She was a respiratory therapist at a Fransican Hospital. She had a loving boyfriend, wonderful friends, and an enormous family who miss her dearly. <div>Taking things in his stride and always looking at life positively, Paul focused on his health, swapped the croissants at breakfast for celery juice, and changed his diet. After some time, when this hadn't helped, Paul realised he needed to see a local doctor despite not having medical insurance. Unfortunately when you dont work in the US you're left vulnerable and often uninsured as was the case with Paul at this time.

<div>Within a matter of hours of seeing the doctor Paul was admitted to a hospital in New York, and underwent a myriad of tests whilst staying in the hospital. Not only were Paul and Steven about to face some life-changing tragic news regarding Pauls health, but they also had to come to terms with the ever increasing financial strain they were going to face.

<div>They received the diagnosis this morning (22/05) that Paul had aggressive Acute Myeloid Leukaemia and was facing a lengthy, intensive chemotherapy treatment process. Being ill and uninsured in America was a double blow no one could dream of.

<div>Paul as always, is keeping matter of fact and has requested they stabilise his condition so he can get on the next flight home to Australia and continue life-saving treatment with the help of Medicare, surrounded by family and friends. This flight is currently scheduled for Tuesday 24th of May.

<div>Paul and Steven are facing a battle not only for Pauls health but also to ensure they can pay the extortionate hospital bills they have incurred in the short time Paul has spent in the US medical system.

<div>They will both face enormous challenges in the coming months - both personally, with the treatment ahead and the massive sudden relocation for them both from the US to Australia. Especially for Steven who will be by Pauls' side the entire time, but also the financial strain this will place on them both, from mounting US medical bills and the cost of re-establishing themselves back in Australia whilst continuing to meet costs from their lives in Kingston NY.

Help Paul Fight Cancer.

<div>Hi, my name is Brian Weick. We have a Sister in need of our help. Katie Ferguson was an apprentice at our training center in Mokena and has been out of her time there for about two years now. Katie was one of the best apprentices I have had the honor of teaching and as a single mom has worked hard to get where she is today. Unfortunately, in June 2021 she was diagnosed with stage 3 cervical cancer, enduring radiation and chemotherapy from July to October.  As of January 2022 the cancer had spread to her lungs and T7 vertebrae. This past week she has learned that the cancer has spread to her T8 &amp; T6 vertebrae, immediately undergoing radiation treatment for pain management. She will be starting chemo again soon.

<div>Katie is in good spirits and hopeful for an amazing outcome.  She  did not ask me to do this for her, but as you can appreciate, will need our help ensuring her daughter,  Savannah Rae, is well cared for while she is unable to work.

DC frontliners and grassroots organizations have been tirelessly protesting, raising mutual aid, and keeping us safe in our own neighborhoods since the murder of George Floyd in May 2020. We have been fighting for Black lives to matter, and to abolish systemic racism rooted in white supremacy and predatory capitalism. SAVE INK 180 during the shutdown of IL

Gabriella Matlak is a spunky four-year-old girl. Like any little girl, she loves to dance, sing, and play with her dollies. She loves spending time with her brother and sister and is always willing to help no matter the situation. This little girl will put a smile on your face the moment she greets you and I am one of the million that are so blessed to have her in my life.<br /><br />On June 7th, 2019, while at a friend’s house my niece Gabriella, had an accident and fell into a pool. As her dad, Tim and friend, Charley were able to remove her from the pool, they immediately started to perform CPR. Unfortunately, Gabby was not breathing and was transported to St Joes. Upon arriving to St Joes, it was decided that she was too critical and needed to be airlifted to Lurie Children’s Hospital. Gabby is currently in critical condition and fighting as hard as her little body can but at this time her brain has put herself into a coma. Gabby is currently going through multiple tests and being watched at all times. Gabby’s parents have been told that she is having seizures which is causing harm to her brain. The next few hours are going to be very critical for our little girl and this is where you come into the picture. Tim and Paula work hard to provide for their family and as this time is spent in the ICU; Gabby’s parents are unable to work. Gabby’s siblings will need consistent 24/7 care as we all take part in caring for Alex (6) and Lilly (2) and as everyone would suspect, being with Gabby during this difficult is very important. We will be marching from New Orleans, LA to Baton Rouge over 14 days to stop the state-sponsored, industry-driven genocide of the historic African American communities that reside in the area between New Orleans and Baton Rouge, formerly known as Cancer Alley.<br /><br />This stretch of land, hereafter called Death Alley,  has the highest cancer rate in the nation, caused by pollution from the petrochemical industry. These pollutants are also known to cause other life-threatening illnesses, such as respiratory diseases (esp. asthma), autoimmune disorders, cardiovascular complications, and birth defects. March Against Death Alley

