American Foundation for Suicide Prevention

We're a group of friends who grew up together in Rochester, Minnesota. On November 8-9, 2025, we'll be at the Madison Marathon, Half-Marathon, and 10K to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention.

All of us running this race have lost a friend to suicide, and we are running to remember them and to help stop suicide from happening again. Many of us also haven't seen each other in years, and we look forward to reuniting again to support an important cause. Hi everyone,

This year, I’m lacing up my shoes and pushing my limits not just for the finish line but for a cause that means the world to me.

I’m running a marathon in support of mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and I need your help.

This isn't just another race. This is about the battles we can’t always see. The silent struggles so many face every single day. It's for those who are still fighting. It's for those who feel alone. It's for those we've lost too soon.

Depression is something that affects us all, directly or indirectly. It doesn’t discriminate. And yet, stigma still lingers. People still suffer in silence. Too many lives are lost because support comes too late or not at all.

For me, this cause is deeply personal. I’ve seen firsthand how devastating and isolating depression and thoughts of self harm can be. I’ve watched people I care about struggle, and I know how important it is that we do more. Listen more. Support more. Fight harder for change.

So I’m turning every mile into meaning. Every step I take in this marathon is for someone who’s hurting, for someone who’s healing, and for a future where nobody feels they have to suffer alone.

Your donation, big or small, will go directly to American Foundation for Suicide Prevention, helping fund mental health programs, crisis support lines, therapy resources, and suicide prevention initiatives. It could be the difference between someone finding hope or falling through the cracks.

The Cranesong Project is a suicide prevention awareness project through the the legend of the 1000 paper cranes and the wish to spread love to those who need it most. The current goal is for me to fold the 1000 paper cranes before summer 2025 comes to a close, while raising money for the American Foundation of Suicide Prevention. Hi, Meet our team of CRE professionals coming together to run 200 miles in the White Mountains in NH over 36 hours on Sept 12-13th living in 2 vans and completing this massive feat as a team! This year we wanted to add meaning to the challenge and have decided to raise funds for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP). In the United States, suicide is the second leading cause of death for individuals aged 25-34. Taking mental health seriously felt meaningful to each of us in a unique way.

AFSP is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Their work fosters a culture that is smarter about mental health, which is more important now than ever. Together, we can make a real difference in our communities, providing vital support and resources to those in need.

Hi, I'm Kyle and some of you may may know me as Blade_BossEDC. I've expiernced death by suicide first hand. 15 years ago this year (2025) my brother decided to take his own life, thinking it was a better option than reaching out and saying he needed help. I understand this to a certain extent. I know what it's like not to feel like life is worth living anymore. I myself struggled with addiction and mental health issues for alot of my own life. Thankfully I was never able to fully achieve suicide.

Since my brother took his life I've had a very strong respect for life and how precious it truly is. I've been able to maintain 9 consistent years of sobriety and mental health stability as I continue to grow.

In honor of my brother Ryan AND the 15th year anniversary of his decision I hope and pray we together can raise 2,000$ to donate to the AFSP.

I fully support them and their mission. I also plan on doing the out of the darkness suicide prevention and awareness walk here in Chicago in 2025.

I'm also growing my hair to donate it to locks of love on June 30th 2025 because my brother loved to have long hair, and I myself have never actually grown it out.

I hope we can achieve this goal together and that I can help bring a little bit awareness to mental health and suicide prevention.

This is just a modest, individual fundraiser during the month of May – Mental Health Awareness Month. I (Taylor) will be running 49 miles during the month to honor the 49,000+ deaths by suicide in 2023, as reported by the CDC (the latest available data). All funds raised will go directly to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP), a leading nonprofit for this effort.

This is the second year for this fundraiser, which raised $282 toward the cause in 2024.

Since January, the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) suffered staffing/funding cuts before being disbanded, the LGBTQ+ youth suicide hotline was removed from the federal budget in a recent proposal, and threats to Medicaid funding continue. Mental health services and resources are in dire need of support during unprecedentedly uncertain times.

Please consider a donation to the cause. The goal posted is entirely arbitrary. Keep in mind that GoFundMe will take 2.9% + $0.30 (per donation) of all donations. If you’d rather contribute through a channel other than this GoFundMe to avoid the fee, my Venmo is @trlehman23, and I’ll send a receipt to each Venmo donor at the end of the month, to prove your donation made it to AFSP.

Hi! For those of you who don't know me, I am Lucas Livermon. I am a professional cyclist living in Cary, NC.

May is Bike month and it is also Mental Health Awareness month. Every 43 seconds someone dies by suicide. My goal is to ride for at least 43 hours, over 7 days, to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Mental health and suicide are issues that I have struggled with for a large portion of my life. My hope is not only to raise money for a great organization but also to hopefully start some conversations and bring more awareness to mental health. All donations go directly to the non-profit.
