Live Jam for Machaela and Her Boys

Last night (Oct 17) a  fire and high winds caused an immediate evacuation in SharpHill.  My parents live in the area, so we tried to get a close as we could,  we were able to get a clear view of their home and could see that the  fire was blowing directly towards their house. While we watched and prayed, we got a call that our friends house, not far from my parents home was consumed by the fire. A few minutes later the winds shifted, rerouting the fire away from SharpHill.  Everyone got out of the area without injuries but our friends ( The Smiths) with three kids (16,14,12) lost their home, business, vehicles and beloved dogs., leaving them with only the clothes on their backs, it's tragic and devastating.  Today they are without the simplest of things, like underwear, toothbrushes, clothes and shoes. It's hard to know what we can do in a time of crisis,  but we hope to at least help them with the essentials, like food, clothing, shoes <br /><br />and maybe more. Please join us in supporting this Amazing family.<br /><br /><br />UPDATE <br /><br />The Airdrie community is so giving! Wow, it is beautiful to see. There has been so much support and generosity for the Smith family. <br /><br />Huge amounts of financial support has been donated on 'go fund me', as well as other donations given, such as clothing.<br /><br />Meals Made Easy is a local establishment that provides healthy and fresh meals. They approached us FOR EVERY DONATION GIVEN TOWARDS A MEAL, THEY WILL DONATE AN ADDITIONAL MEAL to the Smith family. Gift cards can be purchased through their website or in person at #2, 704 Main Street SE Airdrie.<br />A donation tracking sheet has been started so please indicate that it is for the Smith family. <br /><a href="http://www.mealsmadeeasy.ca" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">http://www.mealsmadeeasy.ca</a><br /><br />Due to the current living situation of the Smith family, we ask at this time donations be made through gift cards, the 'go fund me' page and Meals Made Easy.<br /><br />Thank you Airdrie!

Sharp Hill home destroyed in fire

Katie Pearn

<div>Hi, my name is Katie Pearn, and I’m setting up this fundraiser for my beloved sister, Veronica Hooper, to support her incredible daughter Evie as she bravely faces cancer yet again.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Another Battle</strong>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Our beautiful Evie is facing something no 17-year-old should ever have to: her third battle with cancer. This time, it is a rare and aggressive bone cancer called osteosarcoma.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>This devastating diagnosis came just days after she graduated from high school in June. What should have been a summer of celebration and dreaming about the future has instead become a fight for her life, filled with hospital stays, intensive chemotherapy, and an upcoming major surgery. Her treatment will last well into 2026.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Evie is brave, grounded, and quietly powerful. She has endured more in her young life than most people ever will, yet she remains a light to those around her—joyful, full of faith, and fiercely determined.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Her loving family is doing everything they can to support her, but the emotional and financial strain is immense. This fund will help cover many of the costs that come with long-term treatment, including:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>• Unpaid time off work for caregiving
</div>
<div>• Travel and parking for hospital visits
</div>
<div>• Medications not covered by insurance
</div>
<div>• Medical supplies, hospital meals, and home care
</div>
<div>• Support to ensure her parents can be by her side throughout
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your donation, in any amount, will help ease the burden and remind Evie that she is deeply loved and never alone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>

</div>
<div>Thank you for keeping her and our family in your thoughts and prayers, and for sharing this campaign with others. Every gift and every gesture matters.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With deepest gratitude.
