My younger brother Moath had just started university to study Programming. The war has disrupted our lives and filled our futures with uncertainty, but what propels us now is the hope that we may be able to start again.

It is dangerous for us to go outside because of the bombing, but we have to walk for hours just to find food and water, or to complete simple tasks like charging our phones. My brother Mohammed came close to death when he was working and there were gunshots nearby that pierced his tent providing medical services.

<div>Streets are difficult to walk on due to the destruction of infrastructure. Temperatures are very high, and there is no electricity or cold water since the start of the war. Municipalities have stopped working, so garbage has accumulated, and infectious diseases are spreading among people. We are forced to walk through sewage on the street, creating very unhygienic conditions. On top of that, prices for everything are very high, as no aid can enter Gaza, despite the fact that we have all been surviving for no months with no sources of income.

The war not only destroyed our home, but it also destroyed my father’s workplace, which we relied on to complete our studies, as my father was a skilled carpenter in his field, and our land, from which we used to make a living and eat, was destroyed.

<div>As a nursing student in my final year (graduation year), I found myself in the middle of the road. My future was harmed by the destruction of my university, and my sisters Aseel and Shahad were unable to complete their educational career either.

So we decided to return despite the danger of the house, but we didn't stay there for two weeks. Where we miraculously survived after a belt of fire in the middle of the night on our neighbors and on us, we fled with our clothes to save our lives, and returned to suffering and cold again.

<div>Two weeks later, the occupation destroyed the entire house. Now we live in our relatives’ apartment with 40 of them, and we suffer from water, food, and everything.

<div>I would like to say some words that come to my mind.. Why is all this happening to us? Why do we not live like the rest of humanity? Why do we always live in injustice? Are we different from everyone else? We are helpless in everything.

Even some of the small dreams that I achieved before the war no longer exist because everything was demolished. I worked for 10 months as a cleaner so that I could collect money and buy my own laptop to work on freelance websites, but I did not succeed in this because the war destroyed everything, even the laptop was destroyed because it does not work now.

<div>I'm really tired because of everything that's happening. Till when?! Why does this conflict not end? What is my fault? I want to live like other people. I want freedom. I want all my rights. I travel to a place that gives me all my rights. I travel to a country when I want. Making something motivates me. I just want to achieve my dreams in any way. I would like to say something. I practiced parkour for 9 years and did not achieve any success because Gaza did not recognize this sport. Then I started making videos on YouTube and did not succeed in making profits because Gaza is considered a conflict zone and there is no significant profit making. Then I started freelancing, and then the war came and I did not succeed. Really achieve any success. This is tiring.

My uncle, along with his family (his wife and three children), has confronted unimaginable challenges in Gaza, where conflict and destruction have shattered their lives.

<div>They were leading peaceful lives until recent devastating events unfolded. The conflict not only claimed their home, left them without jobs and any means of livelihood, but also resulted in my uncle being injured during the war, requiring urgent medical help. Evacuating Gaza has become the only viable option for my family to survive the perilous situation.

<div>Despite attempting other avenues, none have proven successful, leaving evacuation through the Egyptian border, Rafah, as the sole option. While this process may be challenging and time-consuming, it is the only way forward. The cost of evacuating Gaza is nearly $11.000 per person, and I am reaching out for your support to make this possible.

<div>On another front, my immediate family (parents and siblings) has managed to evacuate Gaza, but not without borrowing money to cover expenses. <div>I left Gaza for an education that would build my future and help support my family. However, things sadly didn't go as planned.

<div>The war started and destroyed everything in my homeland. Our streets, buildings, and our schools. All of that was and is still being destroyed. More than 1 million people have been displaced, and have been living in tents, including my family. Unfortunately at the beginning of the war, I lost my brother (20) when our house was bombed with two missiles. Now, my family lost not only my brother but also all of their belongings. My family was forced to move to the south in an attempt to survive. This includes my parents Basheer and Rinad (see front picture) and 4 of my siblings, Marah (23), Menna (16), Mayar (14), and my little brother Ahmed, who is just 4 years old.

Help evacuate my family from Gaza

<div>My name is Abdallah. I am 22 years old. I like to eat key lime pie. My favorite song is Onceortwice by Oscar Anton. I love finding new trails to hike. I love to ride in the car with the windows down feeling the wind, especially by the beach. I love listening to my nephews laugh. I love enjoying a meal that my mother cooked just for me.

