 HELP SIMONA REPAIR AND REBUILD BLACK SPRING BOOKS
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Our beloved Black Spring Books flooded. The shop has become a cornerstone of our NYC/BK writing and reading community, due entirely to the vision, generosity, and tireless work of Simona Blatt, who created the warmest bookstore, event space, living room, backyard, and second home for so many.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 The flash floods on July 18th left the basement of the shop wrecked, and inventory destroyed.

<div>
 BSB needs our help to repair what was damaged and lost in this storm, and also to fortify against future flooding. We are living climate change and the floods will come again.

 Please share far and wide to help one of our best community bookstores stay safe, now and long into the future.

Rebuild Black Spring Books After Flood Damage

<div>Dear Friends, Family and Co-workers,

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>This past week, a devastating fire tore through the Palisades, leaving my boss, Peter Standish, and his family with nothing. They lost their home, their belongings, and everything they worked so hard to build. As we all know, no one ever expects a tragedy like this, and the emotional and financial toll is unimaginable.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Peter is not only a dedicated professional but also a loving husband, father, and friend. He has always been someone who helps others in their times of need, whether through work, community involvement, or just being there when someone needs a hand. Now, it’s our turn to help him and his family during this incredibly difficult time.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>The fire has left them displaced, without basic essentials, and struggling to begin the long and uncertain road of rebuilding. They need immediate support for temporary housing, replacing lost belongings, and rebuilding the foundation of their lives.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div><strong>How You Can Help</strong>: I've set up this GoFundMe page to assist Peter and his family in their recovery. Any amount you can contribute will make a meaningful difference. Even if you're unable to donate, please consider sharing this page with your network to help spread the word.

</div>

<div><br />

</div>

<div>Thank you so much for your kindness, compassion, and support during this challenging time. Together, we can help Peter and his family heal and begin to rebuild their lives.

Help Peter Standish Get Back on His Feet

<div>My dad, Landon Neustadt, known to many as Mr. Neustadt, suffered a massive heart attack on Saturday, November 11th. After being on life support in the ICU and hospitalized for over a month, his road to recovery and rehabilitation will be long, difficult, and costly. I know how much of an impact he had on the lives of many students, friends, and colleagues, and I am humbly asking for your support during this difficult time. I took an undetermined amount of time off work to be by his side in San Luis Obispo and care for his dog Bailey. Any funds raised will go directly toward his medical, living, and rehabilitation expenses over the coming months.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please feel free to leave messages for him on the caring bridge site that I’ve linked below. I can’t tell you how much I appreciate the continued support, thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Mr. Neustadt

Ryan is a great friend to so many of us. Ryan has more than likely entered and impacted your lives through music; As a member of the bands Landmine Marathon, Unruh, Northside Kings and many more, he has released music to critical acclaim, toured the world and established countless lifelong friendships. As the owner and engineer of Arcane Digital recording studio, he produced, engineered, mixed and mastered an impressive catalog of music that fills our record collections. From local bands recording their first demo to international acts recording major album releases, Ryan’s passion and relentless dedication to properly capturing the artists’ creation was unparalleled.

Ryan is entering the long homestretch of the fight for his life. In 2019, Ryan was diagnosed with Wilson’s Disease; this is the same disease that took his mother’s life. Wilson’s Disease an extremely rare, inherited disease that causes excessive copper to accumulate in the liver. Unfortunately the disease has progressed to the point where liver failure is inevitable. Luckily, Ryan was recently put on the list for a liver transplant. The transplant will eradicate the disease and return Ryan to a much more normal way of life. We expect a suitable donor organ to be found very soon (weeks or months).

Knowing that these are both financially and emotionally stressful times for all of us, we are humbly reaching out to our strong and powerful community and extended family to help offset some of the overwhelming financial impact of the journey of healing that Ryan is taking on. Graciously donated funds will be utilized for the abundance of medical bills already accumulated, as well as future bills. Once Ryan receives the transplant, he will be unable to work for 6-12 months. When he returns to work, it may be in a limited capacity. Funds will also be utilized to assist with cost of living expense.

We are starting this fundraiser with a $20,000 goal, but the goal will likely increase as financial needs increase

Any and all contributions are greatly appreciated. Reaching out to our community to ask for help is no easy task. We love and appreciate you all.

Updates will follow as the become available, leading up to the transplant and through the recovery.

Thank you.
