In Loving memory of Landon Deponte

<div>
 My name is Cassidy Bunyak, and I am one of Neil Crowe’s longtime friends.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Neil lost everything when his home was destroyed in the Bradley Creek wildfire. He is a Red Seal carpenter who lost all of his belongings, including the carpentry tools he had collected over the years, along with his hunting gear, fishing equipment, fly-tying supplies, and leatherworking tools and materials.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Neil is one of the most thoughtful and loving people you could meet. He is the kind of person who would drop anything to help someone in need, and now he is the one who needs our support.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Let’s all come together and support Neil as he begins rebuilding after this devastating loss. Any donation or share means so much and will help him replace the essentials and start over.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thank you for your kindness and support

Helping Neil rebuild what he lost in a house fire

<div>
 Hi my name is Lacey Gottfriedson, my mom Robin and I are creating this fundraiser on behalf of my family members, the Goodwater-Paul’s, who tragically lost their home and all of their belongings in the Bradley Creek wildfire.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 In a matter of hours, they went from the comfort and security of their home to having only the clothes they were able to leave with. They are currently staying with family in Kamloops while they begin to navigate the overwhelming process of rebuilding their lives.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 This fundraiser is important to me because no family should have to face such a devastating loss alone. While no amount of money can replace the memories, treasured belongings, or the home they lost, it can help ease some of the financial burden during this incredibly difficult time and remind them that they have a community standing beside them.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 All funds raised will go directly to the family to help cover immediate needs such as clothing, toiletries, medications, food, and other everyday essentials, as well as temporary living expenses and the cost of replacing household items as they begin to rebuild.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 If you are able to donate, no matter the amount, your generosity will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to give financially, sharing this fundraiser with your family, friends, and community is another wonderful way to help.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, compassion, and support during this difficult time.
</div>

Goodwater-Paul family support from Bradley Creek Wildfire

<div>
 On August 1, 2026, Margo Tamez, along with family members, were given minutes to evacuate their home due to the catastrophic Bradley Creek Wildfires raging through British Columbia, Canada. While they are safe, her neighbors, members of the Okanagan Indian Band, confirmed to her through video that the house she called home for 14 years on the OKIB reserve was a complete loss. Their home and belongings are totally destroyed, leaving them with just the clothes on their backs, a few cherished items, and a computer for professional duties. Beyond the loss of their home and possessions, the family is also mourning the loss of their beloved cats.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Margo is Lipan Apache. She grew up in South Texas but has lived and worked in British Columbia for the past 15 years, where she teaches at the University of British Columbia–Okanagan. While Margo resides on Okanagan land and contributes to the community, she is not a member of the Okanagan Indian Band and, as a result, has previously been ineligible to receive tribal disaster relief. Wildfire displacement disproportionately affects Indigenous communities, and this is the second wildfire displacement Margo has survived in the last three years.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Margo is an accomplished scholar, poet, and community activist. She has published several books of poetry, including Raven Eye and Naked Wanting, and has authored numerous articles on Indigenous women-led social movements. In particular, she has worked to raise awareness about Indigenous communities and the environment along the U.S.–Mexico border.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 As of August 2, Margo is on the ground meeting with local relief organizations and her community Elders while navigating the overwhelming task of rebuilding. This fundraiser was organized by two of Margo's colleagues in New Mexico, together with her daughter-in-law in Texas, to help coordinate support across the many communities that care about her. Funds raised will be used to help meet immediate needs resulting from the wildfire, including temporary housing, food, clothing, transportation, replacement of essential belongings, and other recovery expenses as Margo and her family begin rebuilding after their sudden evacuation and loss. Her colleagues in New Mexico, along with family across Texas, Utah, Oklahoma, South Dakota, North Dakota, Kansas, and beyond, are working to bring communities and resources together in support of Margo.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 This fire has devastated Margo, her family, and the surrounding First Nations community as emergency evacuation orders remain in effect. Margo and her family need your help. Please consider donating any amount you are comfortable giving. Our goal is to raise $30,000 to help replace essential belongings and provide immediate support as they begin the long process of rebuilding after this devastating loss.

<div>
 Hi, everyone, this is Duane Marchand, I am fundraising for my cousin Louis Fred and his family, as their entire life and legacy were devastated on August 2, 2026, by the Bradley Creek wildfire on OKIB#1. Everything he built with his bare hands, from the ground up, his family’s house, outbuildings, and animal shelters were razed to the ground by the wildfire. Please donate what you can. This is an emergency situation and his family would appreciate any and all donations. We need to help his family get back on their feet. Thank you, friends. Please help.

