<div>
 Hi there and thank you for reading!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 My name is Amanda and this fund is for my friend, Samantha Seeley- a mother of two young children, a daughter, sister, niece, aunt, cousin, and friend from the small town of Black Creek on Vancouver Island. Sam is the kind of woman you can trust with anything. She is the kind of woman you can always count on, whether you need a helping hand, a listening ear, or a piece of thoughtful advice. She is bright, kind, determined, and incredibly strong. She is an incredible mother to her children and an advocate for them and for those in need around her. She does so much for so many and today she needs our help.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In May, Sam noticed some physical changes and went in for testing and was quickly diagnosed with two different types of breast cancer over multiple sites. Her cancer is HER2+, which means it is more aggressive and fast growing. Currently, her cancer is stage 2 and does not appear to have metastasized. However, with the HER2 protein presence, immediate and focused treatment is critical.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 At the beginning of August, Sam started treatment, which includes 5 months of chemotherapy and immunotherapy followed by at least one surgery. She will continue the immunotherapy for at least a year, which may be paired with radiation depending on how the cancer responds to the current treatment.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Due to the rigorous nature of the treatment and all the appointments and travel that go with it, continuing to work will be difficult to impossible for Sam. The company she has worked with over the last four years has been incredibly supportive of her so taking medical leave has been a difficult choice, though a necessary one. Outside of work, Sam has raised her children, both of which have additional support needs. She has also, largely independently, tended to her farm daily. To balance the needs of her children Sam has only been able to work part-time for the past 4 years. In Canada medical Employment Insurance (EI) replaces only a portion of a person’s previous earnings. While EI will offer some financial support for six months, during and after this she will need assurance that both her family and farm will be kept safe.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In BC, only three out of the four drugs prescribed to Sam by her oncologist are covered through MSP. The fourth drug, Pertuzamab (Perjeta), is not covered unless the cancer is metastatic. However, HER2+ cancers carry a higher-than-average risk of spreading and therefore should be treated as soon as possible in order to give her the best chance of full recovery.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Perjeta alone, while effective, is very expensive and requires a course of six infusions. With the initial (“loading”) dose costing $9,000 and subsequent doses costing $4,500, the total comes to $31,500. Fortunately, Sam was approved for 60% coverage of these costs by the pharmaceutical company Roche, as she met their financial requirements. However, this still leaves her to pay the remaining $12,600.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 While Sam’s uncovered medication costs $12,600 alone, our goal is to raise enough to help offset those costs while also easing the financial burden of lost income, travel, childcare, and farm expenses throughout her treatment and recovery.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Samantha, her children, her mum Anna, and immediate family are incredibly grateful to her circle of family, friends, and community who have stepped in to help with all the physical chores, childcare, meals, appointments, and other day-to-day responsibilities along with all the details of life in the last 2 months.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Helping to cover the cost of the coming months and the much needed medications would be an immeasurable gift. We want to reach out and show Sam that she is seen, loved, and that her life matters. We also want her to know that her children are seen, loved, and supported. Thank you for your help, be it financial aid if you are able, prayer, or sharing this page. Every moment we are reminded we are in this life together is a gift.