Activists in MI  threaten to cut off of Line 5. And the price of tar sands oil has dropped to less than $14 a barrel because the existing pipelines are full. These factors are creating huge pressures on Canadian pipeline infrastructure giant Enbridge to develop more pipeline capacity to get oil from Alberta tar sands to the Gulf and out for export. The most likely route for all this dirty oil is through Minnesota, Wisconsin and Illinois on south.<br /><br />We anticipate Enbridge announcements soon. Many landowners, who previously negotiated an agreement with Enbridge for the existing Line 61, will be asked for an additional easement to build another pipeline, dubbed a 'twin' in Enbridge documents. Some may welcome the payment that comes with negotiating this easement. Others may not. Enbridge, a foreign private company, may be granted eminent domain rights to take the property of those who fail to come to an agreement.<br /><br />SOIL is the ONLY organization working with landowners and community members in the counties where the pipeline will go to help them organize to resist the pipeline.  We need donations to enable us to keep our very effective organizer working in Illinois.  <br /><br />Thanks in advance for your contribution to this cause that means so much to all of us.

In this community girls will experience activities, ideas, and support from intergenerational mentors while making friends and having fun in an environment that aims to grow a positive, powerful, caring identity anchored in social justice. I've had the good fortune and opportunity to contribute to the development of this group and I am thrilled that it is ready to launch. Help us out, if you can. There are plenty of materials we could use to help make the experience meaningful and fun.<br /><strong>                                                                        - Kristen Todd Frank<br />                                                                           Mentor<br /><br /></strong> The objective is to create a place where they can heal from living in a culture of patriarchy and learn the skills necessary to break free from limitations often associated with identifying as female. We will focus on the root causes of womens oppression in order to build powerful experiences that are crucial for young girls and women to recognize they are valuable and important. <br /><br />RB’s are meeting from 10am – 2pm once a month, the 1st Saturday of every month with special field trips in between. The first unit is Radical Beauty and after 3 sessions the participants earn a patch/button for the unit. The first year will include the following 4 Units: <br /><br />Radical Beauty<br /> My Culture - My Community<br /> BLM <br />and Eco-Warrior. <br /><br />Here is an example of what the first 3 months will look like: Drum Circles start and end every session – this is a way to sync up and get hyped up for the day. Music and Art are very important and will be an integral part of the RB’s. Next, the collective will develop Acuerdos with the girls. This is a list of agreements that will form the rules for how the RB's want to be treated and what the RB’s expect of each other. <br /><br /><strong>The collective will be using “circles” and talking-sticks to foster trust within the collective. It will also help develop good listening and communication skills.</strong><br /><br /> Talking about current events as it relates to the theme of radical beauty is also crucial to the project – countering the negative messages currently in the media will help foster critical thinking about what beauty is. On the first day, the topic of discussion before playing the Human Barometer Game, will be about the fierce Olympians that took Brazil by storm. <br /><br />#Blackgirlmagic was in full effect with athletes like Michelle Carter. <br /><br /><strong>“My Black Girl Magic is in my versatility. One thing that I love to do in sport is change my hair. Having the ability to look different every time I compete if I want to is Black Girl Magic. In life and in sport, just being able to adapt and keep pressing forward no matter what is going on around me is magic. It’s being unapologetically you and being the best you you can be.” —Michelle Carter, two-time Olympian, shot put </strong><br /><br />The curriculum includes a discussion about award winning musician, Alicia Keys, and the backlash she received for chosing not to wear makeup to the VMA’s. Juxtaposing how Michelle Carter chose to take time to apply lipstick before receiving her gold medal in the shotput competition and Alicia Keys not wearing make up on the red carpet is one way to discuss who and what is considered beautiful and why. <br /><br />The RB’s will also learn about living with a disability and how Art can help overcome some hardships. We will be lifting up Frida Kahlo’s life story.