Help the Phelan-Alexis Family Rebuild After a Wildfire

<div>Help Our Uncle Freddy Rebuild After Unimaginable Loss!

</div>

<div>Our uncle has experienced more heartbreak than anyone should have to endure.

After 68 years of marriage, he lost the love of his life Edna on December 22. Together, they built a life filled with love, kindness, and unwavering devotion. Their home was more than just a house—it was a place of peace, comfort, laughter, and cherished memories shared with family and friends.

Then, on August 1, 2026, tragedy struck again when the Bradley Creek Fire destroyed his home on the Okanagan Indian Reserve. The home he and his wife created together—the place that held a lifetime of memories—was gone.

While nothing can replace the love they shared or the memories they made, we can help him take the first steps toward rebuilding.

We are asking for your support through this GoFundMe to help with immediate needs, temporary housing, clothing, household essentials, pet supplies and rebuilding his life after these devastating losses.

Every donation, no matter the amount, is deeply appreciated. If you are unable to donate, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others.

Together, we can surround him with the same love and compassion that he and his wife shared with everyone around them.

Thank you for your generosity, your prayers, and your support during this difficult time.<br />

 Fredrick Louis, also known as Freddy, is a father, brother, an uncle, great uncle, and grandfather to our family. He is a 91 year old elder that recently lost his home in the Bradley Creek Fire. Freddy and his dog Princess resided in their home until it was lost.

Help Uncle Fred Rebuild after Unimaginable Loss!

<div>
 On Saturday August 1st, the Alexis Family was one of the many families that fled the Bradley Creek Fires.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 With no notice, the wind pushed the fire northbound. Paul Alexis and his family evacuated their home within minutes to spare as the fire surrounded the property from behind the home and below along Westside Road. Having left in rush, they left behind all their belonging and clothing.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The home situated on Ta Ta Tlux Road along with their family garden was burned, leaving only the foundation. The family living there was Paul Alexis alongside his daughters, their respective partners and grandson. His daughters living with him are Joanne Alexis with her partner Amber Cardenas; and Maggie Alexis with her partner Kieran Davies-Fraser<em> </em>and their 2-year old son.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Donations made will go towards the family's basic needs, living expenses and help the family rebuild their lives after losing everything.
</div>

Help the Alexis Family Rebuild

<div>
 Hold onto each other. That's all I can think about. We are so grateful we didn't lose them. Now we feel so helpless in how to support our family members—my mother and father-in-law, and my sister and brother-in-law —have all lost everything in the devastating wildfires that took over Vernon's Westside Road.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 These three properties were all they had. My father-in-law has been the hardest working man I've known. He poured his heart and soul into the their home and property. My mother-in-law made this house into a home. My sister-in-law, an unstoppable force, a volunteer firefighter, paramedic and my brother-in-law a pillar of support for my in-laws whenever they needed.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Collectively, they've lost both their homes and the trailer that was my in-laws only source of income. The same trailer all 3 kids and 1 of ours came home to as babies.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 For nearly four decades, this land was the backdrop to every family milestone, holiday, and cherished memory and an open door. Leaving everything behind besides the clothes on their backs, a box of pictures, and their pets. The fire destroyed both of their family homes and trailer, reducing 39 years of irreplaceable family history to ashes.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Now, they are facing the unimaginable reality of such uncertainty. A weight on shoulders that shouldn't have to bare this. They have lost not just their physical houses and belongings, but the safe haven and foundation they spent a lifetime building together. My mother-in-law was the biggest homebody I have met in my life. Now knowing her safe place is gone is haunting me.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Because of the 2021 fire my in-laws couldn't afford insurance on their home -we are at such a loss.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 All I can do at this point is humbly ask for help. We ask our community, friends, and extended network for support to help them breath a little easier through this insurmountable loss. Funds raised will go directly toward:
</div>
<div>
 • Immediate emergency needs (temporary housing, food, and clothing).
</div>
<div>
 • Basic daily necessities and personal care items.
</div>
<div>
 • Essential medical and personal replacement needs.
</div>
<div>
 • Long-term recovery and eventual rebuilding efforts on the property
</div>
<div>
 Any contribution, no matter how small, will make a massive difference for these two families as they try to pick up the pieces and support one another through this tragedy. If you cannot donate, please share this page and keep our family in your thoughts and prayers.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for your kindness, generosity, and support during our family's hardest time.

