 Lorraine, Meghan’s mother, is facing an incredibly difficult season after the passing of her husband, Richard, on February 17, 2026. At 77 years old, Lorraine is living on a very limited fixed income from Social Security and is also dealing with serious mobility challenges caused by chronic and degenerative conditions. After losing the person she shared more than 40 years of life with, Lorraine is now trying to remain in the home that she and Richard built together. That home is more than a place to live. It is where so many memories were made, and where Lorraine still feels close to Richard during this painful time of grief and adjustment.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The family is now carrying the heavy burden of <strong>$5,000 in cremation expenses that had to be charged to a credit card, along with $4,500 in property and school taxes and homeowner’s insurance on Lorraine’s home.</strong> Her devoted daughter, Meghan, is doing everything she can while having to maintain her own apartment an hour away for work. Lorraine's step children, Dana and Chelsea, and their families, have also done all they can to help alleviate these burdens, but rising costs are making it harder for them as well. These debts and expenses are so overwhelming that they will also make it much harder for Lorraine and Meghan to keep up with other basic needs like heating, electric, food, and medications. The burden of this loss and debt will reach into their first holiday season without Richard, making an already painful time even harder.

<div>

</div>
<div>
 <strong>Donations will help first by paying off the credit card used for Richard’s cremation and by covering Lorraine’s property and school taxes and homeowner’s insurance so she can stay in the home she built with her late husband.</strong> This fundraiser is not for Meghan. It is for <strong>Lorraine, so she can remain in the beautiful and peaceful home that holds Richard’s memory.</strong> If you are able, please help support Lorraine and help keep Richard’s memory alive inside the home they built together.

Honoring Richard by Helping Lorraine Stay in Their Home

I never thought I would need to create a GoFundMe, but here I am, asking for help. My name is donald, and I am 66 years old and living with a disability that has changed every part of my life. In 1977, I was diagnosed with a cyst in my cervical spine that was damaging the nerve connections between my brain and muscles. I had surgery to relieve the pressure, but it was not successful, and my condition continued to progress over the years. Eventually, I had to stop working. Today, I cannot walk without a walker, and I have very limited use of my hands. My medical file describes my condition as incomplete quadriplegia.
<br>
<br>
 The reason I am reaching out is because my bathtub and shower setup has become dangerous for me. Getting in and out is frightening, and I have already fallen multiple times. About a year and a half ago, I fell and broke five ribs. More recently, I fell again and may have suffered a slight concussion. Because my one usable arm is too weak, I cannot catch myself when I fall. I simply cannot afford to replace my bathtub with a safe, accessible shower on my own.
<br>
<br>
 Your support would help me make this necessary change to my home so I can bathe safely and reduce the risk of more injuries. I am humbly asking for any donation you can give. If you are not able to donate, please consider sharing my fundraiser. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for your kindness, support, and prayers.

Help Donald Get a Safe Accessible Shower

<div>Dear BluFriends and Supporters,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>BluSeed is in a dire financial situation and we need your help.
</div>
<div>Over the past few years we have received several grants for programs such as ceramics wheel classes for kids, Cinematastic Kids Movie and Art nights, Sober Open Minded-Mics, Trash Couture, Spring Break classes, year long artist in residency program, etc. Plus several grants for capital projects for the regrading of our parking lot to mitigate building flooding, new bike racks, gas kiln shed, building signage, outdoor pavilion, new gallery lighting, a new stage, new flooring, etc. These grants have helped us move forward leaps and bounds, but what none of these do is pay for our mortgage, heating, water, sewer, insurance, electricity, phone, internet, etc. These bills in total for our 7500 square foot building come out to just about $5000.00 per month all year long. We cannot continue with our programming without these bills being paid. We are working on a new vision for how we run our programming and a new fundraising plan for the new year, BUT we need to get through this year first. We are looking to raise $40,000.00 to get us to January. This money will go directly to paying these monthly bills and give us some breathing room to make our changes for financial sustainability.
</div>
<div>If we do not raise this money, BluSeed's power will turn off and we will have to close our doors next month.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please consider what BluSeed means to you and our community, help us keep our doors open!
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Sincerely,

Hey, my name is Delaney Vandergrift and I am a student organizer in North Carolina. I'm a rising junior political science student at the illustrious North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University. Recently, I was selected to be an intern at the African American Policy Forum (<a href="http://www.aapf.org" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.aapf.org</a>) in Atlanta, GA. I'm super excited to learn, organize, and grow with the guidance of some of my organizing idols. <br /><br />I'm calling on my organizing community to help me with some of my expenses. I will have to find somewhere to live from June-August while paying off the rest of my lease in Greenboro, NC. <br /><br />Please share within your networks. <br /><br />&lt;3
