Right now in our community, area shelters are completely full. This means that every single night, vulnerable women are being turned away with absolutely nowhere safe to sleep. No one should have to face the vulnerability and danger of spending the night on the street. We are starting this fundraiser to provide immediate, emergency shelter solutions—whether that means funding temporary motel stays, securing safe transportation, assembling care kits with essentials, or partnering with local spaces to provide a warm, secure bed for the night. The need is urgent. Many women are left to navigate unsafe environments, facing cold nights and uncertainty. By coming together, we can offer hope and practical support. Donations will be used to cover the cost of lodging, transportation, and basic necessities, ensuring that women have access to safety and dignity when shelters are at capacity. Every donation, no matter the size, helps provide a woman with warmth, safety, and dignity. I am Ameriah, founder of SHE: Sovereign Her Emergence, a creative project dedicated to supporting women who need safe housing and resources. Since June 2020, I have been working to help women who are often overlooked—especially those without children, who are unable to access shelters when they need them most. Many women are left vulnerable, sleeping outside, and facing exploitation and abuse. My own experience inspired me to create a program that offers practical help and hope. SHE provides baked goods for donation, and we plan to raise funds through jewelry, clothing, and artwork sales at public events. The funds raised will help cover legal licenses to organize the nonprofit, supplies for creative projects, transportation, housing, and product purchases for fundraising. This initiative also supports women released from jail, those needing an address for probation or safe harbor services, and mothers seeking reunification with their children after crisis situations. We offer toiletries, relocation opportunities, and a safe place to gain self-sufficiency. There are women who don’t feel safe when shelters are limited.
