<div>One year ago, my life changed forever. I underwent a major Whipple surgery—an operation that left deep marks on my body, my mind, and my future. Since then, nothing has been the same.

<div>Because of my health and the lack of space in a rehabilitation center, I now live in supported housing (HVO) in the Netherlands. I face each day surrounded by care, but without the one person who means everything to me: my wife.

<div>My name is Ron. I am married to the woman I love deeply, but illness has torn us apart physically. The surgery weakened me, but the loneliness has been even harder to bear.

<div>The most painful part of this journey is not just the disease—it is waking up every day without my wife by my side. We have not been able to hold each other, comfort each other, or simply sit together in silence for over a year. The emotional toll on both of us is immense.
