<div>The Tumor Is Gone

<div>I finally have some good news to share: the surgery was successful, and my team was able to remove the entire tumor.
</div>
<div>After months of waiting, fundraising, and preparing for this operation, that outcome is an incredible blessing and a huge relief.
</div>
<div>Unfortunately, the surgery came with severe complications. Following the procedure, I experienced significant neurological issues that left me with near-complete paralysis on the right side of my face and body.
</div>
<div>Because of this, I am now facing acute inpatient rehabilitation and a much longer recovery than anyone anticipated. My focus over the coming weeks will be regaining strength, mobility, and independence.

<div>While I'm beyond grateful that the tumor is gone, the journey isn't over. I still have mounting medical expenses, rehabilitation costs, and an extended time away from work ahead of me.

<div>So I did what I always do: I kept working, kept showing up, kept taking care of everyone around me.

<div>But recent scans have changed things.

<div><strong>The cancer has progressed significantly, and I’m now going through rounds of radiation as I prepare for surgery to remove as much of it as possible. It’s a lot, and it’s happening fast.</strong>

<div>The reality is—this kind of illness is brutally expensive. Even with insurance, the costs stack up in ways that are hard to keep up with. Between treatment, surgery, and the recovery time that will take me out of work, I’m facing a gap I can’t cover on my own.

<div>I am Tasneem, 32 years old, married and have four children: Nour, 12 years old, Youssef, 10 years old, Reem, 5 years old, Raghad, 11 months old. My life was stable and calm until October 7th, when everything was turned upside down. My home was destroyed and my children's future was shattered. They lost their security and their right to education. My children Nour and Youssef used to get the highest grades, but now they have not been able to complete their studies because of the brutal aggression. I also suffered a lot because of my little girl who was not even twenty days old at the time because of the lack of basic supplies for the child. At the time, I had not yet recovered from the caesarean section. We suffered a lot and a lot and things became more difficult and the bombing intensified and we were forced to flee several times. I started looking for a way to save my children. I left for Egypt after the sixth month of the war. I had nothing with me but my children, my identification papers and a little money. My husband was unable to travel because he did not have enough money or any source of income because he unfortunately lost his job. This was the most difficult experience in my life. It is the experience from which we will emerge as we were never before. Now I find myself alone abroad without my husband, so help me so that my husband can come to us and live with us. I also urgently need to undergo surgery and a monthly allowance for my children who lost their education due to the lack of residency. I found no choice but private schools, but the costs are very expensive and I need to rent a house... I have resorted to institutions to help me, but to no avail. I ask you to respond to the call of humanity and tormented childhood. Be by my side and support me to overcome this storm.

We had three lives in the past five years, we had two sons and one daughter. Our children, Adam, Elaf and Ameer is the light of our lives, and we had so many dreams for our future together. We are black Palestinians, and we come from a tight-knit community with around 1000 black people in Gaza. I dedicated my life to my children. I wanted to be the good mother they want.

<div>We have faced hard times in Gaza before, with smaller escalations happening, but we were able to overcome them and could stay in our homes. This time is completely different. Within two days of the crisis, we fled our home and sought shelter at my aunt’s house in Al-Maghazi refugee camp, where my parents and family had been displaced to.

<div>In January 4th, we woke up to the Israeli occupation at the our door. They held us hostages while they took my father and male relatives into prison. More than four months passed by and still no words from them.

<div>When my husband, Mohammed had the chance to gather what was left of our home; the remains, and his own gallery, to this day I haven’t heard a word from him.

<div>Honestly, we are not okay. We can clearly say that our dream for our family now is totally different than our dreams the day before this crisis began. What we want is peace. We dream of living in a safe place where we can work and our children live in a peaceful environment where there is no violence at all, where there’s no conflicts between any other party. This is the only dream we can hope for.

<div>We have been living in my aunt for months and every day that went by was harder than the day before. We worry constantly about our safety and basic needs of food, water, and electricity. We haven’t eaten a single fruit or vegetable in months, and we fear running out of food all together. My eldest son is sick from the polluted drinking water. Nowhere is safe in Gaza, not even the the religious places. We lost family and relatives from airstrikes on the refugee camp we are lived in, and we hear bombings all around us. During the pause in fighting, we have gone outside and seen the devastation all around us. When I go out to the street, I feel I am in an apocalypse movie. Everything is destroyed.

<div>We lost all our life’s savings and assets in this brutal war. Before the war, we had spent over $100,000 to build our dream home together. Now, our dream home is unlivable. The building is completely under the rubbles and our apartment is entirely damaged; our memories, appliances, equipment, clothes, and everything we had are either stolen or damaged. Almost everything we own and consider as a main asset for our family is lost. In our community, there has been so much loss.

<div>It is unfair for my children to be living in such a toxic and dangerous environment. They are almost in total less than 5 years old and they have spent more than half their lives living in the tent through this terrible war. We’re not able to provide enough milk, diapers, medication, and vaccinations that my youngest son must have.

<div>We pray that we can leave and start our lives over and rebuild our dreams again.<em>”</em>

After a period of staying in the city, the occupation ordered us to evacuate from the city of Khan Yunis and go to the west of the city in what is called the city of Al-Mawasi.
