<div>
 Hi! This is Sarah and Paul from the Best Bookstore in Palm Springs.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Our awesome neighbors, Jeff and Albert from Gallivant, had a CAR drive into their store, smashing through their windows, and leaving their store in absolute shambles on Saturday October 3!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 They are both very shaken, but, miraculously, no one was hurt!!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 However, anyone who has owned a small business in Palm Springs knows that this is a VITAL time to recoup the losses from summer. There is no business that can afford to lose even a day of sales right now-- let alone-- shoulder the additional costs of repairing a store that is suddenly covered in shattered glass.
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 When someone sabotaged our air conditioner last summer, Jeff, Albert, and the entire Palm Springs community was there for us, and we want to make sure we are there for them in what must be a terrifying time!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Can you pitch anything in to help them rebuild? I'm sure ANYTHING you could pitch in would help them tremendously!
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 Thank you, Palm Springs!!

Help Jeff and Albert Repair Gallivant After the Crash

My name is Guy Schwartz, and I have known and worked with Roger Tausz for more than fifty years. He has been my bass player, recording engineer, producer, musical partner and one of my closest friends for most of my adult life. Last winter, Roger and I were both preparing for shoulder surgery. I needed a complete shoulder replacement, and Roger had a torn rotator cuff that needed to be repaired. Before either one of us could be cleared for surgery, the doctors had to make sure that a couple of old men like us could withstand it. During Roger’s testing, they discovered a mass in his lung. That mass turned out to be non-small cell lung cancer, involving an area in and around a nearby lymph node. Instead of getting his shoulder repaired, Roger began chemotherapy. Roger is not much of a numbers guy, and he is even less comfortable asking people for help. When this started, he insisted that he would be able to handle everything himself. I suggested several times that he let me put together a GoFundMe page, but he did not think it would be necessary.
<br>
<br>
 For a while, it looked as though he might be right. After the doctors adjusted a few things to help with some of the smaller side effects, Roger began tolerating chemotherapy better than many people do. He has not suffered from the crippling nausea or complete loss of appetite that people often associate with chemotherapy. But that does not mean he has been doing well. He has been extremely weak. He has had a very hard time sleeping. His memory has become unreliable, and he has increasing trouble putting things in order and keeping track of what needs to be done. Roger has always been a little bit of a spaceman. That is part of Roger. Unfortunately, chemotherapy has not improved the navigation system. Because of the weakness, exhaustion and memory problems, Roger did not fully recognize how much financial trouble was building around him. A car payment here, a medical deductible there, regular household expenses and all the other costs that do not stop just because somebody has cancer began adding up. He kept getting a little too broke before the next Social Security check arrived. Then he got further behind. By the time he realized how serious the situation had become, he had lost his car. That finally got his attention.
<br>
<br>
 The good news is that Roger’s cancer appears to be shrinking. The next step will be radiation or surgery to remove what remains, while he continues chemotherapy and then begins recovering from whichever course his doctors determine is best. The bad news is that he has reached this next stage without reliable transportation and without the financial cushion he needs to get through treatment and recovery. We are raising funds to help Roger recover or replace reliable transportation so he can get to treatment and medical appointments, catch up on essential household bills and expenses that fell behind during chemotherapy, pay medical deductibles, copayments and related treatment expenses, cover food, utilities and basic living costs while weakness and memory problems limit how much he can work, and keep his recording studio operating so that he can continue earning money and working when his health allows it.
<br>
<br>
 Let’s help keep Roger alive, working and making music.

