My name is Gray Galicz and I am one of the current students in the Team Academy. We need your help to raise money for future backpacking trips!

What is Team:

The Team Academy is a one of a kind public school alternative, outdoor education program. It runs out of Archie Williams High School. It is an experiential learning model that combines the following: Backpacking, hiking, community service, internships, rock climbing, wilderness medicine, and academic courses in a cohort model environment. It is the ONLY public school program of its kind.

Friends of the Team Program is a non-profit that helps support Team so we can keep backpacking year after year. This year we DOUBLED in size and we need your help to keep Teamies backpacking for years to come.

Team has meant to me as a community/ big family that support each other on every turn, it means that it is a safe haven to be yourself and do what you love. It has helped me to find happiness in my lows, and has helped me come of the dark place I was in to become who I was before.

I’m raising money for senior year trips and to help all future Team classes keep backpacking.

Our school district does not pay for any of our trips. We must fundraise for all gear, wilderness guides, transportation, permits and more! We couldn’t do this without your support. We hope to keep Team alive for decades to come and can only do it with your support. KEEP TEAMIES BACKPACKING and help us to continue to grow and gain infinite wisdom from the wild! My name is Sydney Milstead, and I’m a senior. This is my second year in the Team program. Since the beginning of junior year, I’ve traveled from the peaks of the Sierras to the valleys of Joshua Tree. Through this program, I’ve had the privilege of meeting lifelong friends and mentors who have had a lasting impact on me. The Team program has opened doors to opportunities and connections I never would have had otherwise.

Some of my most memorable moments have been captured on my camcorder, which I’ve learned to take with me everywhere I go. Every bit of support helps provide my peers and me with experiences unlike any other. Thank you for being part of this incredible journey.

Team has helped me to connect with nature and incredible friends in a way that I never have before, and I wish every teen in America had the opportunity to be a part of it. Its made my world a much better place.

To me, Team has been a very welcoming and supportive community. It is why I came to Archie Williams instead of Tam High. It has helped me to learn how to enjoy coming to school and help me continue to connect with nature and my friends. I have formed close bonds with the kids on Team and I’m so excited to go on my very first backpacking trip with them. I’m raising money so that I can go to Joshua tree this year, for the senior trips next year and to keep Team running so that all the future classes of Team can continue to backpack.

Hi! Im Quinn Black and I’m a senior in high school and I can guarantee that I’ve had one of the best high school experiences. Team is a unique program I get to be a part of that takes us on backpacking trips all over California and teaches us English, wilderness medicine, leadership skills, but most importantly community. To help keep us going it’s important that we maintain funds through donations. The money from this GoFundMe will go towards food for backpacking trips, hiring leaders for trips, new gear, and more.

Hi! My name is Annabelle, and I am a junior at Archie Williams high school. I am extremely lucky to be a part of TEAM, a unique high school program that integrates regular high school classes with backpacking trips, wilderness medicine education, and service work. This is a one of a kind program, and isn’t present in any other high school in the US. TEAM is a free program for students, and is a nonprofit. Because on this, the programs existence relies on our personal abilities to successfully fundraise enough money to support our backpacking trips. The money we raise goes toward food for our trips, transportation, and paying our trip leaders. Every donation, whether be big or small is helpful.
