On Christmas Eve, my dog Brutus was bitten by another dog, and what started as a simple puncture wound quickly turned into a much more serious situation. The wound became infected and an abscess formed, so the vet had to install two drains to help him heal. After the drains were removed, Brutus’s chest had been through so much trauma that the tissue started dying and falling off. The only way to help him recover is surgery to remove the dead tissue and stitch him back up, but the cost is more than I can afford right now. Brutus has come a long way since the initial infection. For several days, I had to syringe feed him, then hand feed him, and now he’s finally eating and drinking on his own again. Despite everything, he’s still his sweet self—wanting to go on walks and acting as normal as possible, even with his chest injury. It’s been heartbreaking to watch him go through this, but I’m determined to do everything I can to help him heal. I’m asking for help to cover the cost of Brutus’s surgery and ongoing care. Any support you can give means the world to us. Thank you for reading our story and for caring about Brutus’s recovery.
