<div>On September 18th, my brother Kevin was involved in a hit-and-run car accident that changed his life forever. He was driving home from work when another vehicle struck him from behind, forcing his car off the road and into a tree. The people responsible fled the scene and left him there. Thankfully, a passerby called 911, and Kevin was rushed to the hospital.

<div>Kevin suffered a broken arm, nine broken ribs, and a fracture to his lower spine, along with countless other injuries. On September 19th, he underwent emergency surgery on his spine. Two days later, he required additional surgery on his ribs. He spent over a month in the surgical ICU and three months hospitalized.

<div>Because of the severity of his spinal injury, Kevin is now paralyzed from the chest down and will never walk again.
</div>

<div>He has always put others before himself, and he has been the best big brother I could ever ask for.

<div>He is also an incredible single father to my niece, Kaida, who just began her freshman year at Texas A&amp;M University. Kevin has always worked hard to give her a better life, and now he is facing the unimaginable while still trying to be there for her.

<div>Kevin has a very long road ahead. At the time of the accident, he did not have health insurance. He has since obtained coverage through the healthcare marketplace, but it will not come close to covering the long-term care, rehabilitation, equipment, and ongoing medical needs he will require for the rest of his life.

<div>On the morning of October 14th, 2025, I woke up to a very scary message, "Please call 911 for me." In the early morning, my mom had been assaulted by a man who swore to love her forever. It felt sudden, but this didn't come out of nowhere and this won't end in the near future. This incident began a long two-week period of protection orders, finding housing, finding a lawyer, and adjusting to life after losing her home and the love of her life. Not only that, my mom is taking care of my 9 year old brother who has had to figure out how to navigate 4th grade reading without knowing where he is going after school or if he has enough toothpaste to get through the week.

<div>Now that they have housing, they have a new battle of furnishing the apartment and paying for a lawyer. Historically we know that the most dangerous time for a woman leaving a domestic violence relationship is the 18 months after leaving, and we have a long way to go. Protection orders, divorces, and custody are all among the most financially traumatic things you can go through - not including the 2 years of financial abuse that led up to this moment. My mom was left to pay the majority of the bills, which did not leave her with a lot of money to save.

Empower a Family Escaping Domestic Violence

<div>My name is Larry Howe, and I am coming to you on behalf of my sister, Laura. She recently moved to Winchester, VA to be closer to me and for better opportunities, but it's been a rough year so far. She missed some shifts at her job due to physical pain, and right as she got started with her new employer, <strong>she was diagnosed with cervical cancer</strong>. Because of the pain (and the constant doctor appointments), she's been removed from the schedule, but she's still able to keep her insurance for now. As her caregiver through chemo and radiation, I too have been missing a lot of work, and trying to balance all of this while taking care of her 11-year-old is proving to be too much to handle (financially) for one barber. <strong>These funds will go a long way to be able to afford daily drives to her treatment center, food for her and her son, rent, utilities, etc.</strong> The eventual goal is to afford enough to get us all moved into the same place to make it easier for all of us, but we're just taking it day by day :)

On September 8, 2024, my close friend Jeni Brown (mother of Saiveon), lost her son due to a senseless act of gun violence in Lincoln, NE. Saiveon Hopkins was visiting his family in Lincoln and was to return to his home in Ontario, CA.. Saiveon was a shining light that was there for everyone who loved him. Father to a 10 month old daughter, who adored him, he also helped his terminally ill mother care for his siblings. Due to the financial strain already placed on the family for Jeni’s medical care and the unexpected passing, I am wanting to help raise funds to relieve them of the financial burden during an already devastating time. <div>Hey y’all. My name is Connor, and I am looking for some help with my dog Eloise’s recent emergency spinal surgery. This has been a scary time, and the reality of finances has hit. We’re unsure if she will walk again; there’s about a 50% chance. But she is alive, stable, and knowing her infectiously happy yet stubborn attitude, her quality of life will not change much. The ICU vet said she is one of the sweetest dogs she has <em>ever</em> met and by far the nicest French Bulldog. Proud dog dad moment. If you’ve had the pleasure of meeting Eloise, this isn’t shocking. That’s the kind of soul she is - always happy to see everyone and give them all the love she has to offer.

<div>I’ve always worried about something like this happening but have never been in a spot to financially prepare for it. I’m currently finishing up my masters degree, my 3rd degree since getting Eloise. As we all know, school is expensive, so I’ve worked full time since the beginning of my associates. I’m currently paying off some of my own hospital bills, which has been difficult on its own. This surgery bill adds a significant amount of debt to my plate that I cannot handle myself. I work full time, but I am unable to get a part time job due to about 30 hours of my week put towards my clinical internship, grad school classes, coursework, and serving on a local nonprofit’s board of directors. I’m at a loss for what to do. I’ve always been one to figure things out, but I’m really needing help.

