<div>Over three years ago I made the difficult decision to leave an abusive marriage - for my safety and for the well being of my children. Since then, I have been in an ongoing custody process to protect their stability and ensure their voices and needs are truly heard and seen. 
</div>

<div>Despite everything my children's lives continue to be shaped by a system that has not fully recognized their needs or what they have experienced. Key decisions have relied on a Guardian ad Litem whose involvement, unfortunately, did not reflect the level of care this situation requires. 
</div>

<div>Currently, the custody arrangement does not reflect what I believe is in the best interest of my children, and I am actively working to change that through the legal process.
</div>

</div>
<div>Over the last three years, with the help of my family, I have spent more than $30,000 in legal fees to keep showing up, advocating, and fighting for these kids. 
</div>

<div>Now, as we approach mediation and a possible trial, I have reached a point where I can no longer continue without support. 
</div>

<div>I am asking for help to cover ongoing legal fees such as retainer fees, mediation, a possible trial, and see this process through so I can remain a stable and consistent presence in my children's lives.

It means so much that you care about this project, that the music that I’ve been pouring my heart into for over three years matters and has a chance to live on in this world through the magic we make as a community.

<div>I'm Micaela Kingslight, a lifelong musician living on the Olympic Peninsula of Washington State. I’m here raising funds to be able to produce, record, mix, master, release and promote an album of original music that I truly feel is meant to help heal and bring people together to sing and create medicinal musical magic. These songs are inspired by nature, plant medicine, deep suffering and pain, healing and profound joy. They are prayers for the world and I hope will touch the hearts of those who need the medicine they carry.

<div>It’s a tricky time to be a full time musician and music teacher and I’ve struggled with needing to ask for help to make this dream a reality. In fact, I’ve made this fundraiser twice already and taken it down because I’m afraid to ask for so much. Yet, in order to make this happen it is important to make space and time to complete the process, not being in survival mode but feeling supported to create this work while being able to generously pay a producer, engineer, and my incredible musical friends to help bring it to the quality that is needed to be properly released.

<div>With a budget of $2,000 a song I can truly make each one shine with the polish that the music industry demands while staying true to the vision without stifling budget constraints that have made my recordings in the past miss the mark. I might even be able to record a couple bonus songs along the way if everything goes well!

<div>The plan is to release the album by late spring of 2024 along with a songbook and video lessons teaching each song through my website. This will allow the music to reach far and wide while making it possible to continue my work in the world as a community tender, energy worker, musician and teacher.