Help Sam in her fight against HER2-positive breast cancer

<div>Previous posts:
</div>
<div>Thank you for praying and for spreading the word about Brian. Your words of encouragement have been such a gift to our family and team, and we have been deeply blessed by your kindness during this difficult time. We have decided to keep this GoFundMe open to help Brian’s family during this season. Thank you for walking with us through this journey.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For those who are just being introduced to Brian, he is a beloved worship leader, songwriter, husband and father of 6 who has written many songs for Faith communities around the world that have encouraged countless lives, like "Refiner's Fire, Faithful One, &amp; Come Now Is The Time To Worship". His heart and purpose over his career was to sing love over people, inspire hope, comfort the grieving, and bring peace amongst the chaos in a hurting world. He and his wife Joyce have 6 adult children with Fragile X syndrome, 2 who require full-time care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Brian was admitted to a hospital in Vancouver, which is an hour and a half from their home in Abbotsford. He had been suffering from severe pain from undiagnosed medical issues for months, dating back to February when he started being confined to his bed. What initially seemed like a standard enlarged prostate in need of surgery led to Brian being in the hospital with several complications that have required teams of medical professionals to come together to determine how to move forward. Scans indicated a mass in the pelvis and spots on the liver, lungs, and near the heart, which led to the diagnosis of stage 4 cancer. On July 21st, Brian died in his home, surrounded by his family and friends.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Originally, this fundraiser was meant to raise funds to help the Doerksens and their close community who were taking shifts to be in the hospital to have a home base close to help make decisions for Brian's care, support Joyce and the family, and also to help with food costs and with extra provisions for their special needs children. Brian hadn't been able to work since February, with all his spring tour dates being cancelled.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Doerksens are some of the most generous people we know, and in their time of need, we want them to know how loved and supported they are.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We thank everyone for your prayers and support over these past months, and we encourage you to continue supporting the Doerksens as they enter this challenging season.

<div>Oh boy, this is in need of an update!

<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi, I'm Sierra. Stay-at-home mom of three with a crazy delusional dream of paying off all of our consumer debt in just one single year. (Impossible I know!)
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>After my husband had a work incident that left us with no income for a time, and the joys of emergency home repairs and medical bills, debt quickly became an everyday budget line item. And I won't lie, there are some less than responsible debts in there. We live and we learn!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I am sharing my real life updates, one day at a time, to help encourage and motivate others in similar situations. Motherhood is hard, we don't need to have the additional burden of overwhelming finances too!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you have come here from my social media - Hi, I'm so glad you are here! The community we have built is beyond my wildest dreams. Donations are never expected, however they are always insanely appreciated.

Micropayment Mindset

<div>$68,000 in legal costs stand between my children and justice. <strong>As a disabled mom already in debt, I cannot afford this alone — but I must appeal to protect them</strong>. Every gift helps ensure two children’s voices are not silenced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I’m a loving mom of two children in Victoria, British Columbia.
</div>
<div>Right now, <strong>I have been separated from them in ways I believe are not in their best interests, and it is breaking their hearts.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>I am fighting for an appeal to ensure their voices and needs are truly heard.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To do this, I must purchase the official court transcripts — a cost of at least $28,000 before the project can even begin. That is nearly two years of my income, as I am currently on disability benefits and unable to work.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On top of this, I am already more massive debt from legal fees, — continued expenses are completely out of reach for me.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>When the law is not used to protect kids and instead used to harm them, the truth needs to be brought to light. A formal review of how the law is not being properly applied — and the dangerous effects on my children’s lives of this injustice — is necessary.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Every gift, no matter the size, brings us one step closer to justice and to protecting two children whose hearts are longing to be heard.

