 Our story in English , french and greek ..
</div>
<div>
 <br>
</div>
<div>
 1.My name is Maria Ziaka, and for the past 14 years, my family and I have been living permanently in Quebec, Canada.
</div>
<div>
 Today, I am reaching out to you in a moment of absolute desperation. Our lives were turned upside down in a matter of hours by a medical tragedy, and I am urgently asking for your help to support my partner and the father of our child, Alexander Nika.
</div>
<div>
 Two months ago, while we were in Greece on vacation, we traveled to neighboring Turkey so that Alexander could undergo dental implant surgery. The procedure was performed under general anesthesia. Tragically, Alexander never woke up. He was taken from the dental clinic intubated and was rushed to a hospital.
</div>
<div>
 After two months of fighting for his life in intensive care, Alexander has suffered severe brain injury. He remains in extremely critical condition. At this point, we desperately need to get him into a specialized rehabilitation and neurological recovery center, where he can receive the intensive care and therapy he needs.
</div>
<div>
 Unfortunately, specialized rehabilitation centers here in Greece are extremely expensive, with costs reaching approximately €5,000 per month—an amount that we simply cannot afford on our own.
</div>
<div>
 Our lives have changed completely. We were never able to return to Canada. We have lost our jobs and our financial stability. We are now facing expenses we never imagined we would have to deal with, while trying to stay by Alexander's side and give him every possible chance of recovery.
</div>
<div>
 The most heartbreaking part is our 8 year old child. He went from attending a French school in Canada and living a normal life surrounded by his friends, to suddenly being in Greece, away from his normal life, and watching his father fight for his life. It has been an enormous emotional shock for our entire family.
</div>
<div>
 We are exhausted, overwhelmed, and running out of resources.
</div>
<div>
 Every donation, no matter how small, will make a difference. The funds raised will be used primarily toward Alexander's specialized rehabilitation and medical care, as well as the basic living expenses that our family is struggling to cover during this unimaginable period.
</div>
<div>
 I am asking you from the bottom of my heart: please help us give Alexander a chance. A chance to receive the treatment he needs. A chance to continue fighting. A chance to come back to his family.
</div>
<div>
 If you are unable to donate, please share our story. Even one share could help us reach someone who can make a difference.
</div>
<div>
 Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read our story, for your support, your prayers, and your kindness.
</div>
<div>
 Maria, Alexander and our family ❤️

</div>
<div>
 Bonjour à tous,
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
 Notre vie a complètement changé.
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
 Maria, Alexander et notre famille ❤️

