Congo River Marathon

The Congo Runner Youth Academy is an exciting new grassroots project in Kinshasa, created by the teams behind Run Rome the Marathon and Congo River Marathon Events. Our mission is to introduce children and young adults to running through fun, inclusive, and structured weekly training sessions. By joining us, you help promote health, discipline, and community spirit among Kinshasa’s youth. The pilot phase includes: weekly 1–2 hour training camps led by qualified coaches, activities like warm-up games, running drills, and movement practice, free participation, plus distribution of t-shirts, running shoes, and gear for age groups ranging from children to young adults. Your support will help us cover the initial setup costs including coaching fees, equipment, venue rental, and gear for participants. Together, we can create a lasting impact by empowering the youth through sport and community. In Memory of André Baraka It is with deep sadness that we mourn the passing of André Baraka, a young, Congolese athlete and an exceptional human being with a special soul, the kindest heart, humble, grateful, and incredibly dedicated to his sport and training, who left us on August 7th in Kenya. André was more than a champion — he was part of our Congo River Marathon family. Winner of the XXL Energy Congo River Marathon (2022) and a top-3 finisher in three other editions (2023, 2024). A fierce competitor, a friend, and an inspiration to many. He leaves behind a wife and young child. Our hearts go out to them in this difficult time. We are launching this fundraising campaign to support Andrew's family and honor his legacy. Every contribution will go directly to his wife and child.