$68,000 in legal costs stand between my children and justice

<div>Dear Friends and Family,
</div>
<div>We are reaching out to you today with a heavy heart to share some news about our dearest friend and colleague, Brianna Westhaver.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Four weeks ago, Bri’s life took an unexpected turn when she received the results of a recent medical test. Overwhelmed with shock and emotion, Bri learned that she has a large cancerous tumor that's probably been growing for over five years.
</div>
<div>This week, Bri has received more answers, and not the ones we had hoped for. The cancer has metastasized to her lymph nodes, neck and throat. Bri is expected to start chemotherapy treatment within a month.
</div>
<div>The last month for Bri have been a whirlwind of emotions, from tears to laughter, deep love, and countless conversations. This immense journey is just beginning for Bri, and while it's definitely not how we all expected 2025 to unfold, for those who have the pleasure of knowing Bri will know that she is strong, courageous, fearless and absolutely ready to face this head-on.
</div>
<div>Bri is a mother of three, her eldest being 8 years old and her twin daughters who just turned 6 years old. Bri has a loving spouse John who travels across Canada regularly to attend various conventions and speaking events for burn victims as he survived a terrible car accident several years ago. The Westhaver family is a testament of perseverance, strength and love.
</div>
<div>Bri is not only a wonderful mother, wife, colleague and friend, but also a kind and caring person that has always been there for others. Now, it’s our turn to be there for Bri.
</div>
<div>We are setting up this GoFundMe campaign to help cover expenses for the Westhaver family as they navigate this tumultuous journey and to provide Bri with the support she needs moving forward to focus on her medical journey ahead. Every contribution, no matter how small, will make a difference and show Bri that she is not alone in this fight. Contributions will be used for exploring additional treament options beyond exisiting health care, support for time off work, meals, childcare, cleaning, household chores, etc.
</div>
<div>Please consider donating and sharing this campaign with your network. Your support means the world to Bri and all of us who love her so incredibly much. If you wish to donate in kind through other means please contact her support group at [email redacted].
</div>
<div>Thank you for your kindness and generosity. Together, we can help Bri and her family through this difficult journey.
</div>
<div>With gratitude,

<div>A Dream Made Reality – Worshiping Through Song

</div>

<div>It all started in 2010, in the pews of a small church on the east side of Washington. That day, God pressed on my heart to read Romans 12—a call to be a living sacrifice, holy and pleasing to the Lord. It was a defining moment that sparked my commitment to give every part of myself to Him and to serve Him wholeheartedly.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Since then, God has led me on an incredible journey—serving as a Worship Director for over ten years across five churches, from Vancouver Island to Vancouver, Washington. Through these experiences, He has shaped me as a leader, a servant, a husband, and a father.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Now, I am stepping out in faith to publish the songs God has placed on my heart—songs that I pray will encourage and inspire others to worship the Lord through song.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>How You Can Help

</div>

<div>The next step is recording and releasing a 3-4 song EP, with an estimated cost of $3,000, which will cover:

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>* Studio time and production

</div>

<div>* Mixing and mastering

</div>

<div>* Promotions and distribution

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>I would be incredibly grateful for any support in making this vision a reality. Whether through a donation, a prayer, or simply sharing this GoFundMe, your support means the world to me.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Thank you to everyone who has impacted, shaped, and strengthened my relationship with God throughout this journey. I look forward to this next season and what He has in store.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>With thankfulness,

Rebuild for the Hooker Family After Devastating House Fire

<div>Hello,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We are the Conway Family: Evan, Hailee, Oliver, and Alex. Our son Oliver is 8 years old. We live in Victoria, BC. For a number of months, Oliver has been having troubling, intense headaches. On May 2, 2023, after an investigative CT scan, it was discovered that he had a cancerous brain tumor. Life for our family changed on a dime, and we suddenly found ourselves with Oliver at BC Children's Hospital in Vancouver awaiting surgery to remove the tumor. Later that week he had the tumor removed successfully. Unfortunately, post-op testing confirmed that the tumor had metastasized to another part of his brain. It has been the darkest days of our life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Oliver requires many months of treatment. He will have up to 6 months of chemotherapy at BC Children's Hospital and 6 weeks of radiation therapy in Seattle.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hailee, a Certified Dental Assistant, and Evan, an Electrician, have each had to take a leave of absence from their jobs in Victoria to be present with Oliver in Vancouver through his neurosurgery and now as he begins his chemo and radiation.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Upcoming costs for our family as we naviagate this new chapter of our lives:
</div>
<ul>
<li>Travel between Victoria and Vancouver for Hailee and Evan as they continue to care for Oliver in Vancouver and Alex in Victoria.
</li>
<li>Travel costs to and from Seattle during Oliver's radiation therapy. (The cost of treatment is covered, and we are hoping we will be able to stay at the Ronald McDonald house while there. But we will be going back and forth to Victoria sometimes weekly during these six weeks).
</li>
<li>Food costs for Hailee and Evan during their time at BC Children's Hospital and in Seattle.
</li>
<li>Unexpected costs that may arise throughout this new journey (extra transportation, hotels etc.).
</li>
</ul>