</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>

<div>Help Me Recover After a Devastating Storage Unit Theft
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Dear friends, family, and community,
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I never imagined I would need to ask for help like this, but I am facing one of the most difficult situations of my life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>On June 5 at approximately 1:00 PM, I returned to my storage unit in Parkmerced after a birthday performance to drop off my samba feathers. When I arrived, I discovered that my storage unit had been broken into and nearly everything inside had been stolen. I dropped my costumes and things and fell to the ground. I was shocked. Horrified. Devastated. I cried and cried and cried. I looked around for help running between my car and the unit using my phone to try to call the police, security and anyone that could help. I felt violated. Empty. Alone. Angry.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>I immediately contacted the police and storage security. Two friends came to support me while I waited, and the police arrived around 3:30 PM. Multiple storage units showed signs of forced entry with broken locks, and other tenants appeared to have been affected. There are no cameras in the area, and the responsible person is unknown. A police report has been filed.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>What was taken included years of savings, essential identification documents, and the tools I depend on for my work as an artist.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Estimated Itemized Losses
</div>
<div>* Vaulables - $86000
</div>
<div>* Art easel and equipment — $500
</div>
<div>* Art supplies (paper, materials, tools) — $600
</div>
<div>* Costumes and performance wear — $500
</div>
<div>* Samba feathers and performance pieces — $800
</div>
<div>* Work-related creative materials and tools — $500
</div>
<div>* Personal belongings and stored items — $500
</div>
<div>* Identification documents and replacement costs — $400
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Estimated total loss: approximately $90000-$100000K.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My life is gone. My life savings DESTROYED. This was my long-term savings for housing stability, basic living expenses, and building financial security. Losing it all at once has left me in an extremely vulnerable position.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>In addition, the loss of my creative tools and materials has made it difficult for me to continue working and earning income as an artist. The money loss means no housing or future.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Because I was already dealing with housing instability, this situation has completely disrupted the stability I was working hard to build. I am now urgently focused on replacing money, essential documents, securing basic necessities, and rebuilding my ability to work and live safely.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>San Francisco is notorious for crime and it’s gotten worse. The news speaks it. I have filed a police report and am documenting everything as thoroughly as possible, but the recovery process takes time and does not address the immediate needs I am facing. The property, security and management verified that there are no cameras and the camera that’s inside. The unit was to be replaced a while ago and was never replaced. Parkmerced isn’t doing its job to keep renters safe. Look it up. Article: <a href="https://sfstandard.com/2025/11/25/parkmerced-housing-development-sfsu-crime/" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener"><a href="https://sfstandard.com/2025/11/25/parkmerced-housing-development-sfsu-crime/" target="_blank" class="" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer">https://sfstandard.com/2025/11/25/parkmerced-housing-development-sfsu-crime/</a></a>
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>To make this even more painful, this happened on my birthday. Instead of celebrating, I am now dealing with the aftermath of losing nearly everything I rely on.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Fundraising Goal
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My fundraising goal is $75,000–$100,000, which reflects a portion of my total verified losses and will go toward:
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>* Emergency housing and stability
</div>
<div>* Basic living expenses (food, transportation, essentials)
</div>
<div>* Replacement of essential documents
</div>
<div>* Replacing work equipment and creative materials
</div>
<div>* Immediate recovery and rebuilding costs
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Any contribution, no matter the amount, will make a meaningful difference. If you are unable to donate, sharing this fundraiser would also help greatly.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you for taking the time to read my story and for any support, kindness, or encouragement you can offer during this incredibly difficult time.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>With gratitude,

<div>With the greatest sadness and the recent tragic events, my family and I have decided to open a Go Fund Me page on behalf of my son Joel Brokenbrough and his newborn son, Jonah.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Joel and his wife Kiara Brokenbrough were married 4 years ago and were expecting their first child in June.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>They were in the process of moving from West Virginia back to California to make a new home for their growing family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Unexpectedly, Kiara went to her Heavenly home while Baby Jonah entered his earthly home. He is in NICU and has begun his long journey to grow stronger and healthier each day.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Jonah is a cutie and a fighter and by God’s grace and POWER we know he will astound the doctors with his daily progress.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Understandably, this tragedy has taken a devastating toll on Joel. He will need support (physically, mentally, spiritually, and monetarily) from his family and friends and the kindness of strangers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As Joel begins this unimaginable next chapter as an only parent, to a premie in the NICU and having to deal with the heartache of losing his beloved wife (whom he loves so much) he needs all the support he can get as he tries to navigate through life without her.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>If you can find it in your heart, please support Joel and Baby Jonah as they face a future that no one could have ever imagined.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We know with God’s Grace and Mercy, along with your acts of kindness, Joel will be able to navigate though this difficult time without having to deal with the financial burden and stress that is being incurred and place his focus on Baby Jonah’s health and well being.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>God bless you and thank you in advance.
</div>

<div>Early this morning, I was informed that my rehearsal space had been broken into. Upon arrival, I was completely devastated and heartbroken to find my lifetime collection of musical instruments, recording equipment, and irreplaceable vintage gear gone.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>From the time I was a teenager all of my free time and money has gone into creating music as a form of expression and life purpose. I've been deeply touched by the way my musical creation has inspired others and that's become the most meaningful part of my existence as a human being.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Over the last 10 hours, several of my friends have sent me some money and encouraged me to set up a Go-Fund-me to help recover some of the $20,000 worth of gear that was taken. If you or someone you know is financially stable enough to contribute towards getting me back on my feet and creating music again, please know that every dollar will go directly into bringing more music into our community.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>My band Glam Country is in the last stages of recording our debut album. Much of the gear necessary for this has been stolen, and so the album will have to be delayed until we can fund new gear. Whatever you can do to help us to bring these songs into the world will mean everything.
</div>
<div>Thank you &lt;3

