<li>Finding money for a funeral and to celebrate someone's life is never easy, no matter what the age. But when children like Poppy (7) &amp; Lando (4) lose their Daddy and Mummy Siobhan has to fill both roles whilst managing and dealing with their loss, life can feel overwhelming.

<li>We all knew Ryan had the strength and determination to face whatever life threw at him. Despite very sad times recently, I think we'll all remember Ryan's smile that was not only infectious but always evident.

<li>Ryan was desperate to take the kids to Disney. If you can, any donation,  no matter how big or small, can make a real difference. Hopefully we can put smiles on Poppy and Lando's faces in the future, despite losing their amazing Daddy.

<div>Sadly, on 20th April 2026 I lost my Husband and our babies lost their Daddy Ryan at just 35 years old.
</div>
<div>Ryan was diagnosed with a rare cancer in November 2024, he received treatment and like the hero he always was battled it with everything he had. Unfortunately, the last dose of chemotherapy destroyed his immune system and caused sepsis with multi-organ failure, which ultimately ended his life.
</div>

<div>When Ryan was first diagnosed, he wanted to start his own charity for younger people, especially with families to help make the journey of a terminal illness brighter. Later on in his journey Ryan wanted to help the people that helped us!
</div>

<div>From this fundraiser, whatever funds are raised will be equally split between Edgar's Gift, Heartlink and Adult Intensive Care - Glenfield Hospital.
</div>

<div>Edgar's Gift - is a charity that operates in the East Midlands of England in the UK that provides gifts and experiences to young adults suffering with cancer in our area.
</div>
<div>They sent us, as a family, for two holidays to their caravan in Haven - Mablethorpe. These holidays provided us with a break away from the stresses of our new everyday life and gave our babies memories of their Daddy that will last a lifetime.
</div>

<div>Heartlink - is a charity that works alongside the East Midlands Congenital Heart Centre (where I work). Was founded in 1981 as a support organisation for parents and families who had a child with a heart condition. They have also been more committed over time to enhancing facilities for young patients and their families, as well as giving much-needed quality medical equipment. They also have 2 caravans in Butlins Skegness which they provide at a heavily discounted price to all patients, families and staff also including entertainment passes for all guests. They sent us on a holiday in 2025 which was amazing, we all had the best time and made lots of memories.

<div>Adult Intensive Care (Glenfield) - All of the staff on this unit were absolutely incredible on Ryan's last day here. He was only there for a day but we were all cared for like members of their own families. From the bereavement box they provided for the children including hand prints, ecgs, teddies, etc to the unbelievably hard work they put in to getting Ryan to be able to say bye to everyone who meant the most to him. They really are angels and deserve more than we can give!

<div>Tracey was our next door neighbor on Queen Street, Barkby Thorpe and lived with her partner and lovely parents Dawn and Pete. Tracey's death was both sudden and unexpected. Tracey was providing Dawn and Pete with a lot of care and support during their retirement. Both Dawn and Pete have and are battling their own health issues and never expected to be in the position where they would be planning their daughters funeral. Dawn and Pete want to say a quiet but respectful goodbye to Tracey, but with the high costs of funerals, the rising cost of living (especially for pensioners) and the fact that Pete's car now giving up, they really need a hand.

<div>This is where we come in. I am passionate about friends, family and my community. Dawn, Pete and Tracey tick all of those boxes. That is why I am asking for your help. We have managed to get together some money and wonderful offers of help already and just need some very kind donations to fulfill the very modest funeral that Dawn and Pete would like for Tracey. A lot of you will not know Dawn, Pete or Tracey. They will not mind me telling you that they are very shy and reserved people and ask for nothing. This is not their idea (I do however have their permission). But please, take my word for it, they are fantastic people with hearts bigger than most. I don't give many positive opinions of people, but that family are kind, loyal and loving.

<div>I have been asked why this is so important to me. Whilst I will happily help anyone if they need/ask for it, Dawn and Pete are a very special case to me. They didn't ask for help, neither did they ever ask whilst we were neighbours. Instead, they had put wheels in motion to organise the service that they could afford. Without going into detail, this was a non-attend cremation (feel free to google it, which I had to). There was no chance that I could let anyone, even an enemy, let alone someone who I care about, say their final goodbye to their only daughter in this way. That is my motivation and the reason I will continue to bombard anyone and everyone until we have achieved the sum we need to have the most basic attended cremation service.

<div>People have asked for some specifics regarding the funeral and costs. At the time of writing this, Tracey is still with the coroner which means a date cannot be arranged for her funeral. This will be updated as soon as we know more.

<div>We're collecting for our friends Beth and Jamjar, who just lost alot in a house fire, but their main priority is the health of their beautiful cat Meow, who took in alot of smoke and damage during the fire.