<div><strong>Update</strong>
</div>
<div>It is with a profoundly heavy heart that we share that Jenny passed away yesterday. Our Community has lost a truly beautiful soul, and the weight of that loss is felt deeply by all of us.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jenny was loved by so many, and the impact she had on our lives will continue to echo for years to come. While we grieve, we also hold immense gratitude for the time we were fortunate enough to share with her. To honour her properly, we hope you’ll join us in carrying forward the inspiration she gave so freely—her kindness, her strength, her warmth, and her ability to make us all better versions of ourselves.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jenny was, and will always remain, a rare and radiant lifeforce. On behalf of our entire family, we invite you to take a moment today to honour her in whatever way feels right to you.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We also want to extend our deepest gratitude to everyone who has already supported Rainer and their family. Your generosity, your messages, and your compassion have meant more than words can express. The family is profoundly grateful for the love surrounding them during this incredibly difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As we continue to navigate this heartbreaking loss, we ask that you please consider sharing this GoFundMe or contributing if you are able. Any donation or share helps give Rainer and the family the space and time they need to grieve, heal, and be together as a family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jenny, we love you. We miss you more than words can express. Thank you for the time, the light, and the love you brought into our world.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>A Sudden and Devastating Diagnosis</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>There are some people whose presence makes the world feel lighter, kinder, and more hopeful. Jenny is one of those rare souls. She lifts every room she walks into — supportive, loving, witty, thoughtful, and an unwavering ally to all. She is the friend who shows up first, the colleague who puts others before herself, and the human who inspires you to be a better version of yourself.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In the spring of 2025, Jenny began experiencing headaches that slowly intensified over the summer and fall. By late autumn, she was struggling with concentration, word‑finding, and fatigue — symptoms that were completely out of character for someone as energetic and sharp as Jenny.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Two weeks ago, a brain scan revealed a large tumour in the right hemisphere of her brain. After further testing, Jenny received a heartbreaking diagnosis: <strong>High‑Grade Glioma, an aggressive and terminal brain cancer.</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Without intervention, doctors estimated she would have just 2 to 3 months to live. With emergency surgery followed by radiation and chemotherapy, she might gain up to a year.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Faced with an impossible decision, Jenny chose intervention — not for herself, but for the chance to have more time with her family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>She was fast‑tracked for emergency surgery and underwent the procedure on December 9th. She came through with incredible strength and is now home, beginning her recovery surrounded by Rainer, their two children, and her parents, who flew in from France to support the family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her doctors remain hopeful that she may have a year of meaningful time with her loved ones.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Jenny’s Impact </strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the moment Jenny walked into Okanagan Spirits to interview for our Brand Ambassador position, we knew we had found someone special. Jenny didn’t just join our team — she became family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her infectious laugh, sharp wit, boundless positivity, and genuine love for people became the heartbeat of our downtown Kelowna distillery. She became the distillery’s de facto leader not because she sought the role, but because her honesty (even if you didn't want to hear it), reliability, compassion, and warmth naturally drew people to her. Staff, customers, community partners — everyone felt it. Everyone still does.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jenny has given so much of herself to this community. Now, we have the chance to give something meaningful back.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>The Emotional and Practical Reality</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This diagnosis has turned the family’s world upside down. Jenny is the primary income earner, and with Rainer currently on medical disability, the financial strain is immense. The coming months will involve rehabilitation, medical appointments, and increasing care needs — all while navigating the emotional weight of a terminal prognosis with far too little time remaining.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What this family needs most right now is time together. Time without the crushing pressure of bills, logistics, or financial uncertainty. Time to make memories. Time to hold each other close. Time to simply be a family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Why this GoFundMe Matters</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This campaign has two purposes:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>1. To give Jenny and her family the Gift of Time now</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your generosity will allow them to spend meaningful time together without worrying about how to manage financially during the most difficult time of their lives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>2. To support the family in tough times ahead</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The months and years to come will be extraordinarily hard for Jenny’s family. This fund will help provide a much‑needed safety net, giving them the space and financial support to begin rebuilding their lives without Jenny.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>How You Can Help</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If Jenny has touched your life — through her work, her kindness, her humour, or simply her presence — please consider giving whatever you can. No amount is too small. Every contribution is a gesture of love, solidarity, and gratitude.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>You can also help by sharing this campaign, sending messages of support, or offering practical help if you’re close to the family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This season, as we reflect on what truly matters, Jenny’s story reminds us all how precious and fleeting our time is. Let’s come together as a community to give this beautiful family the gift they need most: <strong>time with the person they love.</strong>
</div>