<div>*Update*
</div>
<div>There is unfortunately nothing new to report. All leads have been exhausted and the search efforts have been ended by the RCMP.
</div>
<div>if anyone has any information at all, they are encouraged to contact the RCMP directly. The family is incredibly thankfully for everyone who donated, shared any leads, helped with the search and helped to spread the word. If there are any changes specific to Ben’s whereabouts, an update will be provided.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>**update**
</div>
<div>Hello everyone,
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, there is no news to share regarding Ben going missing. Friends and family have gone up many times to search around the area of his last know whereabouts, with no new information, leads or anything.
</div>
<div>Please continue to spread the word. The family is working hard to keep the search active, but unfortunately, keep hitting dead ends.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hey,
</div>
<div>My name is Measha and I am making this go fund me on behalf of the family of Ben Fournier.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ben is a well respected IT tech in Victoria. Ben has always been everyone’s go to person and known as the guy who would give anyone in need the shirt off his back. His laugh is contagious and a smile that lights up the room.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Ben left Victoria April 16th, and hasn’t been seen or heard of since he left his weekly Sunday brunch with his buddies. His last known where abouts was in Mill Bay on the 16th and it’s been radio silent ever since.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The Shawnigan RCMP are actively managing this investigation, along side Cowichan Search and Rescue. While this happens, the family is trying to ensure the rent at his house is paid, cover the impound fees of his car and keep his life rolling while the investigation continues on.
</div>
<div>His niece has not been able to work since the 16th while she works with all the different authorities and continues to make trips up and down the island to help with search efforts and following up as needed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, due to the nature and logistics of when people go missing, there aren’t any supports in place to help families move through this hard time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Anything helps while the family waits out the timeframes or Uncle Ben is found safe and comes home.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you’re unable to donate, please spread the word. The more eyes we have out there, the better.
</div>

Help with costs while search for Ben continues

<div>Hi everyone my name is Brody, a small business owner myself hoping to make a difference for a great friend and fellow small business owner in hard times. I am reaching out today to request assistance in something we all would never dream could happen to us. Unfortunately for a good friend of mine, it did. On the evening of march 14th Jordans business caught on fire, leaving him with a massive loss of inventory, tooling, and an unfathomable amount of lost personal possessions left from his late father.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jordan is a very kind-hearted man who helps many people along his path, his loss of tooling to support his business is a critical piece to rebuild. the funding will be used for Jordan to get the tooling, shop supplies, and personal items required to open his doors again to make a living for him and his daughter, 100% of the funds collected will be going directly to Jordan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From a young age, a very large part of jordans life has been on 2 wheels, from racing motocross to recently getting into drifting cars. unfortunately, multiple of his personal vehicles were also in the shop when it burnt down, including his beloved Cobra muscle car that his late father left him. This will be the most greatly missed one for him.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We ask you to dig deep down in your hearts and think what if this happened to you or someone close to you. I really appreciate you reading this message and if you can donate anything at all it will be greatly appreciated. As a friend of Jordan's I would like to thank anyone who took the time to read this go fund me.

Help Jordan and his small business rebuild!

