Hi Everyone, Please allow us to introduce ourselves. Our team consists of Mr. Paul Newman and Mr. Mike Clarke Snr. Mr. Newman is a committed Champion at the Legend On The Bench Charity, while Mike Clarke Snr is a Disabled Veteran and Pensioner who also serves as a valued member of the team at Legend On The Bench Charity. https://www.legend-on-the-bench.co.uk/about-us/meet-the-team Mental health is an issue of significant importance to us, as one of our members, Mike, experienced Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) after dedicating nearly 25 years to service in the British Army. Fortunately, approximately eight years following his military retirement, he received essential support from the Combat Stress Charity, located in Leatherhead, Surrey. Paul has consistently advocated for the well-being of ex-service personnel and has actively participated in promoting mental health initiatives. He has also successfully raised funds to establish a suicide prevention bench in Bromley, Kent. We are raising funds to install a Self-illuminating, Suicide Help & Prevention Bench for Haslemere. The image in the post shows the 1st bench revealed at Sawbridgeworth in Hertfordshire. We raise funds for these amazing benches by making & selling beautiful therapeutic products with Warm Remedy, and Mike also raises funds by completing 10km Treks in his Wheelchair. We have just raised funds for the benches at Gostrey Meadow, Farnham and Church Gardens at Bromley in Kent. The benches have already helped people experiencing a Mental Health crisis, and the charity has revealed 161 to date. They are located all around the country and in Dublin in Ireland. Each bench glows in the darkness, and have a built-in generator on the back, to ensure that information and help are always visible; they really are a true beacon of light. Every donation, no matter how big or small is extremely important towards every bench we reveal. We will continue raising funds for our remaining years as we know how important help is to others. It provides essential assistance to both serving Armed Forces members and the broader community, distinguishing itself from other help websites by prioritising the needs of the military community rather than generating profit for its owners. Founded in 2016, Veterans In Need offers a comprehensive array of information, resources, and services tailored to the unique challenges faced by military veterans and their families. Additionally, it serves as a professional platform for businesses to connect with this community. As our society has experienced an increase in requests for assistance—particularly following the closure of the Government's "Veterans Gateway" platform on 30 September 2024—our team of dedicated volunteers continually strives to ensure that the information provided on the website remains current and accurate. I am currently seeking financial contributions to cover the annual costs and maintenance of the website. Over the past ten years, I have personally funded approximately £2,500 to support this initiative, including the costs incurred for the first four years and additional expenses for the upcoming year. The website receives a significant number of daily visitors and addresses requests for assistance from a diverse array of individuals, not limited to the military community.