Support for Jenny and Her Family: The Gift of Time

<div>Dear Friends of the Dream Café,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>For years, The Dream Café has been a cherished cultural hub, not only for the Penticton community and the Okanagan Valley but for artists from around the world who thrive on performing in its unique, intimate space. It’s where live music finds a welcoming stage, and where the community can experience the magic of a listening room like no other.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To keep this beloved venue thriving, we’re aiming to raise $20,000 by the end of the year. These funds will cover essential upgrades to equipment, including much-needed fridges and a dishwasher.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Canadian singer-songwriter Mariel Buckley recently shared how crucial venues like The Dream are: *“Venues that curate an intimate, listening crowd with great sound…are a disappearing thing. Now more than ever, we need to protect spaces like this one.”*
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With over 200 artists performing here each year, The Dream Café is a rare gem that supports musicians and enriches our community. While we continue to recover from the pandemic and have limited access to grants, we’re turning to our supporters to help secure the future of this special venue.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you’re able, please consider contributing to our GoFundMe campaign. Every bit brings us closer to our goal, and sharing this message with others helps too. Together, we can keep the music alive at The Dream Café.

<div>Update: The family is getting mixed messages but their house may still be standing, they won’t be able to confirm until it’s safe to go back. They are still displaced from their home and we’re not sure what condition their home may be in and when/ if they will be able to return.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi, my name is Angelina Rose, and last night my cousin in law and her family of 3 lost their home and everything they own in the Adams Lake fire. They had to leave with nothing except a few mismatched clothes for their young child. They lost all their belongings, family heirlooms, carving tools, art materials and much more. We are hoping to raise some funds for them to get back on their feet and start the long healing and rebuilding journey after this devastating fire.
</div>

Help family displaced by the Adams Lake fire

<div>They say it takes a village to raise a child and support a family, well this sentiment also holds true in times of immense need.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Carly is a loving and devoted mother of 2, a bonus Mom to 1, and is married to her best friend Cody. While raising young children Carly juggled the balance of motherhood and schooling while passionately pursuing her career in Accounting and Business management. During her 12+ year pursuit in post-secondary education, she has accrued an impressive string of letters behind her name (BBA, CPA, GDM), and she is 1 year away from completing her MBA. If this doesn’t say hard working, strong-willed and wildly driven, I don’t know what does!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Carly loves spending quality time with her family (including her fur children) making core memories at their camping spot, and she is often seen with a fishing rod in her hand, using her Grandad’s old fishing gear. Being in nature, with the people she loves, sitting near a fire makes her the happiest.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On July 12th, 2023, the unimaginable occurred when Carly and her children were involved in a devasting head-on collision just outside of Revelstoke, BC. The trio were on their way to Kelowna from Edmonton, making their yearly visit to the sunny Okanagan to see family and friends, when their lives were forever altered. Sadly, the accident also resulted in 2 fatalities of the occupants in the other vehicle involved in the crash.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Carly and her son were airlifted to Kamloops Inland Hospital, while her daughter was taken to Vernon Jubilee, and both children were later transferred to Vancouver Children’s Hospital for further care. Carly suffered injuries to her ribs, spine, as well as extensive breaks to both legs. Her son also experienced life-altering injuries, and both remain in hospital. Their truck and all their belongings that accompanied them on the trip were also completely lost in the accident. Though they have a long road to recovery ahead of them, we are grateful they are here!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Due to the severity of the injuries, a lot of care and support will be needed in the coming months-years. Both Carly’s husband (Cody) and Mother (Sandra) as well as the other parents in the family (Adrian and Shannon) are all needed to assist in the care of Carly and the kids, again it takes a village. This means extended time away from work and income for them all, not just for Carly as she physically recovers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As you can imagine, the impact of this devasting event will have lifelong affects on this beautiful family. Aside from the vast healing journey that lay ahead, the additional burden of both the immediate and long-term financial implications of this accident is incredibly overwhelming and almost impossible to comprehend.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>The next 6 months to a year are going to be the biggest challenge this family has taken on, and that’s where we urgently need help from you, our wonderful extended village of support! We would like to at least take one thing off their plate and lessen the financial strain of daily expenses, replacement of items lost in the crash and support with medical expenses required for their continued care.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please help us in supporting this amazingly hardworking, driven, compassionate and fun-loving Mama and her kiddos as they move toward their healing journey.