<div>Bowser BC lost an iconic part of their community on December 6th when Bowser Automotive was reduced to rubble by the fire that destroyed the business and building. The Flegel Family has owned and served this community for 30+ years with fuel, propane, mechanics, towing and welding services.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thomas has been the operating manager since his dad, Ted passed in 2020. Thomas lived onsite with his Fiancé Grace. They’re expecting their first baby in early December. They have lost their residence, livelihood and the bright future they envisioned and all the countless upgrades, even the award winning “Christmas light up” …. GONE….
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Also, this fire destroyed the livelihood of Carla, five staff and VIU apprentice mechanic. All the tools, personal belongings, inventory, bookkeeping records and one of three tow trucks, are unrecoverable. Most of which are not covered by insurance. Monies from insurance will go toward the rebuilding of the premises. The insurance will not be enough to cover design, new building requirements, permit fees or the many unknown and hidden costs involved in restoring this business and service station to the town of Bowser.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The family is devastated by this tragedy, both personally and professionally. The community has echoed the sentiments of missing not only this longstanding building but the convenience and extraordinary personalized service offered by all the staff. The stories of community members being helped out of precarious positions with vehicles needing Bowser Towing, to the pride and professionalism of a Red Seal Mechanic who went ‘the extra mile’ to ensure the safety of the people in our community, are a testament to this iconic business. Everyone has sent messages and offers to ‘help’ in any way they can. And as we all know, it takes a community to raise a child and we know Thomas and Grace wish to raise their child right here in Bowser! This… is how you can help.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We ask you to rally around the Flegel Family, who have often come to help you in your times of need. The monies from this fundraiser will help the family to begin again. Recover from this catastrophe. Welcome Baby Poppy Flegel to our community. Help rebuild their lives, secure a future in this community by restoring this business and building, and provide local employment and essential services.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Let's rally around the Flegel family and support them this holiday season and into the future as they begin again after this devastating loss.

Bowser Esso Gas Station Fire

<div>On October 14th, 2022, my friend and I were on our way home from a friend's birthday dinner, and were viciously attacked by a group of youth brandishing weapons while attempting to get fuel in our vehicle for our drive home. During the altercation my friend was unfortunately beaten over the head with a metal baton, and stabbed in his chest with a kitchen knife. The damages that have come with this incident has left Lorne with a punctured lung, alot more non life threatening injuries, and is now struggling to care for his 4 children. The goal of this go fund me is to try and help ease any stress that comes along with lornes healing process, doctors appointments, and general needs to help support him and his family while he is unable to work. Anything in this moment in time helps. Thank you.

Helping Lorne and Family after stabbing

<div>Hello:
</div>
<div>Our feral cat rehabilitation group just rescued twenty-three abandoned kittens from a house where the situation got out of control. A man used to love his kitties, but he did not have the financial ability to spay and neuter the cats before adopting them out. Unfortunately, his good intentions ended in greed and his good first intentions led to selfishness and neglect.
</div>
<div>He was finally evicted leaving all the thirty-six tiny kittens and another twenty teenage kittens behind, locked in the house without food or water.
</div>
<div>I was called to go do the rescue and between friends and volunteers we first saved the little ones.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We left enough food to volunteers for the next three weeks until we hopefully raise funds to
</div>
<div>pay for all the veterinary medical cost, the food and the expensive gasoline to get there. The man's
</div>
<div>house is seventy km away from our town of Sooke.
</div>
<div>Please, note, in addition, to the above mentioned forty-three kittens, we have also previously
</div>
<div>rescued another seven kittens from three feral mothers.
</div>
<div>If this amount of angels to help was not enough, we also rescued a pregnant mother who was left
</div>
<div>behind on moving day by her family.
</div>