Bring Back the Music: Help Replace Stolen Gear

<div>friends, family, and all that have been part of our events - we’re asking for your support to help keep us going.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>we’re asking for assistance in helping us stay afloat while we wait for our final permits to be approved and prepare our space for inspections. we’ve been self-funding this project for 11 months now, relying on our parties to help cover rent and additional expenses while we go through the long and unpredictable process that so many small business owners face when trying to open in San Francisco. it’s a reality that many never make it to opening day, something we’ve recently felt the weight of ourselves. but with support from our community, we believe soon we can open our doors and bring this vision to life.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>as we move closer to being fully open to the public, we’ve had to pause all activity inside the space to focus on completing the final stages of preparation and compliance. this pause means we’ve temporarily lost the main way we’ve been able to support our operating costs, leaving us in a tough spot as we continue investing in upgrades, inspections, and getting everything ready for opening.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>funds raised will go directly towards:
</div>
<div>•	covering rent until we’re open
</div>
<div>•	final inspection and permit costs
</div>
<div>•	utilities for the space
</div>
<div>•	compliance upgrades to meet all safety and regulatory requirements
</div>
<div>•	final cosmetic upgrades to make the space ready and welcoming for our community
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>there are many ways to support us beyond direct donations! without this support, it will be very difficult for us to move forward, but every bit of help can makes a huge difference. you can help by boosting and attending our relocated parties, purchasing our remaining copies of soulseek magazine or the rest of our current merch stock, sharing this post and our GoFundMe with others who may be able to contribute, helping us amplify this with local news outlets, or reaching out with any additional fundraising ideas you might have. every little bit of support brings us closer to opening our doors and sharing this space with the community.

<div>Co-presented by Zaccho Dance Theatre and Dancers Group, “The People’s Palace” was a FREE site-specific installation performance set inside San Francisco’s iconic City Hall.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Premiered on May 9, 10, 12, 2024, “The People's Palace” was an artistic intervention with City Hall’s Beaux-Arts Roman and Greek iconography. Aerialists and performers interacted with the architecture and large scale projections, transforming these symbols into new, more inclusive narratives that more accurately reflect San Francisco's diverse and dynamic cultures and community. Through performance, music, storytelling, and immersive technologies, “The People's Palace” invited the audience to actively engage these new narratives, to see themselves within the broader context of the city, and to appreciate the richness of diverse perspectives.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Thank you so much for attending this performance! Your generous post-show donations will directly support the creative work of the collaborators.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>“The People’s Palace” was created by some of San Francisco's most established and celebrated performing artists and designers.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Directed and choreographed by Joanna Haigood, this work was developed in collaboration with composer Marcus Shelby, visual artist Mildred Howard, scenic designer Sean Riley, rigging designer David Freitag, lighting designer Krissy Kenny, projection designer Aron Altmark, indigenous culture bearers Gregg Castro and Jonathan Cordero, and performing artists Veronica Blair, Ciarra D’Onofrio, William Brewton Fowler Jr, Nina Sawant, Saharla Vetsch, Tristan Ching Hartman, Jocelyn Reyes, and The Skywatchers Ensemble.

<div>Hi, my name is Arlene Lum of the Oakland Chinatown Chamber Foundation, a 501(c)(3) non-profit charitable organization. We are fundraising for Oakland Police Officer Tuan Le. Currently, this is the only GoFundMe page approved by Officer Le's family.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Officer Tuan Le was killed in the line of duty responding to a burglary on the morning of Friday, December 29, 2023. He was a dedicated public servant, loving husband, and cherished member of the Oakland community. He was a proud Vietnamese American who was born in Saigon, Vietnam in 1987 before moving to Oakland. He graduated from Oakland High School and San Francisco State University.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Officer Le graduated from the 183rd Oakland Police Academy on February 21, 2020, where he devoted himself to serving as a bridge between law enforcement and the community. For the past two years, Officer Le served as the Community Resource Officer (CRO) in West Oakland. As a native Oaklander who loved his city, his tireless efforts fostered positive relationships and made a lasting impact. Recently, Interim Police Chief Darren Allison recognized Officer Le with the John Grubensky Award for helping to save a life. He will be remembered as a hero who dedicated his life to making the Oakland community safer and bringing positive changes. His family, friends and colleagues will always remember him for his upbeat spirit, bringing laughter to those around him and for being a dedicated family man.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>He is survived by his wife, mother, and two dogs.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Carl Chan, President of the Oakland Chinatown Chamber Foundation, recalls seeing Officer Le during his volunteer assignments in Oakland Chinatown and Little Saigon. "Officer Le's passing leaves a void not only to his family, but also in the community he serves", says President Chan.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>100% of funds raised will be donated to support Officer Le’s wife and family. Your contributions through the Oakland Chinatown Chamber Foundation are tax-deductible to the extent permitted by law. Our EIN # is 37-1433643. At the conclusion of this campaign, the Oakland Chinatown Chamber Foundation will deliver a check with the net proceeds to the family.

