This has been a very sudden, hard time in my world.

My name is Tiffany Rea-Fisher, and I am a proud, home-owning Adirondacker. I work full-time as the Director of the Adirondack Diversity Initiative.

My beautiful home, my sanctuary, in Saranac Lake, has recently been destroyed and become uninhabitable.

I have always been a conscientious homeowner, especially when leaving the house on its own, for any reason, even for a short period of time. However, in a terrible turn of events, while I was briefly away for these recent winter holidays, the heat in my home quit and a pipe burst, leading to incredibly damaging first-floor and basement flooding, as well as to multi-floor radiator explosions.

Because of this, nearly all of my flooring must be ripped up, and multiple walls and ceilings broken down and torn out, all throughout the house. Then, of course, it has to be put back together again to make the house livable in any way, shape, or form.

In further unconscionable and devastating news, insurance has denied my claim, refusing to cover any costs at all to install the required brand new heating system, let alone to deconstruct, and restore and repair, my entire home.

I am not one to ask for help. This feels very difficult to write.

But after a lot of deep thought, and after several amazing Adirondack neighbors, coworkers, and friends suggested this, I have decided to try to raise money through the help of our incredible, tight-knit community so that I can try to cover a portion of the overwhelming costs, thus being able to begin to process all of this, and initiate the work to mitigate and restore my sanctuary.
