<div>Our brother Robert Miller, 39, of Gaithersburg, MD passed away peacefully surrounded by family and loved ones on December 22nd, 2024.

<div>After a hospital visit in mid-November for what he thought was a stomach bug, Robby was diagnosed with Stage 4 pancreatic cancer which metastasized to his liver, and abdomen. During this time, doctors also found several blood clots in Rob’s body. After receiving the diagnosis, Robert was sad and discouraged. Rob became closer to Jesus when he opened his heart and mind to re-accept him. He was determined to keep his faith in God. Rob always said he was going to fight hard with the support of loved ones and the strength of his Lord and Savior! Over the course of the next month, Rob continued to fight hard, while remaining positive as he received chemo treatment, and underwent many procedures in the hospital. After being in and out of the hospital, Rob came home for almost a week before his final hospital stay. We are forever grateful for this time with our brother. While in the hospital, Robby’s organs began to fail and we knew it was time for God to call him home.

<div>Robert’s purpose in life was to be kind and funny. He treated everyone with care and always tried to make people laugh. Most importantly, he was the greatest Uncle to Declan, Hailey, and Harper. Everyone who knew him, knows that he loves those kids immensely. Rob was also a wonderful son, brother, friend, nephew, grandson, co-worker, and much more to a lot of people. Rob was literally the type of person to help anyone when they needed it.

After going home and beginning recovery, they have hit a major set back having to take Sammy back to the hospital in Phoenix with fluid on his lungs and the looming reality of another heart surgery to come in the next weeks, months or year.

<div>On September 19th, 2022, Julie and Ian discovered they were pregnant with their second child. What started with excitement soon turned to trepidation when they learned their child had cystic hygroma. This led to a series of meetings with fetal medicine specialists. The doctors diagnosed the baby with Trisomy-21 (Down's Syndrome) and an AV Canal, meaning there is a hole in the middle of the baby's heart that will eventually need to be repaired. They are expecting that the baby will be delivered early, will spend at least two weeks in the NICU, and need heart surgery four to six months after birth. Between the medical expenses and the need for Julie to be out of work to care for the baby, they are expecting a major financial hit. You can read the whole story and get regular updates here:

<div>On the evening of May 16, 2023 at 5:31pm I happened to glance out my window while on a phone call and noticed out of the corner of my eye that Jose (Mingo) and his helper Joel had arrived in my yard to do a project.

<div>Jose had done many things for us from planting, digging a pit to install an inground trampoline, and general landscaping maintenance. As he worked on these projects our family got to know Jose and enjoyed talking to him when he arrived. My kids knew he made their dream of the trampoline happen and I was in awe of how he took any project that seemed overwhelming and tackled it with ease. I also started talking with him and got to know him little by little. I knew he was looking forward to leaving on Thursday, May 18th to go see his ailing mother in El Salvador and spend some much-needed time with her and other family there. He was so dedicated to the work he did though, that he insisted he wanted to get this last little project done before he left for the 2-week trip.
</div>
<div>When I made that glance out that window I realized something was wrong. Jose was laying down on the mulch bed. I ran out the door down to him while dialing 911. Joel was shaking Jose and trying to wake him. I started CPR and prayed that the ambulances would come quickly, and they did. The crew of EMT's and Police first responders worked tirelessly for over 30 minutes to try to resuscitate Jose before transporting him to the hospital while still performing CPR. Despite all the efforts, Jose was gone.

<div>Jose (Mingo) leaves behind a wife, twin daughters and a son, as well numerous close family members. It is a funny thing that in the wake of Jose's death I'm learning so much more about this man who so reliably took care of so many things for our family. I already knew how dedicated and hard-working he was. I also knew he was funny and gentle. The way he always had a smile on his face and joked around with my kids. I watched this man love on my two dogs that got so excited whenever he came, I knew he was a good man.
</div>
<div>However, in the last 12-15 hours after his death, I am learning just how amazing this man was despite so much adversity in his life. The reason why Jose worked his full-time job and then additional jobs in the evenings and over weekends was because his family depended on him. One of Jose's twin daughters at the age of 16, had a catastrophic stroke. Jose and his wife have cared for her and provided a loving and healing home for her for the past 14 years. Jose worked tirelessly to ensure all of his daughter's ongoing medical needs were taken care of. He also worked to ensure his mother had the care she needed back in El Salvador.
</div>
<div>I ask you to help take up where Jose has left off. Help ease the tremendous financial burden facing this family as they grieve the loss of this very special man, who put everyone before himself.
</div>

This is my friend Bill.  He is a kind and a caring friend. He loves Door Dash because he enjoys making people happy. He has been working hard to save money to buy an Ethiopian food truck to serve the community he loves. <br /><br />On Sunday, 6/28/20, Bill was working his usual Door Dash orders. He went to pick up an order for the 3rd time at Red Robin in Bend, Oregon, that day. He walked into the restaurant and grabbed the Door Dash order. He knows the protocol for picking up orders for that restaurant and the employees are familiar with him. As he walked towards the exit with the food, a patron sitting at the restaurant's bar shouts, “you’re stealing the food” and the man decides to follow Bill to his car, harass him, threaten him, and kick a dent in his car all because he THOUGHT Bill was stealing the Door Dash order. <br /><br />The restaurant called the police but the suspect left the scene before the police arrived. He called me hysterically out of breath and shared that he had been falsely accused, harassed, and assaulted with derogatory names including the N word. The man also kicked a dent in Bill's car, and threatened to call the police to kill him.<br /><br />No person including Bill should have to experience such a traumatizing incident. I can’t even imagine how he can continue to do his job after he has been traumatized by a stranger who created a false criminal narrative about the black Door Dash driver wearing a hoodie. <br /><br />Thankfully the suspect has been identified. We hope this email finds you and your families safe and healthy. <br /><br />This site is devoted to the Chalk family who has faced an unimaginable loss and we are hoping to band together to help them.  The <strong>Chalk's grandfather</strong> was battling cancer<strong>, </strong>had been exposed to Covid-19<strong>, </strong>and <strong>died three weeks ago</strong>.<strong>  Within 2 weeks their grandmother</strong> lost her fight with <strong>Covid-19</strong>.  It is with great sadness that we share that their <strong>father, John, also passed away on May 1st</strong>, in the Chalk family home from <strong>Covid-19</strong>.  With Laurie, his wife, also testing positive for the virus, the family urgently needs our support. <br /><br />We are asking you to please consider joining us in supporting Laurie (Zaccagnino), John Jr., Alyssa, Daniel, and Courtney.  We began with the goal to help the family get through the first few weeks.