<div>I’m setting my goal for $5,000 dollars. Her total hospital bill is about $4,700. Thankfully, I was able to get a loan for this, but I will not be able to pay this debt back myself while also paying for ongoing monthly check up visits, medications, and equipment (support sling or harness, diapers, protective pouch for her torso+back legs as they will be dragging on the ground). I am also wanting to have some funds available to purchase a quality wheelchair (about $300) if she ends up permanently paralyzed, and if at all possible, prepare for another related emergency.

Yesterday evening (02-04-2024) around 5:30 PM, an Amazon van stopped in front of my house but I wasn't expecting a package so I thought that maybe my neighbors were. Keep in mind, our dogs were resting on the porch as they normally do and both were chained. The Amazon driver got out of the van, walked onto the porch, and shot Solar. He has a sister name Lunar that witnessed her brother being shot and she has been crying and shaking in terror. I’m created this go fund me to help Solar have a safe recovery. <div>Almost seven years ago, a little dog peeked his head around the corner of the porch during my family’s weekend trip to the mountains in Tennessee. He nervously walked over to me and right away I could tell he had so many questions for us. He was a short-legged, long-bodied, silly-looking pup. We figured he was just stopping by and must be a neighbor’s dog. Unfortunately, he was so skinny and dirty, clearly not being cared for well if that were the case. He took his very first opportunity to run inside the cabin and burrow under some blankets. During the day, we put him back outside, hoping he would remember how to get home. We all thought it was so strange how desperate he was to stay with us. He did not want to get left behind again. Later that day, my family and I posted on the community lost pet site and took him to every shelter and vet’s office in town in hopes of finding his family or at least a microchip. However, by the time our trip came to an end, still no one had claimed him. He was the first one to jump into the car when we packed up our luggages and began the drive back to Florida.

<div>Little did I know, that pup would become my absolute best friend and my once in a lifetime boy. He stuck with me through highschool and was there every step of the way when we made the move for college. So far, B has gotten me through three years of college, road tripped across the country, hiked countless insane trails, and made so many memories along the way. My favorite memory will always be seeing how happy and free he was running through the dunes of White Sands National Park. B has a heart of gold and is loved by so many.

<div>On January 19th, we found out the devastating news of his diagnosis, but by January 21st, B had already received his first chemotherapy treatment. We are so grateful for the amazing doctors and nurses who helped us get B on chemo so fast. Due to his diagnosis of B-Cell Lymphoma, he will be following the CHOP protocol of chemotherapy. B will undergo weekly therapies for four weeks with a week break, repeated for four cycles. We will take it one day at a time, but his treatment could be extended to the CHOP-MA protocol depending on how he does. This would entail continuous routine visits for chemotherapy treatments after his initial four cycles are complete to give him the chance of an extended life until his body becomes resistant to the chemotherapy medicines. With chemotherapy alone, there is only a 0 to 2% cure rate, despite Lymphoma being considered treatable. However, there is a program offering bone marrow transplants, which increases the cure rate to about 35% for dogs with B-Cell Lymphoma. For the procedure to be most effective, dogs should complete chemotherapy and be in remission before the transplant.

<div>For now, we are just starting with the CHOP protocol and will take it one step at a time, as B’s condition can change at any moment. If he continues to do so well, we will start preparing for the next steps. He is so bravely fighting cancer, and we will continue to support him every day. He deserves the world, and I could never repay him for the countless memories we have made.
</div>

<div><br /><strong>Important UPDATE #2!!! </strong>We have been in contact with North Carolina State University and spoke with their leading doctors about the <strong>Stem Cell Transplant</strong> procedure available for dogs with lymphoma.  We know that with chemotherapy alone, lymphoma is a terminal disease, with only a 0 to 2% chance of long-term survival. However, with an <strong>Autologous Stem Cell Transplant</strong> (using B's own stem cells), B would have a 30 to 50% chance of a cure! Plus, if <strong>combined with the Adoptive T-Cell Infusion Therapy</strong>, the cure rate would further increase! With this information, we are hopeful for B's future.<br />The timeline overview would be as follows: B must first go into and stay in a molecular remission with chemotherapy. Then, B would get an Autologous Stem Cell Transplant at NC State University with the goal of eradicating the remaining cancer cells hiding in his body. After this, B can get an Adoptive T-Cell Infusion to further train his immune system to fight the cancerous cells if they try to repopulate. <br />We want to raise awareness that these procedures and treatments do exist, while furthering canine cancer research. We know that if more people requested these treatments for their dogs, the cost would go down significantly, making it more affordable. <br />We have been quoted that the chemotherapy itself is $6000, the stem cell transplant with NC State is $21,000-$27,000, and the T-Cell culturing/infusion is another $10,000. This does not even include emergency visits and/or unexpected complications that we may face. Unfortunately, these are expensive procedures.