<div>On Facebook, Dalton wrote:

<div>"Christmas Eve was not what I had envisioned it to be. Park St. John, where I live, had a fire that destroyed 5 or 6 condos, one of which was mine. The main issue was the difficulty finding the source of the fire. Originally, the main issue that had caused extensive damage to our units was smoke and water. A bit later, a flare-up occurred between the upstairs unit and my unit, and putting the fire out caused a huge amount of additional damage. It appears the contents are a total loss. But as difficult as this is, we will maintain a positive attitude and keep right on moving forward."
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We created this fundraiser to help Dalton get back on his feet as quickly as possible. He lost everything he owned in his condo, including all of his personal belongings, in addition to a lifetime of memories and antiques. Dalton’s insurance will most likely replace the big-ticket items, but we are asking for donations to help him quickly furnish a new home while his condo is being rebuilt.

<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you are in a position to help, we would greatly appreciate your donation. Any unused funds will be donated to the Dalton DeHart Photographic Foundation, which continues to document our community history through photography. </div>
<div>Additional in-person fundraisers, organized in partnership with Houston's leading LGBTQ organizations to help Dalton with his re-homing expenses, will be held in the coming months.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dalton has always donated his time and talents to help many community organizations. He’s not usually one to ask for help, but right now, he could use our assistance.

<div>Thank you in advance for your generous donations.

Dalton DeHart Home Fire Recovery Fundraiser

<div>On Sunday, 13th November 2022, Francisco “Pancho” Guzman’s truck was stolen from the parking lot at Lowe’s in Palm Springs. His old truck contained several thousand dollars’ worth of tools. In the space of ten minutes, his ability to earn an income was severely diminished. The Police have written a report, but the likelihood of recovering these items is low.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Update 11/18/22:</strong> We are closing this GoFundMe this morning as sufficient funds have been raised to replace the stolen tools - and to put some gas in the recovered truck! Francisco sends his sincere thanks for all the support the community has shown. He is shocked and humbled at the level of generosity and wishes everyone a Happy Thanksgiving. As the organizer, I would like to thank all the donors for supporting a hard-working and honest local handyman/landscaper. Special thanks to The Palm Springs Post for their help in raising awareness and pushing donations into overdrive. Thank you all.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><strong>Update</strong>: With the help of the community, Francisco's truck was located, and the occupants were detained by the Police. Francisco now has possession of his truck, but as expected, his tools are gone and must be replaced.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Hi, my name is Michael, and I have been a client of Francisco Guzman in the greater Palm Springs area for more than five years. Francisco has assisted with many home improvement projects, from landscape work such as new block walls and concrete pathways to irrigation systems and tree planting or trimming. Francisco has developed a sizeable clientele throughout the Coachella Valley, doing everything from roof repairs to shower tiling to yard work. As is typical, Francisco was working on a Sunday when this crime occurred – he was inside the store buying materials for a client project.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I have set up this fundraiser in the hope that some of Francisco's clients can each help a little bit to get him back on his feet. All proceeds will be paid to Francisco.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any help you can provide, no matter how small, would be appreciated.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you

Please help replace Francisco's stolen tools.

<div>Our beloved hair team member, Kaila, experienced a fire at her home on Wednesday. She lost a lot of her belongings and is currently staying in a hotel. She needs to find a new apartment and can use our help, however big or small. Please give whatever you can!

<div>This is my buddy Charlie, a 5 year old parti poodle that belongs to my good friends Carlos and Teddy. Last week Charlie was diagnosed with an abscess on his spleen and needs to have it removed. The veterinarian said that it is urgent since, if the abscess ruptures, Charlie could bleed to death internally. On the plus side, if Charlie can have his spleen removed then he is likely to go on to live a normal, healthy life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Carlos and Teddy have already spent close to $3,000 on the visit to the vet and the lab work and tests. The estimate for the spleen removal is $10,000 to $12,000. This amount is way beyond what Carlos and Teddy can scrape up on their own in a very short amount of time. So, I created this page on their behalf to hopefully help them come up with the funds necessary for Charlie's surgery. Anything you can give, any amount, will help. Any funds raised beyond what is needed for the surgery will be donated to Animal Samaritans.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Please join me in helping Charlie, Carlos and Teddy right now when they need it most.