Help Us Spay-Neuter 43 Abandoned Kittens

<div>This fundraiser is to help Larisa and Emil navigate their baby Arend’s medical journey following a rare blood disorder, CGD, diagnosis that required him to have a Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT, BMT).
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Arend was diagnosed at 4 months old, after several complications and life threatening infections. Since then, he's been heavily monitored and involved with several departments at BC Children's hospital. After his diagnosis his family found out that there was not a suitable match for him in the international stem cell registry and they began to recruit stem cell donors across Canada, Europe and South Africa. It was with heavy hearts that they found out his sister was also not a match for him. About half a year later, a match was found overseas and Arend began his prep for a Bone Marrow Transplant.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In 2023, when he was 18 months old, he underwent a Hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT). He endured several early complications with the activation of a viral family for which the treatment can negatively affect the engraftment of his donor cells. The family remained living at the Ronald McDonald House BC &amp; Yukon at this time. At around 4 months post transplant, his family learned that the donor graft was failing.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>At this time, they were able to secure another donation from the same donor and therefore were able to offer him a Stem Cell 'Boost', (PBSC donation), without the need for further chemotherapy. Arend's body accepted the donor cells and they began to engraft.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Within months the donor graft started to fail again and the team initiated several experimental treatments to encourage the donor cells to populate. After living at RMH for 9 months, the family returned home. After 90 days, the treatment was stopped as the donor cells continued to dwindle and Arends original, and faulty, immune system was taking over.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Since then, the family has been living with great uncertainty of what comes next. At this point, they expect to do another Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) but with the lingering trauma from the first time, this does not come lightly. The financial, logistical and mental load of this consideration will not come lightly.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The funds raised here have been to relieve the financial burden of being away from home and not being able to work until this time. This has meant that the family was able to stay together in Vancouver during the transplant. The additional funds have been used to help cover medication costs and the expenses of travelling back and forth to BC Children's in Vancouver every 2-5 weeks since 2023.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As their extended family lives internationally and neither Emil nor Larisa grew up in BC, they are relying on each other and their community for support.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The coming years will be challenging time and they appreciate all the help.

<div><strong>Emergency Shelter Initiative for the Unhoused</strong><br /><br />For a second year in a row, there will be a limited Extreme Weather Response (EWR) for the unhoused population in the Greater Victoria area, estimates are that over 150 unsheltered people will be exposed to the elements during this winter season. At the same time, the city’s shelters continue to run at half capacity, as a result of ongoing Provincial Health Orders related to the pandemic. <br /><br />Due to these systemic challenges, a diverse group of community members are organizing a supplemental grassroots emergency response initiative called Community Alliance for Sheltering Alternatives (CASA). The CASA volunteer team will be facilitating the installation of short-term sheltering solutions within Greater Victoria via an inexpensive sheltering structure called a Conestoga Hut. <br /><br />Conestoga Huts offer a successful model that are used in cities across the USA, including Eugene, Oregon, where over 200 Conestoga Huts provide temporary shelter. For more information, see: <a href="https://communitysupportedshelters.org/conestoga-huts-00" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Community Supported Shelters</a> <br /><br />“This is a no-brainer for us as it fits our mission of providing shelter and supportive services to older persons and others in need." <strong>- Steve Chadick, former administrator of Eugene Village</strong><br /><br />The CASA team is asking private citizens, businesses, churches, and NGOs to consider contributing to this emergency response action. We are currently looking for all of the following: <br /><br />1. Property owners willing to host a single Conestoga Hut on hardscape for a predetermined amount of time, preferably on a location with close access to a public washroom <br /><br />2. Small financial donations to build one or more conestoga huts, which cost approximately $4,000 to build <br /><br />3. Groups of four volunteers, over 18 years of age, to work as “settlement support” teams for the resident of a conestoga hut <br /><br />The idea is to start small — with one hut to shelter one person — and scale it up over time, in collaboration with diverse community stakeholders and government organizations, to create alternatives to camping in parks and sleeping rough. Our immediate goal is to raise $4000 to fund construction of the first hut, and to find a property owner to provide the location. <br /><br />“With another cold winter coming, we have to try something new to support the people living rough on Victoria's streets. Conestoga Huts are a proven model that work in other cities. I fully support building a prototype Conestoga Hut that can be used to inspire a new model of shelter to address the crisis of homelessness across the region.”  <strong>- Calen McNeil, Big Wheel Community Foundation</strong><br /><br />“I've gotten to know Alex (featured in the promotional video below) over the last few months. With winter coming, vulnerable individuals like Alex deserve a dry, secure place to live. The Conestoga Hut is a proven solution to supporting people living rough. Why shouldn't we try them in Victoria? It's time we stop talking about this crisis, and do something about it.” <strong>- Rob Reid, New Balance Victoria &amp; Frontrunners </strong><br /><br />This is the link to our promotional video:<br /><a href="https://youtu.be/d1Ft0zuMNO8" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">Homeless Man Says A Conestoga Hut For Christmas Would Mean Everything</a> <br /><br />Please donate to this campaign to make this Emergency Shelter Initiative for the Unhoused a reality.<br /><br />If you are interested in getting involved as a contributor to the CASA program, please leave a message in the comments.<br /><br />Thank you for taking the time to consider supporting this issue and making Victoria a safer and more equitable place for everyone. <br /><br />The CASA Volunteer Team<br /><br />Krista Loughton <br />Matt Dell <br />Jeremy Caradonna<br /><br /><br /><br />

