<div><strong>For over a decade, Valley Relics Museum has existed to preserve and celebrate the unique history of the San Fernando Valley.</strong> Our nonprofit museum houses thousands of irreplaceable Valley artifacts across two airplane hangars at Van Nuys Airport. Over the years, we have rescued several of the Valley’s iconic signs to ensure these important pieces of local history are not lost. Valley residents, businesses, and collectors have also donated items from their own collections to share with the community. Many of these artifacts were once part of everyday life. Our mission is to preserve these relics and showcase the history, culture, and spirit of the San Fernando Valley.

<div><strong>The COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact on Valley Relics Museum.</strong> Like many small businesses, nonprofits, and museums, we were forced to close our doors. All public events and programs were halted, resulting in a substantial loss of operating revenue. We were also unable to host the private events that provide crucial funding that help keep our museum open. Although we have worked hard to recover, the financial impact of the pandemic continues to affect us, particularly as the <strong>operating costs</strong> of running a museum at this scale have risen dramatically.

<div>On Thursday morning, two fathers from families living together, and that had recently moved from Encinitas to San Marcos, were abducted on their way to work. It happened the same day the oldest child even received Student of the Year at his elementary school graduation in Encinitas. The fathers are the household breadwinners; <strong>their sudden disappearance has left two sisters living together with six children (ages 4–11) in shock and desperate need.</strong>

<div>One of the moms, whom I met through my work with a grassroots community group helping our most vulnerable neighbors, is pregnant and was due Friday the 12th — <strong>she needs immediate support for herself and the newborn.</strong> Between medical needs, baby supplies, food, housing, utilities, and basic daily care for six young kids, this household is facing an unimaginable crisis.

The Longest Day participants fight the darkness of Alzheimer's and all other dementia through a fundraising activity of their choice on a day that works for them. And today is the day for our family. <strong>We seek to raise $2000 by 6/20/24 to support The Longest Day. </strong>

<div>In January of 2024, Tracy went in for her first routine mammogram. An unusual finding led to an ultrasound, biopsy and eventually a triple negative breast cancer diagnosis. Although Tracy’s two masses are small, triple negative is the most aggressive, fastest growing form of breast cancer. She will be starting a six month chemotherapy journey as soon as possible and taking a leave of absence from work for the majority of this year. Here’s where we come in! If you know Tracy, you love Tracy. She is an incredible mom of 3 boys, wife, friend, employee... the list goes on! She is the most fun, most giving, supportive champion of people around her and now we get to do the same for her. <div>It’s with such sadness and tragedy that I share the news of a young boy, only 12 years old, who took his own life. His name was Alex Gruetzmacher. He passed away on December 16th. Alex was an incredibly gifted young boy who had so many dreams and aspirations, but with such tragedy, his life was taken too soon.

<div>Alex was a 7th grader at South Park Middle School in Oshkosh, WI. School was very tough for him because he was different than his fellow students; he had autism. However, Alex didn’t let adversity get in the way. He had good grades in school, loved playing board games, baking cookies, playing video games with his friends, collecting Pokémon cards, drawing/sketching, painting, and most of all spending time with his 4 siblings— Aspen, Hudson, Ava, and Jade. He was the oldest of 5.

<div>Losing a child is one of the greatest heartbreaks any person can go through. Between the pressure of individual grief, medical expenses &amp; the countless challenges associated their loss.

<li><span>Lisa Russell was a Post-Bar Law Clerk with the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office, who was assigned to the Major Crimes Division. Six years ago, before she started law school, Lisa was diagnosed with breast cancer which at the time had spread to her lymph nodes. Her prognosis was tenuous, but she was a fighter and after undergoing a double mastectomy, chemotherapy and radiation, she managed to beat the disease. Last year, even though she was not supposed to be able to have children, she miraculously became pregnant and gave birth to the love of her life, her 1-year-old son, Constantine. This month before her diagnosis, after passing the bar, Lisa took her oath as a licensed attorney and found herself one step closer to her long-term dream of becoming a Los Angeles County Deputy District Attorney. </span><br />
</li>
</ul><br />Unfortunately, after having what she thought was an orthopedic issue with her knee, Lisa received the devastating news that her cancer has returned full force. The cancer was now Stage 4, having metastasize  to her bones, pelvis, lungs and liver. Despite this an absolutely devastating diagnosis, Lisa met that latest challenge with the same grace and positivity that is a hallmark of her personality. She continued to work full-time as she battled this formidable disease.<br /><br />Lisa HMO was extremely slow in responding to her illness and for six weeks after her diagnosis received no actual treatment while awaiting authorization from her HMO to obtain a second opinion from City of Hope, the leading cancer treatment center in the area. It was our expectation that City of Hope would have more experienced oncologists who had better access to the latest clinical studies and experimental therapies to treat her disease. That being said, the delay in treatment was extremely concerning and Lisa ended up deciding to pay out of pocket for an evaluation at City of Hope rather than have the disease progress any further as she awaited an authorization that may have never come.<br /><br />Lisa was originally extremely resistant to the idea of allowing this GoFundMe to be formed. However, after experiencing tremendous pain and difficulty breathing while working at the office awaiting the initiation of treatment she was directed to the emergency room over concerns that she might be suffering a pulmonary embolism, a life threatening condition. Although that ended up not being the case, Lisa remained very weak, having difficulty breathing and needing to begin her treatment immediately. For these reasons, she finally relented and allowed us to start this fundraising page.<br /><br />Lisa's prognosis and medical expenses were extremely concerning from the start and it was our desire to raise enough money so that she could receive treatment from whatever institution had the most experience and showed the most promise in dealing with her specific disease.<br /><br />The help you all gave to Lisa and extended her life and provided a sense of relief for Lisa and her family. It was greatly appreciated and allowed her more precious time with baby Constantine. <br /><br />Now that she has passed it is our hope to provide Constantine with a trust fund that will help with his care and future educational expenses.  <br />