<div>A One Time Ask in Support of CinemaSF
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>As our friends, neighbors, and loyal patrons of CinemaSF know, we hold very dear the shared, in-person movie-watching experience and have worked very diligently to keep this meaningful experience special and alive in San Francisco. It is an experience that brings people of all ages, all backgrounds, and all interests to a safe space where they can laugh, cry, and share the wonder and emotions offered by the different genres we endeavor to present. From first-run theatrical to deep-cut repertory cinema, live music and performance, community-based events such as school fundraisers and kids’ birthdays, we have been dedicated to maintaining the integrity of what “going to the movies” at a beloved neighborhood theater is all about. We have worked to keep the Balboa and the Vogue Theaters thriving for the last 12 years, and more recently we have partnered with 4Star4Arts to revitalize the historic 4Star neighborhood theater on Clement Street in San Francisco, ensuring another cinematic home for all manner of people and all range of shared experiences. We truly believe our work to be vital to the cultural fabric of the various communities we serve - families, youth, young adults, seniors - and we are proud to offer what we can to keep this city's historic venues vibrant and sanguine.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>We now find ourselves in a post-pandemic world that brings incredible financial challenges as global and local economies work to recover. Expense costs have risen, construction and equipment costs have significantly increased, builds have run long, maintenance on century-old buildings has become more costly, and we are unexpectedly in a position where our endeavors to save another neighborhood theater for San Francisco - the wonderful 4Star - has depleted our finances and left us in an unsustainable situation. Couple this with an industry that has been very slow to release movies of quality to the movie-going public for fear of their own financial loss, and a portion of the population still hesitant to return to indoor movies, we find ourselves needing to humbly ask for your help so that we can survive this momentary downturn and move quickly, successfully forward with our mission to keep movies and small, independent venues alive, fairly compensate our staff, and continue to offer welcoming spaces for the communities we so value, to gather, create, and enjoy together.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Community venues offer us the chance to see our peers and be seen by them, foster creativity, and support the arts on a truly grassroots level. Movie theaters offer us an opportunity to travel to and experience another world, to glimpse with wide wonder at the universe around us, and to feel deeply our shared humanity, learn and enjoy and escape. Please help us now through this financial challenge so we can keep providing you with all of this, and continue to support and participate with, our amazing communities.
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div><br />
</div>
<div>Your generous contributions will help us resolve outstanding construction and operating expenses and will allow us to continue providing the exceptional and eclectic programming and good times everyone has come to count on at all of our venues. We deeply appreciate your consideration and we assure you this is a one-time ask.

<p>We are the family of Lynn Murray. She was the most amazing person we knew, our most favorite person on earth. She was everything to us. She was shot and killed in King Soopers down the road from our house while filling an Instacart order. We wish we could have her back we love her more than anything. <br /><br />My name is Olivia Mackenzie and I am from Boulder, Co. I was living in California this past year and moved back to Boulder on February 17 to be closer to family and join my mom &amp; dad in doing gig work.  We don’t know what amount to put we don’t know what to expect in the coming days, anything helps. Thank you to everyone who has shown their support we really appreciate it. If you knew her, please please tell us a memory or story of her it brings us so much happiness.
</p>

<p>Your contribution to my family supports the financial burden this situation has placed upon us, dealing with mom’s bills and debts, storage for moms belongings as she was moving at the end of this month, paying rent on her house until we can find a place, and organizing a memorial service for this one of a kind, beautiful woman. These donations will go towards supporting her surviving family as we find a place to live and take care of her debt. The donations will go into my bank account and be distributed between me and my brother.

