I am asking for help to get my cat, Squirrel, medical treatment.

I found Squirrel in a tree crying at just 3 weeks old, 6 years ago. He was the most mischievous, loving soul pet I ever had the pleasure of raising. Squirrel played, slept, and comforted me as I have an anxiety disorder due to PTSD.

In July of last year, I fled a DV situation. I had to flee for safety, taking Squirrel with me, and we have been homeless since. Squirrel and I have lived in my SUV. He would jump in the window each and every night and sleep with me till morning and leave during the daytime but would always come back to eat and get love at night.

In Feb. 2026, Squirrel got spooked by thunderstorms and escaped. I was unable to find him. I searched for months, posted flyers on all doors in the neighborhood, hoping someone had info or at least saw him. There were no responses.

Three days ago, I found Squirrel, 3 houses down from where I've always parked.

My beautiful cat has been mutilated, ears cut off and whiskers, he has salt pellet wounds on both legs, and his neck looks as if he was tied up with a rope. He is extremely emaciated and lethargic. He has an infection in his left ear and is terribly sick.

I brought him to the vet and the minimal care cost is $475.00. However, I am unable to cover any of the cost. I am praying that someone will assist me with the vet bills so he can get the attention he needs.

I also need to find someone to foster him while I go into a treatment center to get back on my feet. The facility won't allow pets and I cannot leave until I find a home for Squirrel.

Please help him get well.