Emergency Shelter Initiative for the Unhoused

<div>Hi, my name is Tara and I’m setting up for a Christmas Miracle for a wonderful family in desperate need of a warm, dry and safe place to live. I’m calling on family, friends, friends of friends, and the greater community to help lift this struggling family up and give them the helping hand that they SO deserve.

</div>

<div>My friend Laura is a single mom of 3 who is working her butt off to rebuild the lives of herself and her children. They’re domestic violence survivors rebuilding from below rock bottom, and they could really use help in starting this new chapter of their lives. Since January 2020 this family has lost everything they owned TWICE. In May Laura collapsed from exhaustion and stress. They are currently living in a 5th wheel trailer that is so old and damaged that fixing it just isn’t even an option at this point. Money spent fixing it would essentially be money wasted, as it would just be a bandaid solution. They’re doing the best they can with what they’ve got, but it’s old, and beyond repair. There is a leak in the trailer that will eventually lead to severe rotting.

</div>

<div>The hope here is to set this family up with new space to call home by Christmas, especially with the cold and wet winter months upon us. Laura is currently in school full time to build a brighter future for her young family. She needs to be able to focus her time and energy on her family and her education. She had an RV tech from Wet Coast RV Repair out to inspect her trailer and he said that it was not a repairable problem, and his recommendation was to get a new trailer. He connected her with Arbutus RV to look at getting something newer but financing wasn’t doable.
</div>

<div>We’ve been in contact with a private seller on the island who is selling the trailer that they purchased to live in before they secured housing. Our goal is to have Laura and the kids out of their current trailer as soon as humanly possible, and into this trailer.

</div>

<div>This amazing momma has such a giving and helping heart and her kids are all true gems. She is always the first person to offer help if anyone needs it. With all that is on her plate, she never asks for help, opting rather to work hard to make everything happen. It’s time for her to be lifted up and supported. It is such a privilege to be helping this family and cheering them on in their journey. If you’re able to help make this miracle happen, please do. Every little bit counts ❤️

<p>Last summer, Cinder and I embarked on a unforgettable bike tour from Victoria, BC to Hillside Beach, MB, in honour of my grandma Nelida Leslie who passed away in April 2020. Before we began our journey, Cinder had an extensive TPLO surgery to repair her cruciate ligament, and the costs to complete the operation were $5,000. I was under financial stress, so I decided to buck and split cords of wood to fundraise the operation. Without the generous contributions raised, Cinder wouldn’t have been able to have had her surgery.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>This summer, Cinder and I will be hitting the road once again — this time, with a different mission. We’re teaming up with Broken Promises Rescue, a volunteer-run, non-profit animal rescue organization in Victoria, BC, to raise funds for animals’ procedures like Cinder’s.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>Last year alone, Broken Promises Rescue spent $120,000 on vet bills. To help these unwanted, neglected, and orphaned animals on Vancouver Island and beyond get the care they need to survive, Cinder and I will be cycling from Victoria, BC to Tuktoyaktuk, NT. We will ride to Port Hardy, take the ferry to Prince Rupert, continue north to the Yukon, and eventually end our journey at the Arctic Ocean. By the end of our five-week trip, we hope to raise $10,000 with your help.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>We understand it’s been a stressful time to financially support organizations, but if animals are dear to your heart and you have the means, please consider supporting this mission.
</p>