<div>Meow was rushed to an emergency vets overnight and unfortunately, that overnight care had over expensed their pet insurance.
</div>
<div>Meow is currently with a local vets who've explained they can only keep Meow in for a few more hours with the money that's left over, but Meow is in need of more tests and treatments due to the high risk of temporary or permeant brain damage, and the treatment/tests for those.
</div>

<div>The vets had quoted this to be between 3-6k, which along with everything else it's something that they just can't afford.
</div>

<div>We're hoping we can band together to reach atleast the 3,000 mark to help them out, as pet lovers ourselves it's heart breaking for us to witness.

Please help with Meow's Treatment

Vandalism at Barkby United Cricket Club <br /><br />It is with great shock &amp; sadness to report an act of vandalism to our club. On the morning of Sunday 18th June, it is believed that one, or more, individuals entered our Beeby Road ground, under the cover of darkness, and applied weed killer to our square, subsequently killing the grass. <br /><br />Barkby United have 3 Saturday teams, 2 Sunday teams, 1 midweek team &amp; Junior teams from U10's-U17's, all of which will have to find a new home for the remainder of the season. <br /><br />Whilst many unknowns remain, it is likely that 30-40 home games will have to be rearranged between now and the conclusion of the season. In order to repair the square, 30mm of topsoil will need to be replaced, followed by a complete re-sow of grass seed. Current estimates suggest a sum of £8,000 - 10,000 will be needed to complete this work. <br /><br />The true financial impacts of this situation are difficult to calculate and may only become apparent in the seasons to come. Loss of match-day earnings &amp; the cost of finding new home venues will be far from negligible. <br /><br />Barkby United are working with Leicestershire Police to further their investigations. Whilst CCTV evidence provides a promising starting point, we urge anyone who may have any knowledge of this incident to make themselves known to Leicestershire Police. <br /><br />Those who live within the Barkby, Barkby Thorpe, Beeby &amp; Scraptoft vicinity, we kindly ask that any Ring Doorbell or CCTV footage is checked between the hours of 01:00 &amp; 01:45, as we move towards identifying the vehicle involved in this crime. <br /><br />We also make a plea to anyone who drove through Barkby at this time, who may have seen activity at the Beeby Road ground, to come forward with any information. <br /><br />Barkby United Cricket Club is 173 years old; it is a special club which occupies a warm place in all our hearts. Whilst this will be a difficult time for the club, we are resolute and determined that this will bring the club closer together and we will emerge stronger on the other side. <br /><br />With the support and solidarity of the cricketing community, we aim to minimise the disruption to our season. Therefore, we make a plea to clubs who are able to host fixtures on our behalf, to please get in touch. <br /><br />To minimise the financial impacts of this incident, we are running a Go Fund Me campaign to help soften the blow and avoid further disruptions running into next season. <div>Hi, we are the family and friends of Levi Dewey. We are fundraising to help Levi walk again!

<div>Levi was a fit, fun, healthy 20 year old living his best life until the 7th of December 2022 when he was rushed into Royal Derby hospital suffering with breathing difficulties and flu like symptoms.


</div>



<div>His condition rapidly deteriorated as he went into septic shock and multi organ failure. The cause of this was later found to be Influenza B and Pneumococcal Pneumonia. 



</div>



<div>He continued to deteriorate on Derby ITU and was therefore transferred to Glenfield hospital in Leicester  to receive ECMO (Extracorporeal membrane oxygenation) and full organ support. The doctors said Levi was the sickest patient in the country at that time and was given less than a 30% chance of surviving. He was on the maximum support they could offer.

<div>Levi spent 20 days on ECMO, 14 of which he was in an induced coma, fighting this severe infection and the odds were very much against him. His organ support was gradually weaned and after 31 days he was taken off the ventilator and his body was no longer reliant on machines. 



</div>

<div>However he still now faces many challenges. 



</div>



<div>On the 9th January he was moved back to Derby for his ongoing care and on the 11th January Levi was informed that due to the severity of the sepsis, he requires bilateral below knee amputation of his legs. 



</div>



<div>The surgery is planned for the 24th of January….2 days before Levi turns 21 years old. 



</div>

<div>Despite this news, Levi remains optimistic about his future . He is so grateful to be alive after these life changing events.



</div>



<div>We want Levi to have the best possible quality of life as a double amputee and therefore want to raise money to help with his recovery and the move from hospital to home. 



</div>



<div>Later, once he has learnt to walk, we would like to provide him the best bespoke prosthetic legs so he is able to live as an independent life as possible, enjoying the many activities he did before this tragic event changed his life forever.