<strong>Overview</strong><br />During these challenging times when things are evolving rapidly, Funcheap is committed to keeping the community aware of everything that’s changing. Normally we uncover tons of great live events, fairs, festivals, underground art shows, happy hours, and deals. <strong>But things are different now</strong>.<br /><br />As such, we’ve switched our entire model to instead try to become <strong>a community resource</strong> with a mix of highlighting the most important local news that matters to you, resource guides, live streaming events, and <strong>uplifting Bay Area stories</strong> so we can <strong>make the best of the current situation</strong>. <br /><br /><strong>Our goal is to stay open during the crisis</strong> and, more importantly, <strong>when we come out of this</strong>. We might all be a little more broke, so we'll definitely want to be there to tell you about the cool ways to have fun in the Bay on the cheap. <strong>We're doing our best to be there for you when you need us most</strong>.<br /><br />Every member of our team has been awesome. We’d like to keep them going through this time so we can continue to try to be a great resource for the city.<br /><br /><br /><strong>Who we are</strong><br />Going out and having fun in SF is just too expensive. That’s why we started Funcheap - a tiny team, operating as a labor of love where we dig up all the fun, weird and exciting things to do in our awesome city. We are not a big tech “start-up.” We don’t have any funding or backers. <strong>We are just a small bootstrapped locally-run site</strong>. We do this because we love it and love shining a light on all the great creative things happening around the Bay.<br /><br />Perhaps we’ve helped you discover a new experience - street festivals, free movie nights, a great new happy hour, free museum days, <strong>a secret labyrinth</strong>, or even a naked bike ride? We’ve also supported countless artists, bars, restaurants, performance venues, and <strong>small local businesses for nearly 20 years</strong>. <br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47752648_1588730388650075_r.jpeg" alt="47752648_1588730388650075_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />Photo Credit: Carlos Justiniano / The Museum of Joy<br /><br /><strong>Why we need your help</strong><br />Nearly 100% of Funcheap’s income comes from event marketing &amp; production. During shelter-in-place orders, all live events have been canceled and/or postponed. <strong>As such we have nearly no income, yet our normal operating expenses haven't really gone down</strong>: payroll, website development, server costs, email hosting, and more.<br /><br />We have been actively applying for grants and government loans, but to date, nothing significant has come through.<br /><br />Funcheap has been operating at a huge loss since the beginning of March and our savings are almost gone. So, <strong>our fundraising goal is to cover this period plus the next 6 weeks of operating expenses</strong>. Our founder, Johnny Funcheap, has forgone his salary and the entire amount raised will be fully dedicated to Funcheap's staff - keeping them employed as well as covering the critical operating costs needed to keep the site online.<br /><br /><strong>This is why we need you - a bridge to get to the other side.</strong><br /><br /><br /><strong>Why support us?</strong><br />This is our opportunity to continue to have a voice in the city for those of us who are not millionaires. We pledge the following:<br />- Shine a light on interesting new stuff happening around the Bay<br />- Highlight important local news that matters to you<br />- Provide resource guides for things like senior hours at grocery stores, free testing facilities, how you can donate, etc...<br />- Virtual concerts, yoga, comedy, performance art, and more<br />- <strong>Volunteer opportunities</strong><br />- Tips for building community and engaging with your neighbors<br />- <strong>Uplifting stories about the city</strong><br />- Help support arts organizations, performers, comedians, bars, restaurants and local small businesses find new passionate fans.<br />- What’s open / what’s closed<br />- <strong>Small Business Grants</strong>: Funcheap will be providing <strong>free advertising support to small local businesses</strong> in need. We know you're struggling, so we're reserving some free ad space just for small businesses. Details coming soon.<br /><br /><br /><strong>What’s Next?</strong><br />Once things get back to “normal” we’ll be able to start letting everyone know what’s reopening, new live events, and ways to support local businesses, restaurants, bars, retail, and the arts. And hopefully, someday soon - when we are all ready - we’ll help throw a massive celebration.<br /><br /><img src="https://d2g8igdw686xgo.cloudfront.net/47752648_1588730358701645_r.jpeg" alt="47752648_1588730358701645_r.jpeg" width="100%" media_type="3" />Photo Credit: David Yu<br /><br /><strong>How We’ll Thank You</strong><br />Your support is really appreciated! We’ll keep a list of all donators (who are not anonymous) and give a shout out on our site. And when things get back to normal, we’ll send you some <strong>exclusive invites and freebies</strong> just for those of you who supported us and kept us alive. <br /><br /><br /><strong>How people can get involved</strong><br />We know that this is a difficult and uncertain time. There are countless individuals and organizations that need help. If you are fortunate enough to be in a financial position where you can support us, we will forever be grateful. <br />It has been an unforgettable experience catering to the organizers of Fyre Festival. Back in April 2017 I pushed myself to the limit catering no less than a 1000 meals per day. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all prepared and delivered by Exuma Point to Coco Plum Beach and Roker’s Point where the main events were scheduled to take place. Organizers would also visit my Exuma Point location to enjoy the prepared meals.<br /><br />Fyre Fest organizers were also checked into all the rooms at Exuma Point Resort.<br /><br />As I make this plea it’s hard to believe and embarrassing to admit that I was not paid…I was left in a big hole! My life was changed forever, and my credit was ruined by Fyre Fest. <br /><br />My only resource today is to appeal for help.<br /><br />There is an old saying that goes “bad publicity is better than no publicity” and I pray that whoever reads this plea is able to assist.<br /><br />Please know that Pamela Carter is the USA Intermediary to withdraw and transfer all funds through an USA escrow account set up for the sole purpose of withdrawal, receiving and transferring all funds from the GoFundMe Account to Elvis and Maryann Rolle.<br /><br /><br />Thank you,<br />Elvis and Maryann Rolle<br />Exuma Point Resort<br />Great Exuma, Bahamas

