<div>"Christmas Eve was not what I had envisioned it to be. Park St. John, where I live, had a fire that destroyed 5 or 6 condos, one of which was mine. The main issue was the difficulty finding the source of the fire. Originally, the main issue that had caused extensive damage to our units was smoke and water. A bit later, a flare-up occurred between the upstairs unit and my unit, and putting the fire out caused a huge amount of additional damage. It appears the contents are a total loss. But as difficult as this is, we will maintain a positive attitude and keep right on moving forward."

He lost everything he owned in his condo, including all of his personal belongings, in addition to a lifetime of memories and antiques. Dalton’s insurance will most likely replace the big-ticket items, but we are asking for donations to help him quickly furnish a new home while his condo is being rebuilt.

Dalton DeHart Home Fire Recovery Fundraiser

<div>On Sunday, 13th November 2022, Francisco “Pancho” Guzman’s truck was stolen from the parking lot at Lowe’s in Palm Springs. His old truck contained several thousand dollars’ worth of tools. In the space of ten minutes, his ability to earn an income was severely diminished. The Police have written a report, but the likelihood of recovering these items is low.

Francisco has assisted with many home improvement projects, from landscape work such as new block walls and concrete pathways to irrigation systems and tree planting or trimming. Francisco has developed a sizeable clientele throughout the Coachella Valley, doing everything from roof repairs to shower tiling to yard work. As is typical, Francisco was working on a Sunday when this crime occurred – he was inside the store buying materials for a client project.

<div>This is my buddy Charlie, a 5 year old parti poodle that belongs to my good friends Carlos and Teddy.  Last week Charlie was diagnosed with an abscess on his spleen and needs to have it removed.  The veterinarian said that it is urgent since, if the abscess ruptures, Charlie could bleed to death internally.  On the plus side, if Charlie can have his spleen removed then he is likely to go on to live a normal, healthy life.

<div>Carlos and Teddy have already spent close to $3,000 on the visit to the vet and the lab work and tests.  The estimate for the spleen removal is $10,000 to $12,000.  This amount is way beyond what Carlos and Teddy can scrape up on their own in a very short amount of time.  So, I created this page on their behalf to hopefully help them come up with the funds necessary for Charlie's surgery.  Anything you can give, any amount, will help.  Any funds raised beyond what is needed for the surgery will be donated to Animal Samaritans.

Hurricane Sally blew ashore along coastal Alabama and Florida's Panhandle as a Category 2 early on Wednesday. In Orange Beach, coastal neighborhoods are still covered by water hours after the storm. Our friend and colleague, Colette Hailey, had to leave her home and find shelter with a friend to ride out the storm out of harm's way. Fortunately, Colette is safe, but her house is completely flooded and will need a lot of work before it is inhabitable once again. Please consider donating  to this fund. All funds will go towards helping Colette cover insurance, restoration and housing costs while she's getting back on her feet. The “Que” has been an integral institution in our city for more than 40 years where we have offered young and old talent a space to share their creative genius.  It has come to the point that we need to lean on you for financial support during these trying times. All donations regardless of the amount are sincerely appreciated as we try to weather this unfortunate public health crisis.  <br /><br />For those of you that don't know the Que has been closed since March 15, 2020.  Ilse or "Benz" to most of you, recently joined the Long Beach Bar Coalition.   In a Zoom call with the mayor two weeks ago it became very clear that the bars will be in the final reopening phase.  No timeline or even a "guess" was provided.  "The decision will rest with the state, county and the city health department."  Benz does not anticipate being able to reopen until the spring.  <br /><br />Benz has been associated with the Que since 1978 and purchased it with her partner in 1996.  After many sleepless nights and a lot of self talk Benz has decided that "the shows must go on" and instead of closing the Que she is now doing everything in her power to "Save The Que."<br /><br />All donations will be used to pay the following expenses:<br /><br />- Rent Payments<br />- Business Insurance <br />- Utilities<br />- Licenses Fee and Permits - Yes the city and state still want these fees even though we can't operate<br />- Reopening Expenses - masks, gloves, hand sanitizer and signage and whatever else the health department requires<br />- Replacement Inventory<br /><br />PLEASE NOTE:  Any donations collected and not needed should we be able to open sooner will be returned to the donors on a prorated basis.  Reopening would require the Que to operate at 100% capacity and not a "soft" reopening or reduced capacity.<br /><br />We are truly grateful for every penny that we can raise and above all we want everyone to stay safe and healthy.  We can't wait for the day that we can see you all in person and share a drink,  tell our stories and listen to some amazing music whether it's DJs spinning, live bands performing, our comedy club and last but not least our pole dancers.<br /><br />Sincerely,<br />Benz and Pam

For starters I want to thank everyone that has helped us get through these hard times. So many people love Pearl and that means the world to me. It took me twenty-four years to make this dream come true.<br /><br />Since the beginning of the pandemic I have tried to follow our local government's guidelines and do what's right for our community. I chose not to open in the hopes that this virus would slow down by June, but unfortunately that did not happen. I have taken out personal loans, business loans and made business changes that I felt would help Pearl thrive in the long run. My landlords are helping as much as they can, but they have rental income that they depend on. I believe it will take months to get back to even half of what Pearl once was, and that is going to make things harder for us in the future. <br /><br />Selling shirts and food to go is not going to help us stay afloat for too long. Our customer base is spread out over fifty miles and people aren't driving to Pearl just to get food. Many people have supported us and we are grateful for each of you, but we will not survive on just doing food.<br /><br />Our bills are running about $12,000 a month with:<br /><br />Rent (my landlord discounted for three months)<br />Electricity<br />Insurance<br />Sales Tax<br />Water<br />Pest Control<br />Trash<br /><br /><br />I don't like asking for help, but Pearl is my life. <p><br /><br /><br /><br /><br />As you all know my Brother was Diagnosed with COVID-19 and went into the hospital on June 27. He was Good in the beginning but as time with the virus increased so did his symptoms.  He is a diabetic and on dialysis.  So the virus hits his body a little Harder than the rest of us.  He is a Single Dad to my beautiful God baby and beyond  an Awesome Dad. He Encourages, and pushes his daughter to do great in softball. Goes out of his way to make sure that she has everything she needs and wants. Anybody that knows him knows he’s always the life of the party and tries to make everybody smile and laugh. He’s silly, goofy, lovable and makes you feel comfortable and always try’s to stay positive in every situation  But right now he is in ICU At South East Memorial Hermann. And when he text me the other day it broke my heart because I’ve never seen him scared. And now He is on a ventilator and in a Medical induced coma. He is on 80% oxygen, and is about to get put into a paralytic state for the next 2-3 days. I know the medical bills will be going up along with all the bills at home. I know there are a lot of loved ones that want to help But are not close by.  So I am setting up this go fund me to help with anything possible. Anybody that knows my brother knows he’s the first one to always help other people and go out of his way to do whatever he can for anybody he loves. So at this point any little thing will help. Not many of you may know my friend Lee, but for those of you who may know he is an amazing, strong, and caring individual. As a queer transman, he has spent many hours with young LGBT folks who may have needed assistance or guidance everywhere.