<div>I share all of this because, well, you might think that you don't know someone like me. But you do. Just because I am a Palestinian from Gaza does not change the quality of my dreams, the depth of my love, my love of a good pop song, or the way that my heart is breaking as my homeland and my family are under siege.

<div><strong>It is with a deep sense of heartache, after much deliberation with my sister Nedaa in Germany, that we share specifics about what our family in Gaza needs right now. It is scary for us to ask you for help. But we don't know what to do, so here we are.</strong>

<div>The destruction of our family home in Jabalia, North Gaza, is where this war lives for me. I grew up in a three-floor duplex, which housed my parents and my two brothers, Ayman and Mahmoud and their families in separate condos. My sister Abeer lived in a separate apartment complex in Sheikh Zayed, North Gaza.

<div>The neighbors next door were bombed on November 24, 2023, 30 minutes before the ceasefire was scheduled to take effect at 8 AM. That, in big part, destroyed my home while my family was there. My brothers’ condos upstairs were largely destroyed and my house suffered destroyed walls, broken windows, and maimed furniture. My room is the only functioning place in the house where my parents are staying, while my brothers are staying in other wall-less rooms.

<div>My family stayed in the North of Gaza even when the soldiers displaced them Dec 14- Jan 14 2024. On January 16th, what appears to be a drone or shelling attack on the same neighbors injured Ayman with 10 shrapnel pieces neck to ankle. We are lucky that none of them hit a life-threatening spot. He continues to ache, especially the neck. My 70-year-old baba lost around 20 kilos ~44 pounds, so did the rest of the family with the crushingly dire situation and resources.

<div>We did everything "right". We are educated, hard working, and we love peace. In fact, I've been studying peace and reconciliation for years through my participation in peacebuilding programs. Abeer worked as an architect, Mahmoud as a nurse, and Ayman as a school science lab tech and substitute teacher. Abeer’s husband, Mustafa, worked on telecoms as a mechatronics engineer.

<div>My parents; 70 and 62 yo; lived abroad most of their professional lives as teachers. They came home to Gaza in 2003 to build a future after retirement. We are hoping to give them a comfortable living as much as possible.

Relief for Abdallah's Family Amidst Crisis

<div>When I started this fundraiser in January 2024, my dear friend Mohammed Almzainy and his wife Shahd were expecting their first child. Since then, their darling baby girl has been born and, thanks to the help of generous donors from around the world, is healthy and doing well. During the brief ceasefire, she was able to receive her first polio vaccine. (She will need 2 more in the coming months to be fully immunized.)

<div>Mohammed and Shahd were in the midst of earning their master’s degrees when the events of last October interrupted their studies and destroyed their home. Over the past year, they’ve been forced to relocate at least half a dozen times as home after home has become uninhabitable from the bombing. Mohammed’s mother and two sisters have had to live in tents, moving first to Rafah and then evacuating to central Gaza. All 6 members of the family are now together, sleeping on the floor in the living room of a 3-bedroom, 1-bathroom house they share with 14 other people in Dier al-Balah in central Gaza.

<div>This summer, despite the chaos, both Mohammed and Shahd managed to resume their studies via the internet. They need to walk a mile to get a decent connection, and ten miles to get a connection strong enough to let them take their exams. Shahd has just submitted her thesis, and Mohammed plans to submit his in the next month. Their future is uncertain, though, in terms of work. No one can leave Gaza yet, and the internet is not reliable enough for a full-time, long-distance job — even if you can find a company that will hire people living in Gaza right now.
</div>

<div>Mohammed’s older sister was accepted to a university in Qatar, but has had to delay acceptance until the Israeli government allows her to leave. His younger sister, age 9, is being home schooled by family members because no elementary schools remain standing. It’s hard to obtain school supplies like textbooks, writing paper, or pencils for her, but they are trying to teach her what they can so she doesn’t fall too far behind.
</div>

</div>
<div>Shahd and baby are healthy despite the conditions. There is sewage running in the streets, and clean water is difficult to find. Bottled water is now 10 times its price before the conflict, and even non-bottled water (which is not safe enough for Shahd, who is breast feeding, and her baby to drink) is 3 times the price it was before. Farmland has been destroyed and food stocks have been depleted, so the family is relying on whatever expensive canned food they can find. 
</div>