Help for Carly and her Kiddos!

<div>Passionate, creative, caring, and authentic. This was Laura. As a mother, wife, artisan, and active member of the community her capacity for love was unyielding, and she always approached life full of kindness and empathy.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>On July 31, 2021, Laura’s life was turned upside down. She went to the hospital with an intense cramp in her leg. A week later, numerous tests including a biopsy of her lymph node and a proper examination of a misdiagnosed “mole” on her heel led to a diagnosis that changed everything. She had cancer. It was stage IV metastatic melanoma which had spread through her lymph system to her lungs, liver, and bones.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>As the cancer was advanced and aggressive, treatment was swift and immunotherapy was the only option available. Unfortunately, her body did not respond well to this treatment. On Sunday, September 12th, 2021, Laura succumbed to complications from the therapy and the cancer itself.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Laura’s business, Oh! The Post!, was birthed out of her love for collecting postage stamps, a hobby she shared with her late grandfather. She sourced used and vintage postage stamps and repurposed them into one-of-a-kind jewellery. Her business was built on her love for intricate designs, art in the form of postage stamps, and her nerdy and beautiful knowledge of the countries and cultures of the world. For Laura, her business was very personal. She took great pride in creating each of her jewellery pieces, and built a business that could fulfil her love for postage stamps and her desire to interact with her customers and the community. She had been attending the Kelowna Farmers’ and Crafters’ Market twice weekly for seven years, where she was known by many other vendors as their first friend at the market. She was always the first to reach out and introduce herself to new vendors, ensuring that they felt welcome and included in the market family. Her influence was positive and enduring.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Laura’s 5-year-old daughter, Adelaide, was the light of her life. Being self-employed and working primarily from home allowed Laura to spend the majority of her time with Adi and they enjoyed exploring life together. Whether celebrating <a href="https://nationaldaycalendar.com/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">national days</a> , going to Momo sushi for lunch, sorting stamps, and walking to the post box to mail jewelry, they were a mother-daughter team and the bond they shared was powerful.
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>
</div>

<div>Right now, we are looking to help ease this time of financial uncertainty for the Burnell-Higgs family. The costs of having life turned upside down is ever changing and growing.
</div>

<div>At this point, donations collected for the family will help ease the financial stress of being off work for extended periods, as well as the strain of knowing this will be a long journey for Russ and Adi as they navigate their new reality. Donations collected from this GoFundMe can be used to relieve the stress of monthly bills, mortgage payments, additional childcare, as well as any other unexpected expenses. Anything raised above and beyond these costs will go into an education savings fund for Adi’s future.

<div>Laura was determined to share her story and emphasize the importance of early detection of melanoma. After her diagnosis, she started an Instagram account for anyone who wanted to follow her through this unscripted and unexpected chapter of her life. This was a place where she promised to keep it real. As she said in one of her posts, "It's not always comfortable, seeing the real. Especially in these days of curated, edited, carefully and strategically posted content." But this was Laura. She was as real and authentic as one can be, and you can see she was sharing honestly and truthfully throughout this process. Laura posted information about her treatments, procedures, and statistics about melanoma, and talked about the importance of being informed. She shared her feelings, thoughts, and her humour.

<div>There are steps we can all take in prevention and early detection of melanoma. If something feels or looks "off", get it checked! Listen to your body and look for its signs. Your body will tell you what’s happening, you just have to listen. It’s also important to advocate for yourself. Misdiagnosis can happen, so seek a second opinion if you feel unsure,

Eff Cancer - Supporting the Burnell-Higgs Family

<p>We at the Okanagan Indigenous Music and Arts Society are devastated to learn about the dire circumstances our relatives in Lytton BC are facing as their village is burning to the ground. We are moved to support them in any way possible and have organized this go-fund-me to provide financial support for those who have lost everything.

