One year ago today, on 25 October 2024, I lost my dad to suicide. My dad was always someone I looked up to and the choice he made affects my family and I every single day. I always think about why he made this choice and what I could have done to prevent it. I would like to help provide resources to those considering committing suicide as well as providing resources to those affected by it. I am looking to raise money for the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and am vowing to ruck 1 mile for every $10 raised in the month of November. This organization is dedicated to saving lives and bringing hope to those affected by suicide. Together, we can create a community that understands mental health and actively works toward prevention.

This year, I’m lacing up my shoes and pushing my limits not just for the finish line but for a cause that means the world to me.

I’m running a marathon in support of mental health awareness and suicide prevention, and I need your help.

This isn't just another race. This is about the battles we can’t always see. The silent struggles so many face every single day. It's for those who are still fighting. It's for those who feel alone. It's for those we've lost too soon.

Depression is something that affects us all, directly or indirectly. It doesn’t discriminate. And yet, stigma still lingers. People still suffer in silence. Too many lives are lost because support comes too late or not at all.

For me, this cause is deeply personal. I’ve seen firsthand how devastating and isolating depression and thoughts of self harm can be. I’ve watched people I care about struggle, and I know how important it is that we do more. Listen more. Support more. Fight harder for change.

So I’m turning every mile into meaning. Every step I take in this marathon is for someone who’s hurting, for someone who’s healing, and for a future where nobody feels they have to suffer alone.

My name is Kamryn Stocker.