<p>Our orginization Works hard to suppport Bayou Animal Services. We are a financial resource from animal medical needs to operational needs. We do our best to support our shelter in order to keep them functioning to keep the animals happy and healthy.

</p>
<p>Every year, I try to support Bayou Animal Services in honor of my daughter, Kimberly. She was a victim in the Santa Fe HS school shooting and she LOVED cats. Her birthday falls towards the end of "kitten season" at the shelter. This has been an especially rough summer for the shelter, and several cats had to be sadly put to sleep.
</p>
<p><br />
</p>
<p>Kimberly would be 18 this year, and I want to really do something awesome for the shelter and raise $1,800. This would mean so much to them. Animals could be spayed or neutered, food purchased, etc.

Houston based soul singer Cecil Shaw, whose Dad was Ray Charles favorite singer, has had two strokes very recently and has limited use of his entire right side, unable to walk and hardly able to talk muchless sing. We are trying to raise enough money for Cecil to give him a fighting chance to get healthy and able to one day entertain us with his powerful and beautiful voice. The funds you give will help pay for his modest rent and living expenses while he is on the mend. Please give what you can and share with others who might care to help this man who often on stage helping others with their causes. Cecil Shaw Needs Our Help

Hurricane Sally blew ashore along coastal Alabama and Florida's Panhandle as a Category 2 early on Wednesday. In Orange Beach, coastal neighborhoods are still covered by water hours after the storm. Our friend and colleague, Colette Hailey, had to leave her home and find shelter with a friend to ride out the storm out of harm's way. Fortunately, Colette is safe, but her house is completely flooded and will need a lot of work before it is inhabitable once again. Please consider donating  to this fund. All funds will go towards helping Colette cover insurance, restoration and housing costs while she's getting back on her feet. Anything you can give will be greatly appreciated!<br /><br />For those of you who don't know me, my name is Leah Sokolowsky and I am a friend of Colette's. I met Colette over twenty years ago and have had the pleasure of working with her on numerous films and TV shows that have filmed here in South Florida. I consider her a dear friend and mentor.

Please help save the ICONIC QUE SERA. The “Que” has been an integral institution in our city for more than 40 years where we have offered young and old talent a space to share their creative genius.  It has come to the point that we need to lean on you for financial support during these trying times. All donations regardless of the amount are sincerely appreciated as we try to weather this unfortunate public health crisis.  <br /><br />For those of you that don't know the Que has been closed since March 15, 2020.  Ilse or "Benz" to most of you, recently joined the Long Beach Bar Coalition.   In a Zoom call with the mayor two weeks ago it became very clear that the bars will be in the final reopening phase.  No timeline or even a "guess" was provided.  "The decision will rest with the state, county and the city health department."  Benz does not anticipate being able to reopen until the spring.  <br /><br />Benz has been associated with the Que since 1978 and purchased it with her partner in 1996.  After many sleepless nights and a lot of self talk Benz has decided that "the shows must go on" and instead of closing the Que she is now doing everything in her power to "Save The Que."<br /><br />All donations will be used to pay the following expenses:<br /><br />- Rent Payments<br />- Business Insurance <br />- Utilities<br />- Licenses Fee and Permits - Yes the city and state still want these fees even though we can't operate<br />- Reopening Expenses - masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and signage and whatever else the health department requires<br />- Replacement Inventory<br /><br />PLEASE NOTE:  Any donations collected and not needed should we be able to open sooner will be returned to the donors on a prorated basis.  Reopening would require the Que to operate at 100% capacity and not a "soft" reopening or reduced capacity.<br /><br />We are truly grateful for every penny that we can raise and above all we want everyone to stay safe and healthy.  We can't wait for the day that we can see you all in person and share a drink,  tell our stories and listen to some amazing music whether it's DJs spinning, live bands performing, our comedy club and last but not least our pole dancers.<br /><br />Sincerely,<br />Benz and Pam