I have known Aysia since we were infants; we grew up down the street from each other. My earliest memories are of us playing together, arguing with each other, and of her resilience and bravery. I remember learning to ride my bike without training wheels and within 10 minutes, Aysia was speeding down the street with her bike with the training wheels off to my envy (I had been trying for ages and have the scars to prove it)! She has always been incredibly courageous and determined. I have so many memories like this - of Aysia putting her mind to something an achieving it through sheer determination. Neither Aysia nor Joy are ones to ask for help but right now they need it, and because of this, I have created this GoFundMe on their behalf. <br /><br /><br />Devastatingly, both Aysia and her mom are suffering with cancer at the same time. Having both ill puts an incredible strain, both financially and emotionally, upon them and their family. Aysia’s older sister, and Joy’s only other child, Chelsea, died of breast cancer which had metastasized to her brain in 2009 at the age of 35. Having lost Chelsea to cancer at such a young age was traumatic, and dealing with both of them having cancer now is crippling.
</p>

<p><br /><br />Joy was diagnosed with Stage 3 Ovarian cancer in Feb 2021. Her tumor is too large to operate on so she must endure several cycles of chemotherapy to shrink it, before having a complete hysterectomy followed by more cycles of chemo. She had to stop working due to the debilitating nature of her chemo treatment and risk of covid. Joy is one of the kindest, hardest working women I know. At 66 years old, she is still the primary earner in her household.  <br /><br /> <br />Joy’s daughter, Aysia, was just diagnosed on March 23rd with breast cancer at 33 years old. This is devastating for her as she is her mother’s primary caregiver. In addition to limiting her ability to care for her mother, Aysia cannot fully provide financially for herself. She suffered a traumatic brain injury at work in Oct 2019 leaving her with permanent visual disturbances, cognitive deficits as well as debilitating migraines that cause her many issues making it difficult to work.  <br /><br /><br />Aysia’s cancer still requires further testing but so far it seems as though she has the same aggressive form of cancer as her sister. Her surgical oncologist is awaiting the results of genetic testing before creating a tailored plan but Aysia will at least be having a double mastectomy at the end of April, likely followed by either chemo or radiation given the nature of her type of cancer.  <br /><br /><br />Aysia’s partner has stepped up to provide financially as much as possible but she cannot support both households on just her income. Unfortunately, medical E.I. only provides up to 15 weeks of assistance and will not pay all their bills let alone get them through their treatment and recovery time.  <br /> <br /><br />The stress and fear of both being diagnosed with cancer and Aysia’s at such a young age, similar to her sister’s, is immeasurable. <br /><br /> <br />I am setting up this GoFundMe to help ease some of the financial burden so these two beautiful ladies can focus on healing and recovering together. The money from this will go directly into both’s expenses - rent and mortgage, bills, healthy foods, and supplements needed during this time. <br /><br /><br />As you can imagine, having not one, but two family members afflicted with cancer at the same time not only carries double the financial burden but also limits the financial ability for each extended family hub to care for the other - as members of each are unable to work. <br /><br /><br />We appreciate any donation - every dollar helps. Thank you very much. <br /><br /><br />Kerri, on behalf of Aysia and Joy.

Support Aysia & Joy While They Beat Cancer

<p>I (Delee) had a pipe burst which resulted in my ceiling collapsing, and floor being destroyed. I have been without income for a year, and so am asking for help to repair the plumbing and extensive damage done. The entire back end of my mobile home is destroyed, and mildew and mold have set in.
</p>

<p>I am asking for help to fix the plumbing, the ceiling, and the floor (and whatever damage has been incurred to the foundation supports). I will be without water &amp; possibly need another place to stay until I can get it fixed (which will depend on how this fundraiser goes). The amount I’ve initially set should take care of the basic repairs (hopefully).
</p>

<p>I am requesting that you share this with others, as every little bit will help at this point. I’m at a total loss right now. <br /><br />Update (almost 2 weeks later): This is still listed as being under review, so I am not sure what else to say... I am still unable to get the pipes fixed, and so am still without consistent water (I can turn on water long enough to fill some buckets, and use those). I am still in my place with windows open (to air out the mold). I am hoping GoFundMe finishes their review soon, so I can get things fixed.

Nothing could have prepared any of us for this.  <br /><br />As his family and friends, we are profoundly grateful and overwhelmed by the outpouring of love and support we have recieved from the community. Many of you have asked how you can help.  Sadly, Rene did not have life insurance.  We are raising money to help Chelsea and the family with their expenses over the coming weeks and months. We want to relieve some financial pressure and give this grieving family the only thing they really need right now - time to greive and heal.  <br /><br />Thank you for your kindness.
