Calling all community members, we need your help!

Last week, Kudra's beloved 2015 Nissan Rogue ("Betty") was declared a total loss due to unexpected and costly repairs amounting beyond the car's worth (apprx. $6,000). Despite diligent maintenance, "Betty" needs an engine replacement at over 200,000 miles and will soon require transmission repairs as well. The mechanics stressed that it was not worth repairing. This has left Kudra $4000 upside-down on their auto loan, and without the means to replace the car.

In order to keep working, Kudra must find a way to finance another reliable vehicle ASAP in addition to their loan payments. This is unsustainable without urgent assistance. Kudra can't get ahead of this major financial stressor without working, and they cannot work without purchasing another car.

This fund aims to help Kudra pay down their previous car loan ($4,000) so they may focus their finances towards purchasing a reliable used vehicle. If we successfully surpass our initial $4,000 goal, any additional funds will go towards their down payment. Any bit of assistance is helpful -- no donation is too small.

Kudra is an incredibly hard-working artist, administrator, and scholar. Over the past several years, they have become omnipresent in our local Coachella Valley theater community. As their current roommate, I can attest that Kudra is a successful working artist thanks to their passion and diligent financial planning/budgeting. But sometimes despite our best efforts, life throws you a very expensive curveball. Or 20. All at once...

Any artist can tell you... We don't make art for the paycheck; we do it to create. Unfortunately, there are little financial supports available to young artists in need of emergency funding. But to make art, we need artists! At the end of the day, our community is all we have. We rely on each other to thrive.