<div>Medical care is almost non-existent, and Mohammed’s mother is still waiting for the surgery she has needed for the past year. People with urgent medical needs are being asked to bring their own medical supplies to the hospital, and family members are often required to assist doctors with procedures.
</div>

<div>Mohammed and Shahd have managed to keep the bulk of donated funds in reserve for exit fees in the hopes that they will be permitted to leave Gaza soon. However, as the conflict continues funds are increasingly needed for their basic survival. No one imagined that the Rafah exit would not only be closed, but that all the roads and buildings leading up to the Egyptian border would be completely burned and demolished. No one imagined the conflict would last this long with no end in sight.

<div>Thanks to your generosity, Mohammed was able to purchase a solar panel that has proved indispensable to their family. With it, they can power a 30-watt fan to keep the baby comfortable in 90 - 100 degree heat. If they alternate usage, the panel also allows them charge their cell phones so they can complete their university studies. Mohammed and Shahd are so grateful to you for making this possible for them.

<div>In January, we estimated for 2 months worth of expenses. Thankfully, your donations have allowed them to survive for an additional 7 months. We’re hoping you’ll continue to donate what you can to help them through whatever time remains.

<div>Costs are more exorbitant each day. For example, before the conflict, 3 potatoes cost about 55 cents. Now they cost the equivalent of $41. Fresh food is almost impossible to find, so the family relies mostly on canned goods. A single can of fava beans costs more than $5. There’s no work to help them afford to buy food, so your donations are the only way they are able to survive. They are so thankful for your help.

<div>To get the funds to Shahd, Mohammed, and their family, I transfer donations from my bank account in the US to Mohammed’s bank account in Gaza. There are no ATMs left standing, but Mohammed is able to access the funds by going to the bank when possible. The fees at the time of transfer are 12%, and Mohammed pays additional 8% fees as well as providing ID and extensive paperwork to collect the funds. Despite the high fees, we have found this to be the most cost-effective, secure, and efficient way to get the funds to Shahd and her baby.

<div>Originally, Mohammed and Shahd had 9 family members (including themselves and their baby) in Gaza. Just before the Rafah crossing was destroyed, 3 members of their family were able to leave. Now Mohammed is trying to keep about $52,000 USD in reserve for travel expenses for the remaining members of their family (Mohammed, Shahd, their baby, his mother, and his two sisters) to have ready if they are allowed to exit.

Costs could be more or, if there is humanitarian aid to cover some of the costs, less. <div>We only want to be able to save our family and contribute to a safe, hopeful future. As compassionate people who follow the events of the world, you know the horrible situation every Gazan has found themselves in for the past several months. Therefore, the following description may not be necessary, but I want to underline how urgently these funds are needed for the mere survival of our family. We want to convey the urgency and deep emotional distress we are currently experiencing. We are living with deep pain, generation after generation, and the recent events in Gaza have shattered our lives and left us in a state of profound despair.

<div>Since October 7th, our family has experienced three evacuations. Our neighbourhood in Gaza, Abu Mazen Square in the Northern district, has been destroyed. We evacuated to various relatives' homes in both the North and South, but we we were forced to evacuate again from the Nuseirat refugee camp when the Israelis dropped leaflets telling us the area was going to become a combat area. We are terrified for our safety. We are currently separated between different relatives’ homes and are living in overcrowded houses hosting dozens of people who have found themselves in a similar situation; food and water are scarce, and we are afraid we may soon no longer be able to find enough for ourselves and our kids. Bombardments are still ongoing near us and several homes in our area have been targeted, killing or wounding everyone inside.

<div>The recent horrifying events since 7th October have not only destroyed our homes but have also shattered our dreams and aspirations. Our home, which we have worked for years to obtain, was completely destroyed, along with most of our possessions.

<div>Both of us worked hard to provide for our family before the genocide started, and did whatever we could to provide for our children’s needs in order to guarantee them a stable future. Our son Mohammed is 6 years old , he’s a talented kid who enjoys maths and coding, and is an avid swimmer and football player. Our beautiful daughter Mariam is 3 years old, and has the most beautiful and gentle smile that could melt your heart. All of their dreams, aspirations, and potential for a better life have been mercilessly crushed.

