<p>For those of us who had the pleasure of working with <strong>Julie Miller Weber</strong> at CNN.com, we know she was often the glue holding our colorful, crazy work family together.  <br /><br /><strong>Now let's be there for her.</strong> Julie was diagnosed with breast cancer earlier this year. Initially, her surgeon thought she would only need a quick bout of radiation and be done. As it turns out, she needed more chemotherapy as a preventative treatment due to one risky marker. 
</p>

<p><strong>There is a silver lining in all of this.</strong> Julie is expected to make a full recovery. She's currently undergoing chemo treatments and her sister says she's doing well. As you know, chemotherapy is just the beginning for many breast cancer survivors and it can take some people a while to get back to a "new normal." 
</p>

<p><strong>Here's where our CNN.com family comes in.</strong> We'd like to make life a little easier for Julie,  her husband John and their three boys while she's undergoing treatment and healing.
</p>

<p><strong>We greatly appreciate donations</strong> of any amount so we can send Julie gift cards for grocery + food delivery or Amazon, Target and Wal-Mart.

<p>My cousin, Malissa Cheatom, was diagnosed with breast cancer the week before Thanksgiving. She will be unable to work for up to 20 weeks, following a double mastectomy in mid-January 2019 and pending clinical results and treatment. <br /><br />As a working mom of two college-age children, the loss of income and inability to support her household and cover expenses during her recovery could be devastating. Those of us who know Malissa, have seen her touch and brighten so many lives with her kindness, compassion, faith and sense of humor. She has a million-watt smile and lights up any room she walks into. <br /><br />Over the past several years, she has overcome the sudden loss of her father and battled her own significant health obstacles such as lupus, chronic bronchitis and pneumonia. Still, she has powered through each of these challenges with her grace, strength and determination to never to give up. <br /><br />Malissa is a true survivor and when faced with steep challenges, she always fights back! Her spirit is strong and she's determined to beat breast cancer. Leading up to her double-mastectomy, she is completing tech certifications and kickboxing at <a href="https://grimesgateway.extremebodyshaping.com">Farrel's gym</a>  where she's developed a network of amazing sister-friends. <br /><br />On behalf of her family and friends, I am opening this GoFundMe page to help support Malissa while she's recovering and unable to earn an income. <div><strong>Help Nigel Attend YMCA's Two-Week Camp This Summer!</strong>

<div><strong>Nigel has an opportunity to attend a two-week overnight camp </strong>with the YMCA of Greater Chicago, from July 6 - July 18. He participated last year and once before Covid. Unfortunately, this year I'm unable financially to send him after losing my job last June.
</div>

</div>
<div>I<strong>t's never been easy for me to ask for help, but this is different. </strong>When it comes to my son, I will do anything to ensure Nigel has the opportunities and experiences that stimulate his curiosity, allow him to explore, meet people, open his mind and enrich his life.
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Nigel is a super smart, funny, thoughtful and intellectually curious 12-year-old who loves new adventures, meeting new people and being active outdoors. </strong>It also gives him time to bond with other males his age and the amazing camp counselors from local universities and colleges around the world!
</div>

</div>
<div><strong>Y Camp is something he looks forward to all year long.</strong> Last summer he made so many friends and they've kept in touch. Several are coming back and they'll be cabinmates this summer! :-))

<div><strong>For two weeks, he'll live in a cabin with about 12 boys.</strong> The campgrounds are beautiful and lush. It sits on a lake surrounded by lots of tall trees, giant evergreens and wildlife about 60 minutes north of Chicago.

<div>The campers wake at sunrise and spend the entire day outdoors fishing, canoeing, swimming, rock climbing, playing games, learning archery, fencing and outdoor survival skills. After breaks for lunch and dinner, they shower and settle into their cabins to wind down, read and talk major trash before it's lights out at 10pm.

<div><strong>It's hot, humid, dirty, buggy, stinky and exhausting and Nigel LOVES every single minute!</strong>

<div>I have applied for a partial scholarship, however, not much funding is available, if any, this close to camp. We won't know until 1-2 days before camp starts if he will receive anything.
</div>
