Today I met a couple named Eduardo and his wife at Walmart. I asked them if they dropped their wallet and immediately they said no and were honest. Even though they didn’t know me, and even though they’re carrying more than most people ever should, they still chose to be honest. To reward their honesty, I gave them $500. They were so shocked and began to tear up as they shared their story. Eduardo is a father who already endured the unimaginable—losing his son to cancer. Now, as the sole provider for his family, he’s battling stage 4 pancreatic cancer himself. His wife is standing by his side through it all. He can’t work, the bills are piling up, and they’re on the verge of being evicted and losing their home. They’re doing everything they can to hold things together, but it’s overwhelming. Even with all the weight they’re carrying, they still chose kindness. In a moment where they could have said yes, they stepped in to help. A couple like Eduardo and his wife, who continue to show up for others in the middle of this kind of pain, shouldn’t have to go through this alone. Let’s rally around them and help keep their family off the streets so they can have some peace and stability in this season. Do your thing, internet ❤️
Today I met an 81-year-old man named Gary at Walmart. I asked him if he could help me buy baby food. He didn’t know me, and even though he’s behind on his house payment and worried about losing his home, he still said yes. Afterward, I gave him $500 to thank him for his kindness. He was shocked and started to tear up as he told me his story. Gary is 81 years old and a Vietnam veteran who has already given so much in his life. Right now, he’s going through a really hard season. He’s behind on his mortgage and afraid he might lose the home he’s lived in for years. He’s also battling skin cancer. On top of that, someone recently broke into his car and stole many of his belongings, including his phone. He’s doing everything he can to stay afloat, but it’s been overwhelming and his wife just got laid off from her job. And even with all of that, he still chose to help a stranger. Someone like Gary shouldn’t have to go through this alone. Let’s come together and help him stay in his home, fight cancer, and find some peace in this season of his life. Do your thing, internet ❤️
Today I met a single mom named Peaches at Walmart. I asked her if she had dropped a diamond ring. Even though she could have really used it, she told me the truth that it wasn’t hers. So I gave her $1,000. She immediately broke down in tears and shared her story. Peaches and her two sons are facing homelessness after their home burned down, and their father passed away. She has no car, no money for groceries, and is doing everything she can to hold her family together. And still she chose honesty. A mom fighting this hard for her kids shouldn’t have to do it alone. Let’s rally around Peaches and help her get a home and a car so her family can have a safe place to live and a real chance to rebuild. Do your thing, internet ❤️
Today I met a grandpa named Herman at Walmart. I asked him if he could help me get some baby food and if he had just $1 dollar. Without hesitation, he said, “I got you,” and instead of just giving me a dollar, he bought the whole item for me. To reward his kindness, I surprised him with $500 dollars outside… He immediately broke down in tears. Herman shared with me that the woman he had been with for the last 9 years had just passed away. In the midst of that he also found out he has stage 4 cancer. Herman has nowhere to call home and temporarily living at a friend’s place. He told me he really needed this and was pretty behind on bills. Herman spent 12 years in prison before he was exonerated for a crime he did not commit and has since gone around the country speaking on judicial reform. He then shared his dream with me. He said his dream is to just have a place to live and have his health so he can be there for his grandson, his only joy in life. That moment absolutely broke me. Even with everything Herman is going through, he still chose to help a complete stranger. In a moment where he didn’t have to give anything, he gave anyway. A grandfather walking through this much pain should not have to do it alone. Let’s help Herman get a home so he can have the stability, peace, and more time with his grandson that he deserves.
Today I met a single mom and grandma named Amanda in Walmart. I asked her if she had dropped $100, and she was honest and told me no even though she really could have used it. To reward her honesty, I gave her $1500. She immediately broke down in tears. Amanda shared with me that she is only a month away from homelessness. She has no car, no money for groceries, and is doing everything she can to care for her children and grandchildren. Her son Cody was with her, and through tears he shared that he’s been bullied at school, but still said that God has been good to him. That moment absolutely broke me. Even with all the weight Amanda is carrying, she still chose honesty. In a moment where she could have taken the money, she told the truth. A single mom and grandma fighting this hard for her family should not have to carry this alone. Let’s rally around Amanda and help her get a home so she and her precious family can have a safe, stable place to stay. Do your thing, internet ❤️
Today I met a single mom named Sierra who was working at Family Dollar. I asked her to help me wrap a gift, and even while she was working, she took the time to stop and help me because she saw I needed it. Little did she know the gift was actually for her and there was $1,000 dollars inside. She immediately broke down in tears. Sierra shared with me that she makes $10 an hour and is trying her best just to survive. Recently she and her child were homeless, living in her mom’s car. Her child was actually standing right behind her at work when she told me this. To make things even harder, she was recently scammed out of the last $3,000 she had while trying to buy a car so she could rebuild her life in a new city. Even with everything she’s going through, she was still kind to a stranger. A mom trying this hard shouldn’t have to carry this alone. Let’s rally around Sierra and help her get a safe place to live and a reliable car so she and her child can finally have stability. Do your thing, internet. ❤️
Today I met a beautiful family in Walmart, Danny & Kassie (Katherine). I approached Danny with my wallet and asked if it was his as an honesty test. Without hesitation, he told the truth that it wasn’t his. To honor his integrity, I gave Danny $1,000, and he began to weep. That’s when I heard their heartbreaking story. Danny is battling terminal brain cancer. The medical bills have piled up as they were denied medical assistance, the pressure is overwhelming, and their family is now facing the terrifying reality of becoming homeless because of this diagnosis. They’re trying to hold their family together while walking through unimaginable pain and uncertainty. And yet, even carrying that weight, Danny still chose honesty. This family shouldn’t have to fight this battle alone. Let’s come together to help cover their medical costs and give them a safe home where they don’t have to live in fear of eviction. If this story moves you, please give and share. Let’s remind them there’s still hope. ❤️
