On Thursday evening around 5:30 p.m., our beautiful Momma, Becky Brooks, was driving home to Craig from Denver through Rabbit Ears Pass when she was senselessly struck in a head-on collision. She passed away from the impact of the crash. We are heartbroken and still facing so many unanswered questions as we try to process this unimaginable loss.
Becky was the most loving, giving, and beautiful soul. If you knew her, you were loved by her. She had a rare and special way of connecting with people — she could skip past the small talk and go straight to the heart. She made everyone feel seen, heard, and valued. Her passion for helping others was unstoppable. After the loss of our Damien, she poured her heart even more deeply into serving those fighting for sobriety. She worked at the BAART clinic in Brighton, Colorado, right after she lost her grandson Damien Mykal at the beginning of 2022. She shared her story of her grandson with all who needed to hear it. She treated her clients like family, and if they needed encouragement, she was there. She stayed with BAART until the end of 2024, then transferred to D.R.G. Denver Recovery Group at their downtown clinic on 13th and Shoshone. She was really close with the Sober Souls Club members and loved working with them as well. She truly loved the work she did for her people at her clinics. She was driving home that night to be there for the clinic she worked so hard to open and run in Craig, Colorado — The Denver Group. She had been there 3 months and had 7 clients. She was brought flowers by one who had no idea of her passing. Her dedication to her clients was unwavering, and the countless messages we’ve received from people sharing how she helped save their lives are a testament to her impact. Many have told us that without her love and care, they would not have made it. She loved them more than most of their families did. That is who she was.
Food was her love language. She made sure you never left her home with an empty stomach. She was the best cook — and we will miss her biscuits and gravy more than words can say. She would give you her last dollar if you needed it. Her generosity knew no limits. We are grateful for any support you can offer as we honor Becky's memory and try to find our way forward. Your kindness means so much to us during this heartbreaking time.