<div>Both me and my husband also suffer from different pre-existing health conditions and the medications we need are no longer available. The longer we don’t have access to these medications, the more difficult our situation becomes and we fear for our children in the case that our medical conditions deteriorate.

<div>We need to raise enough money to pay the fees being requested by the Egyptian administration of the Rafah border crossing in order for us to evacuate to safety. These fees are exorbitantly high, and considering the situation inside the Strip, we find them to be unjust. However, at the moment it is the strongest straw to grasp. We have no other option.

<div>The goal is to raise enough money to evacuate my family’s two adults and two children. The current cost of one adult to enter Egypt from Gaza is around $7,000 per adult and $3,000 per child. This means that the funds needed for an evacuation to Egypt are around $20,000. To account for GoFundMe’s fees (2.9% plus $0.30 per donation), and to facilitate our onward travel from Rafah, we are therefore setting the funding goal at $22,000.

Iman is a Googler, Sacramento-resident, LGBT community member, the goofiest devoted friend, and a mom. While Iman has lived in the US for over a decade now, her sister Safi is trapped in Gaza with all her kids (Saif, Mohammed, Ahmed, Eman, and Adam). Safi is an Egyptian citizen but her kids are not. Initially Safi was lucky and could stay in her home in the south in Khan Younis. Then her home was bombed and now they are all in a tent near Rafah. It is cold and food prices are going up and up.

Help me save my sister

<div>I lost my mother when I was 16 (she was 57) and my sister this year (she was 43) to triple negative breast cancer. I have made the tough decision to undergo a bilateral mastectomy (removal of breast tissue) with reconstruction, which will reduce my chances of breast cancer by 95%. The plan my doctors and I have chosen will require 3 surgeries, which will require about a year to fully recover from. This is not an easy decision or path to travel down. However, it will free me from the anxiety that comes from mammograms and breast MRIs every 6 months, and give me the best odds of making it through middle age.

For 6 weeks after each surgery, I will have activity restrictions which include not raising my arms to/above my shoulders, reaching behind, or carrying more than 5lb. Katie’s Breast Cancer Prevention Surgery

<div>My name is Sulaiminah Burns. I am fundraising for the family of Destini Smothers. The family would like to hire a private investigator to locate Kareem Flake Sr. her partner and the last person to see her alive.

<div>They also need support caring for Destini's young sons Kareem Jr. (11) and Kaden (4).

<div>On November 03, 2020 Destini went missing in Queens NY. Her partner Kareem Flake Sr. claimed that she jumped out of their car in the middle of the night during a heated dispute, and that he hadn't seen her since and did not know where she was. Destini's family desperately searched for her. They were given the runaround by numerous agencies and not much was done to locate her. On March 11, 2021 a concerned neighbor called in an unfamiliar car that had been parked on their street for months. The body of Destini Smothers was found inside the trunk. This was the SAME CAR her partner claimed she jumped out of.
</div>

<div>Initially authorities believed that she succumbed to blunt force trauma to the head. A bullet was later discovered lodged in her skull. Despite all of this, there has been no media search for Kareem Flake Sr. There have been no news stories imploring viewers to tell the authorities where he is.
</div>

<div>Destini leaves behind two bright, handsome young men who I have had the pleasure of meeting on numerous occasions. Kareem is smart, funny and loves to read but you can see the sadness in his eyes. Kaden is an adorable toddler, with a mischievous sparkle in his eyes and boundless energy. They are wrapped in love by their Grandmother Simone King (Destini's mother) and Grandaunt Shareen King (who is raising)the boys) but the loss of their mom effects them.

<div>Destini Smothers loved her children more than anything. In family photos she is often smiling and holding or kissing one of them. Videos of her show a bubbly, happy woman enjoying life with her children and family. Always dancing, singing, laughing....that was Destini. Destini did not deserve what happened to her....no one does. Her children do not deserve to grow up in a world without her. Kareem and Kaden lost so much on November 3rd 2020. Their mom and their dad....he has not been in touch with them since that fateful night. I am asking anyone who can, to please help bring her killer to justice and to support her beautiful children.
