My name is Mick Antoniw. I have recently retired from elected office, having been the Member of Senedd (Welsh Parliament) since 2011. Alongside other Senedd Members under the 'Senedd 4 Ukraine' banner (and with significant support from Trade Unions, businesses and private individuals), we have now made 15 trips to Ukraine, delivering a total of 55 pick-up vehicles and well over £1million worth of urgent front-line supplies and medical equipment to Ukrainians defending their country. The media focus on Ukraine has gone quiet, but the Russian attacks on Ukraine escalate. As the world looks away, schools, hospitals and homes are being targeted. We support the first responders, rescuers and those on the front line. We are planning to deliver more vehicles and equipment: power banks, medical kit, protective clothing, and other urgent supplies. We need to raise £20,000 to get these vehicles to Ukraine. We are half way there but need another twenty thousand pounds to drive to Kyiv. Our volunteer drivers from Wales , England and America pay all their own costs, so every penny raised goes direct to Ukraine. I'm Mick, a second-generation Ukrainian. We are now approaching the fourth anniversary of the invasion of Ukraine, and I want to continue fundraising to make the lives of the people who are defending democracy and their homeland a little easier. Since the invasion I have been involved in significant fundraising efforts to take vehicles and aid to Ukraine, assisting with humanitarian efforts. As I am not seeking re-election to the Member of Senedd for Pontypridd, I am holding a one-off fundraising evening to both mark the end of my time as MS, and to raise much-needed funds for humanitarian aid. The money raised will be distributed by myself to existing efforts to support the humanitarian cause in Ukraine.
