What they care about

I am asking for help to get my cat, Squirrel, medical treatment. I found Squirrel in a tree crying at just 3 weeks old, 6 years ago. He was the most mischievous, loving soul pet I ever had the pleasure of raising. Squirrel played, slept, and comforted me as I have an anxiety disorder due to PTSD. In July of last year, I fled a DV situation. I had to flee for safety, taking Squirrel with me, and we have been homeless since. Squirrel and I have lived in my SUV. He would jump in the window each and every night and sleep with me till morning and leave during the daytime but would always come back to eat and get love at night. In Feb. 2026, Squirrel got spooked by thunderstorms and escaped. I was unable to find him. I searched for months, posted flyers on all doors in the neighborhood, hoping someone had info or at least saw him. There were no responses. Three days ago, I found Squirrel, 3 houses down from where I've always parked. My beautiful cat has been mutilated, ears cut off and whiskers, he has salt pellet wounds on both legs, and his neck looks as if he was tied up with a rope. He is extremely emaciated and lethargic. He has an infection in his left ear and is terribly sick. I brought him to the vet and the minimal care cost is $475.00. However, I am unable to cover any of the cost. I am praying that someone will assist me with the vet bills so he can get the attention he needs. I also need to find someone to foster him while I go into a treatment center to get back on my feet. The facility won't allow pets and I cannot leave until I find a home for Squirrel. Please help him get well.
Squirrel, my 6-year-old orange cat, has always been a source of comfort and joy in my life. I found him when he was just four weeks old, crying in a tree near my home. After hearing his cries all day, I couldn’t ignore them any longer. When I finally found him, it was love at first sight. Since then, Squirrel has been my constant companion, helping me through my PTSD and anxiety. He senses when I’m struggling and always finds a way to comfort me. He’s spunky, loves eating watermelon with me in the summer, and enjoys whip cream off my cocoa in the winter. When he went missing during the storms in February 2026, my life changed. I haven’t been able to live fully and have had several panic attacks since he disappeared. Just three nights ago, after nearly six months, I found Squirrel only three houses down. He was severely injured, with raccoon bites, shrinking ears from mites, dehydration, and a UTI that prevents him from urinating. His right front leg has deep wounds, and his left shoulder may need stitches. He’s lost weight and is in constant pain, unable to hear and always on high alert. The vet says he needs his ears lanced and drained, IV antibiotics and fluids, eye flushing, and an ultrasound to check for internal infections. I am currently without the financial means to help him, and it breaks my heart to see him suffer. I am asking for help from the community to make Squirrel’s recovery possible. Your support will cover his urgent veterinary care and give him a chance to heal and return to the happy, loving cat he’s always been. Any contribution, big or small, will mean the world to us. Thank you for helping Squirrel and for giving us hope.