On October 18th, 32-year-old Officer Elia Lewin-Tankel was on duty on his bicycle, when he was struck by a suspect's car. He suffered a serious head trauma, and was taken to San Francisco General Hospital, where he underwent emergency surgery to remove part of his skull to manage swelling in his brain.<br /><br />Elia is making slow, but incremental progress. We are buoyed by the changes we see every day. It will be a long recovery, but he has a fighting spirit and we know he will persevere. As Shideh (Elia’s wife) eloquently wrote, "This is not the end of Elia's story." He is being cared for by the incredible ICU staff at SF General Hospital and with deep support from the San Francisco Police Department. <br /><br />Currently, Shideh is an English teacher at Mission High (a San Francisco public school) and her paid time off will soon be exhausted. We want to ensure that she can continue to be by Elia's side—without any additional worry—as he recovers.<br /><br />Any amount helps and will go directly to supporting this young family during this difficult and unexpected experience. <br /><br />Donate now to support Elia and Shideh.

Yesterday my cousin Chris Mintz was shot 7 times while trying to protect others from the gunman at Umpqua Community College.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/6204587_1443795338.6707_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />He is a father, a veteran, a student, and now he's a hero.<br /><br /><img class="not-resizable" src="https://2dbdd5116ffa30a49aa8-c03f075f8191fb4e60e74b907071aee8.ssl.cf1.rackcdn.com/6204587_1443795428.3093_funddescription.jpg" alt="" width="100%" /><br />During the shooting both of his legs were broken and he is going to have to go through a ton of physical therapy.<br /><br />While Chris is not the type of person to ask for it, he is going to need all of the help he can get while he recovers!<br /><br />Myself and many family members have been swamped with requests for us to setup a gofundme page, so this is us fulfilling that request and we appreciate your concerns and assistance. <br /><br />Thank You,<br />Family of Chris Mintz<br /><br /><br />Update - <br /><br />GoFundMe is requesting further information from me in this campaign for Chris's protection.<br /><br />My name is Derek Bourgeois, and Chris is my cousin. We both grew up in Randleman, NC together. <br /><br />The funds are going to be sent directly to Chris to assist with his recovery (medical bills, paying his bills while he out of work, childcare for his son, etc).