</p>
<p>We're hosting a volleyball tournament Wednesday, July 14 at Beacon Hill Park (details coming soon!) to kickoff our fundraising goals and will be starting our journey north Friday, July 16. Arctic Bound: Help Raise $20K to Rescue Animals

Saul Barrios passed away suddenly on Nov 20, 2018 of heart failure after a short illness of endocarditis. Now the world for so many has changed forever. Saul was the beloved by his family who had the joy of watching him grow over the years from a precocious child to a loving husband, father, brother, uncle, cousin, nephew and friend to so many. Saul was the loving husband and High School sweet heart of Heather Croft Barrios, a Certified Dental Assistant (CDA) at the Cool-Aid clinic in Victoria. She has lost the love of her life and the father of their two boys Dominic 4yr, Marcus 1.5 yr, and their little girl Due Dec 01, 2018. His children will never know the extent to which Saul could enrich the life of those he touched.  They will have memories, but those are limited and fade over the years to mere glimpses of times and places, smiles and hugs. Saul was a kind-hearted soul with a contagious smile. His family and friends can attest to his light-hearted spirit and gentle mannerism. Saul was always kind and went out of his way to help others. His family was his everything.  Now Saul needs our help as he was the sole provider for his family while his wife is on maternity leave. It is sad and scary to imagine the difficult time they will go through without him. Let us support them and let them know they are not alone or forgotten. Saul died far too young.  He has left behind a family that must move forward in his absence, without the financial security offered by his sheer determination and work ethic.  With Saul alive, his family would want for nothing, for they had his love.  In his absence, they will need the love and support of his friends and community. Our hearts are forever broken. For those who Love Saul, and to those who Saul Loved. Thank you for your love and support Administer: Jennifer Schmelzle Relationship To Family : Heather Barrios's cousin All funds collected will be directed to Heather Barrios to cover living expenses for her and the children.

<p>Early wednesday afternoon our dear friend and employee, Rana, was on his way to work after celebrating his son's 4th birthday when he was tragically struck by a vehicle whilst walking on the sidewalk near Gorge Road West. Rana has been in the hospital with life-threatening injuries battling for his limbs and his life. He is currently in critical condition after having lost one leg, and lots of blood. We are hoping he is strong enough to fight through this battle. In the meantime, he has a wife, a four year old, and unborn twins on the way that are in need of your support + love.</p>
<p>Sizzling Tandoor will be taking care of the living needs of his family until further notice, but in addition, they will require the extra funds to compensate the finacial strain they will be facing during this difficult time. No amount is too little, so please donate whatever you can to help this young family get by in this difficult time in their life.  <br /><br />The funds collected by us for Rana's famply will be used to provide his wife and kids with basic living needs such as housing, food, diapers for the babies, etc. Rana was the only breadwinner in the family so as you can imagine this family with young children will be facing a diffult time to fulfill their needs. </p>
<p>Thank you for all of your love and support in advance!</p>

As most of you know, Berkley has Pallister Killian Syndrome. She is non verbal and does not walk or sit unassisted. She has a trach, chronic lung disease, and suffers from seizures. As you can imagine, we make the trip to and from Dallas several times a year to see her specialists. She is now four years old and growing so fast! She has outgrown her carseat, and quite frankly our car! She gets very uncomfortable after a few hours in her carseat, and we have come to the realization its time for a wheelchair van. They're a big chunk of change, but we were lucky enough to find a used one in excellent condition with great mileage. The owner has graciously agreed to hold it for us for two weeks while we try to raise some money. If you have the means and feel it in your heart to help, we greatly appreciate it. Thank you for taking the time to read this and for your support!

Each week our staff of nurses, counselors and social workers drive over 750 miles to ensure imprisoned children receive <strong>medical care, trauma counseling, discipleship, school necessities, transportation to court, and are reunited with their families</strong>. <br /><br />But sometimes the uncertainty of Uganda's roads get the better of us.
