm Jefferson Nelson and I am curating an art show called "New American Color". The show is going to happen at my friend Jim Kookoothe's auto garage "Dean and Sons" located in Toledo, Ohio at 1611 Jefferson Ave. The show will open with a reception Friday, November 7th from 8pm-midnight. The show opens in the middle of the International Visual Literacy Association's annual conference that is being hosted by the Toledo Museum of Art from November 5th-8th. The conference brings with it artists, educators, curators, and arts professionals from around the world. Our show is a chance to present art being made in a unique, sincere fashion that reflects life in a specifically American way, while also being developed outside or in spite of primary art market places. Work that is autonomous and honest. Which brings me to the point; I/we could use a hand financially. The reasons for doing this show are not motivated by money. Having said that, I want everyone to see the show, and I want it to be presented as well as it possibly can.
