Help Petey Corn, aka Peter Reniche, Pay for Urgently Needed Oral Surgery and Dentures costing $10,000
So many of my sweet and wonderful friends have already, and we're so close to our goal but I could really use your help to get there.
I’m 66, and I’ve lived in nearly consistent dental pain, for many years. What started as untreated infections, and failing teeth has reached a breaking point.
What Happened
For years I suffered debilitating headaches that no doctor could explain. Eventually I learned the cause: untreated severe dental infections. After several extractions, the headaches disappeared (temporarily)
But over time, more teeth failed. More infections. More procedures.
Now the remaining teeth must be removed, and I need dentures to restore basic function.
Waiting is no longer an option.
Why Insurance Won’t Cover It
Medicare does not meaningfully cover dental work.
I recently lost Medi-Cal due to being slightly over the income limit.
The out-of-pocket cost is significant — and unavoidable.
The Plan
I am moving forward with treatment immediately:
• Oral surgery (extractions + anesthesia): $7,821 (known)
• Dentures / partials: approximately $3,000
Total projected cost: $10,000
(I will update as I know more)
I’ve rebuilt my credit and secured credit lines so I can stop the pain now. This fundraiser will help me pay down that debt so I don’t undo the financial stability I worked hard to rebuild. I’ve been paying down about $4000 in previous credit card debt while maintaining a good credit score and steadily increasing my available credit. I will be able to charge both the oral surgery and the dentures, but keeping up with the payments and not racking up tons of interest will be the real trick, and is why I am asking for your help!
Why This Matters
Chronic dental pain affects everything:
• My ability to work
• My confidence
• My mental health
• My ability to eat, sleep, and smile
Why it's urgent
On Valentine's weekend I had an abscess burst. The pressure push one of my teeth and knocked it so loose, and also caused a tear in my gum near the root of this tooth. The pain was extraordinary! I had to take antibiotics, and lots of Advil in combination with gabapentin for several days before the pain was bearable.
So now I’m asking for help from the community at large, from friends, from strangers, from anyone with a generous nature and the ability to help!
What Your Support Does
Your donation goes directly toward:
• Emergency extractions
• Dentures and restorative work
• Reducing the amount of compounded interest that I will end up with as I pay down this medical debt (on top of the debt I was already paying down)
Every contribution — small or large — truly helps!
And if you can’t donate, sharing the link makes a real difference. Sharing leads to visibility. Visibility leads to support.
The Good News
The oral surgeon and dentist are coordinated. The process has begun.
Support has already started coming in — and I am deeply grateful.
I picture the day I can smile fully again — without pain, without hiding. That image keeps me moving forward.
Please consider donating!
With real gratitude,
Petey Corn aka Peter Reniche
