<strong>Beauty is an 8 year old Pit Bull Mix </strong>who was abused and neglected by her former owner. The former owner is now being prosecuted on felony charges by the Onondaga County District Attorney's Office. The Volunteer Advocate Lawyer for Animal Abuse Court (VALAC) Program, a part of the Onondaga County Bar Association, took ownership of beauty last week because she was at risk of being euthanized. She is now sheltered by our friends at the Fairmount Animal Hospital where she is receiving excellent, loving care. She will remain at Fairmount until she can be nursed back to health and adopted. Beauty is still underweight, however, and has severe urinary track issues. It's yet to be determined why Beauty is unable to gain weight, despite eating four times a day! She has an ultrasound scheduled on Saturday and will be evaluated by an Internist in order to help diagnose her weight and urinary track issues. Beauty is a sweet dog who finally has a second chance for a new, happy and safe life. The VALAC Program is sponsoring Beauty's shelter and medical costs. Please help this beautiful dog as she travels a path toward regaining her health and finding her forever home. Hi everyone, We’re raising money for an emergency surgery for Moose. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/65323613_165270635820002_r.jpg" alt="Image" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />Those who know our family know that after 5 years of neglect and abuse with his previous owner, we adopted Moose in the fall of 2019. The big handsome boy was an emotional wreck, and we spent a lot of time and energy loving him back to life. Like most pets do, he has become a part of our family. His quirks delight us and drive us nuts. He washes his paws in the drinking bowl, chases his tail when he’s nervous, brings us a baby when we arrive at home, and nibbles our elbows when he’s feeling loving. He’s such a good boy and he’s OUR boy. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/65323613_1652706358229558_r.jpg" alt="Image" width="100%" media_type="3" /><br /><br />Two nights ago, our kiddo noticed some strange behavior, and thanks to their keen sense of something being off and acting fast, we were able to determine that he had a life threatening condition called Bloat, where the dog’s stomach for some unknown reason, twists and restricts food/water movement and blood flow. His abdomen was larger than his rib cage and he was in distress. The local emergency vet was booked for 6 hours so we were instructed to rush him to Cornell, the most prestigious animal hospital in the country, which happens to be just an hour away. 

The doctors quickly determined that he did indeed have bloat, and moved forward with the necessary surgery to untwist and pin the stomach to prevent this from happening again. (Once a stomach twists, it tends to reoccur.) Unfortunately, one of the side effects of bloat is that sometimes bits of organs die from lack of blood flow, and Moose is being held at Cornell for a few days to be monitored because part of his organs suffered a detrimental lack of blood flow. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/65323613_1652706357694164_r.jpg" alt="Image" width="100%" media_type="3" /><font color="#333333"><br /><br /></font>Although Moose is on the mend, the monetary cost is more than we can handle at the moment so we are asking for help. The estimated cost for his surgery and stay is $5,000. <div>My name is Zach, and I’m reaching out for help as I face a difficult battles after trying to protect a dog in need. Sativa, a twice-rescued German Shepherd, lives with a neighbor who keeps her locked in despair all day. I’ve witnessed her being choked by her collar from a second-story apartment, dragged down the stairs, and only allowed outside now once a day. She’s underweight, never allowed to play or socialize, and is constantly yelled at. Sativa is clearly afraid of her  current owner, and it breaks my heart to see her suffer like this.

<div>When I tried to help Sativa, her current abusive owner became hostile by my intervening. Now, with my total evidence its saving time. Legal fees, retainer costs, and the need for expert witnesses and digital forensics needed to prove what’s happening. There are also court administration costs, subpoenas, transcripts, and discovery expenses that I can’t cover alone. This situation has been overwhelming, but I know it's the right thing to do,. I'm all on my own, no authorities seem to care, as a last resort I had to take it to the news.