Save The Que

For starters I want to thank everyone that has helped us get through these hard times. So many people love Pearl and that means the world to me. It took me twenty-four years to make this dream come true.<br /><br />Since the beginning of the pandemic I have tried to follow our local government's guidelines and do what's right for our community. I chose not to open in the hopes that this virus would slow down by June, but unfortunately that did not happen. I have taken out personal loans, business loans and made business changes that I felt would help Pearl thrive in the long run. My landlords are helping as much as they can, but they have rental income that they depend on. I believe it will take months to get back to even half of what Pearl once was, and that is going to make things harder for us in the future. <br /><br />Selling shirts and food to go is not going to help us stay afloat for too long. Our customer base is spread out over fifty miles and people aren't driving to Pearl just to get food. Many people have supported us and we are grateful for each of you, but we will not survive on just doing food.<br /><br />Our bills are running about $12,000 a month with:<br /><br />Rent (my landlord discounted for three months)<br />Electricity<br />Insurance<br />Sales Tax<br />Water<br />Pest Control<br />Trash<br /><br /><br />I don't like asking for help, but Pearl is my life. This is the last thing I wanted to do because I'm a prideful person (pun intended) but I want to make sure there is a lesbian bar open in Houston after we survive this pandemic.  Thank you for taking the time to read this. <br /><br />Julie

<p>So not sure how to edit all of this  but here we goAs you all know my Brother has Lost  his battle with COVID on July 28, 2020 Leaving behind his 13-year-old daughter and his mother. We are now unfortunately trying to help raise money to pay for funeral costs and expenses. Any little bit will help. Thank you so much for all your generosity you’ve shown all the prayers, and all the love. Any little bit will help whether it’s $1, $5 or $10  Everything is going directly to the funeral cost, and the family. Again everything is greatly appreciated. ❤️❤️
</p>

<p><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As you all know my Brother was Diagnosed with COVID-19 and went into the hospital on June 27. He was Good in the beginning but as time with the virus increased so did his symptoms.  He is a diabetic and on dialysis.  So the virus hits his body a little Harder than the rest of us.  He is a Single Dad to my beautiful God baby and beyond  an Awesome Dad. He Encourages, and pushes his daughter to do great in softball. Goes out of his way to make sure that she has everything she needs and wants. Anybody that knows him knows he’s always the life of the party and tries to make everybody smile and laugh. He’s silly, goofy, lovable and makes you feel comfortable and always try’s to stay positive in every situation  But right now he is in ICU At South East Memorial Hermann. And when he text me the other day it broke my heart because I’ve never seen him scared. And now He is on a ventilator and in a Medical induced coma. He is on 80% oxygen, and is about to get put into a paralytic state for the next 2-3 days. I know the medical bills will be going up along with all the bills at home. I know there are a lot of loved ones that want to help But are not close by.  So I am setting up this go fund me to help with anything possible. Anybody that knows my brother knows he’s the first one to always help other people and go out of his way to do whatever he can for anybody he loves. So at this point any little thing will help. I thank everybody from the bottom of my heart For all the Love and Prayers that have came our way. At this point all we can do is have faith in God and continue to pray. We can’t be next to him holding his hand, and unfortunately we can’t take this virus away. I know my God is big and he’s in control. But I also know his daughter misses him so very much along with his mom. And it breaks my heart to see both of them hurting. So I would like to thank you in advance for anything you can help with along with all the Prayers. <img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/49625850_1594691689955217_r.jpeg" alt="49625850_1594691689955217_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/49625850_1594691723985682_r.jpeg" alt="49625850_1594691723985682_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/49625850_1594691738340959_r.jpeg" alt="49625850_1594691738340959_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/49625850_1594691796321618_r.jpeg" alt="49625850_1594691796321618_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />

Help my Brother Tudy

Not many of you may know my friend Lee, but for those of you who may know he is an amazing, strong, and caring individual.
